Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) Department of Exceptional Students (DES) celebrated Exceptional Children’s Week during the week of  March 7 - March 11, 2022! This eventful week connected the schools and communities to demonstrate a focus on student abilities and honor our exceptional people and services. In today’s episode, Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley is joined by the Director of the Department of Exceptional Students, Ms. Trina Smith, Department of Exceptional Students Coordinator, Dr. Sheila Cook,  and the Science Coordinator, Ms. Janetta Greenwood, all of who are parents of children with exceptionalities. Tune in to hear their experience with navigating the K-12 educational process with exceptional children and learn the importance of parents and teacher collaboration when it comes to the Individualized Education Process(IEP).

Pre-K registration and School Choice is underway! In this episode, Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley is joined by the Director of Fine Arts & School Choice, Dr. Monika Wiley  and the Pre-K Coordinator, Viki Dennard, to encourage CCPS stakeholders to take advantage of School Choice and Early Learning opportunities beginning in March. Tune in to learn more about the challenges of reconnecting families to school choice opportunities and resources,  and exposing parents to the benefit of early learning, as well as how the Pre-K lottery is conducted. The discussion also leads to future-forward goals for Pre-K expansion and implementation of an international curriculum. Dr Beasley is joined by Title 1 Specialist Kephanie Dunn- Henderson and Harper Elementary's Parent Engagement Neomia Coleman as they sit and discuss getting parents connecting more with their children. Clayton County Public Schools is excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in recognition of our diverse Hispanic community! The Hispanic community makes up 20% of the CCPS student population and Hispanic representation is an important aspect of our school system not just during Hispanic Heritage Month, but year-round.Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley invites Dr. Sandra Nunez, Deputy Superintendent of Student Support Services, Ms. Luz Rodriguez Diaz, language interpreter and parent liaison with the CCPS international center, and Ms. Regina Wallace, social studies coordinator, to share opportunities for the community to engage with our fellow Hispanic community members and learn about Hispanic contributions that are not taught in the standards.

In this episode, Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley is joined by the Clayton County Public Schools Director of Student Services, Dr. Angela Horrison-Collier, and Clayton County Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sudha Reddy to discuss COVID-19 testing and vaccination opportunities available to the Clayton County community. Dr. Beasley reminds us of the collective responsibility that Clayton County citizens have to protect our children and community members at large. Dr. Collier explains the process of making the decision to pivot schools to virtual learning due to positive COVID-19 cases. Dr. Reddy speaks on the work of the health department to manage the virus and stopping the spread of COVID-19 and its variants. In addition, she shared the importance of public trust throughout the community of the local and national health officials and the necessity of working together to protect the overall health and wellness of Clayton County’s citizens against the COVID-19 virus. Please be reminded that, in support of statewide mass vaccination efforts, the school system will close on Friday, September 3, 2021 to encourage all stakeholders to get out and get vaxxed!  

Clayton County Public Schools has returned to face-to-face instruction for the 2021-2022 school year! Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley kicks off season 2 of Be Inspired with Beasley with critical updates as we welcome parents/guardians and students to the new school year. Dr. Beasley shares words of encouragement to parents/guardians to return students back to the school buildings for an effective learning experience, urges all community members to get vaccinated in order to keep our children safe, and he also welcomes community members seeking employment to join the CCPS team to help serve our children. In this episode, Clayton County Public Schools’ (CCPS) Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J.
