Allan Misner, AKA Coach Allan, is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer, a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, and a Functional Aging Institute (FAI) Certified Functional Aging Specialist. He went on to earn specialties in Fitness Nutrition, Corrective Exercise, Behavior Change, Performance Enhancement, and Online Personal Training. Richard David Feinman, PhD, is a professor of cell biology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he has been a pioneer in incorporating nutrition into the biochemistry curriculum. A graduate of the University of Rochester and the University of Oregon, Dr. Feinman has published numerous scientific and popular papers. Dr. Feinman is the founder and former co-editor-in-chief of the journal Nutrition & Metabolism. He’s currently researching the application of ketogenic diets to cancer. Vic Basmadjian is a returning guest on our show! Be sure to check out his appearance on episode 387 of Boundless Body Radio! Vic Basmadjian is an advocate of low carbohydrate and ketogenic diets after recovering his own poor health. At 55, he was obese, weighing in at almost 300 lbs., and had high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Over the past few decades, Vic had repeatedly attempted to lose weight through calorie restriction, and although he had often lost significant amounts, he had never been able to sustain the weight loss. It finally occurred to him that cutting out refined carbs- such as rice, potato, and pasta- seemed to help with his weight loss efforts. Vic used the ketogenic diet to sustainably lose one hundred pounds, while improving his health and quality of life, and he has now turned much of his attention to helping others. Mimi Morgan grew up in New Jersey, and despite developing asthma at the age of two, she spent lots of time outdoors, taking care of, and riding horses. Even though she had asthma from a young age, Mimi was always adventuresome. She had loved hiking, kayaking, dog sledding, and loved the outdoors in general. Unfortunately, her low fat, low protein way of eating ultimately brought about some serious health issues. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and Parkinson’s disease. Shortly thereafter, she was diagnosed with spinal osteomyelitis, and her health was steadily declining. It was not until she finally reduced her carbs and increased her protein and fat that she began to see some pretty amazing results. Over time she was even able to reduce her medications from thirteen to zero!
