Dream it. The purpose of Season 3 “The Power of Latinas” is to amplify the voices of Latinas and women of color in our community so that our children have more role models in the community that look like them. We want to celebrate the achievements but also talk about the challenges of talented and empowered women who have become pioneers in different sectors of our economy. The podcast will give us a safe space to talk candidly about our struggles and how we overcame them to get where we are today. We want to create something that could have a lasting impact on the lives of Latinas and women of color in our state, across the country, and around the world. This is a movement. Build it. A small 2018 study found a correlation between time spent on social media, negative body image, and disordered eating. Other studies suggest that a young girl’s self-worth stems from how she compares herself to her peers, as well as the women she sees on social media. Research has found that 70 percent of all people feel like impostors at one time or another, especially people of color. This syndrome is most prevalent in communities of color, starting with our children. If they don't see themselves being represented how can they feel like they belong? Our children need role models that look like them. Grow it. The podcast will be distributed through various mediums, we hope to reach young Latinas and women of color in MA and across the country. We will share the podcast with local and national organizations. Help us get awareness about this project and especially get the message out to young girls.
