In this episode we will be previewing the story section of the low-intermediate course called The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Each chapter in this conversational English course starts with a story section, and the story is used as the context for the lessons that follow. This context is what allows your brain to acquire common verbal phrases and patterns in a natural way. It is recommended to listen to the story and each lesson as many times as it takes for you to understand most of it or about 90-95% of it. The story section is especially important to understand because it will be used in the 5 lessons that follow. I will be sharing these 5 lessons over the next 5 weeks.Remember that you can always find the complete written transcripts at LearningEnglishFaster.com You may also join the “Learning English Faster .com” Facebook group and meet other people who are also learning English. In this episode we will be discussing the following: Part 1 -Never enough timePart 2 -A better wayPart 3 -Questions and answersHi everyone, my name is David, and it is my goal to help you learn English faster. When you learn naturally, you are learning faster. Remember that you can always access the complete written transcripts for each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com. You may also join the “Learning English Faster .com” Facebook group and meet other people who are also learning English. Just go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3396962433722654Limited time free trial offer: Download Chapter 1 for free at: https://www.learningenglishfaster.com/collections/all  Part 1 -Never enough timeI want to learn English, but I just do not have the time. This is the number one excuse that I hear for not making a solid commitment to learn English or any new language, and for good reason. Most of us are busy. We all have responsibilities that are important and sometimes they must take priority. If you are a student, you need to attend class and study. If you have a job, you need to do your job and do it well. If you are a parent, you must take care of your children’s needs. The list goes on and on. Many people sincerely are very busy all day, every day. However, there may be a better way to use your time during the day, especially when it comes to learning to speak a new language. Let’s take a look at a day in the life of my friend, Jim. Jim is a very busy guy. He has his own business and wakes up early to get to work on time every day. After Jim wakes up, he gets ready and makes breakfast. Then, Jim drives a half hour to work. Jim works hard all day and only takes a short break for lunch. When Jim gets home, he first has dinner with his wife and two children. Then, Jim helps his wife clean up by washing and drying the dishes. After the dishes are clean and dry, Jim helps his son and daughter with their homework. At the end of the day, Jim takes care of some responsibilities around the house and spends some time with his wife. Jim also attends church every weekend and he frequently helps with the service. Jim sincerely wants to learn to speak English, but where can he find the time in his busy schedule? Using traditional methods, this would be very close to mission impossible, because Jim would have to study grammar and new vocabulary by sitting down with a textbook or computer program most days. However, Jim is determined to learn to speak the English language, so he looks for a better way. One day, Jim is searching online and discovers another method. Jim learns about another method that allows him to learn naturally, a method that does not involve studying grammar. Jim liked the fact that he would be able to learn in time that is usually wasted, so he decides to give it a try. Part 2 – A better wayEach weekend, Jim plans to read a new lesson and look up any words that he does not know. Reading a new lesson and looking up unknown words on google translate takes Jim about 15 to 20 minutes. During the week, Jim plans to listen to his lesson over and over while he is making breakfast, and again while he drives to and from work. This will allow Jim to listen to his lesson for an hour and a half every day without wasting any of his valuable time. Jim’s plan allows him to listen to each lesson about 30 times in one week. This is enough repetition for Jim to understand most of his lesson by the end of the week, this means that he is ready to move on to the next lesson. If Jim does not understand most of his lesson, he just listens to it again the following week until he does understand most of it. Jim’s ability to understand and use English in daily conversations is increasing faster than he ever imagined possible. Part 3 – Questions and Answers:  Now I will tell a small part of Jim’s plan followed by a pause, this pause is time for you to answer out loud. Short and quick answers are best. My answers may by slightly longer to provide context. This technique simulates a conversation and helps you to start thinking in English. Answer the questions as if you were Jim.   Each weekend, Jim plans to read a new lesson and look up any words that he does not know. -Is Jim planning on studying grammar and memorizing lists of vocabulary every weekend? No, Jim only plans on reading one lesson each weekend, and he only plans on looking up the words that he does not already know. Jim does not plan to waste any time studying grammar or memorizing lists.  Reading a new lesson and looking up unknown words on google translate takes Jim about 15 to 20 minutes. -Does it take Jim all weekend to read one of his lessons and look up unknown words? No, it only takes Jim about 15 to 20 minutes to read a lesson and look up any unknown words.  During the week, Jim plans to listen to his lesson over and over while he is making breakfast, and again while he drives to and from work. -Is Jim going to listen to his English lessons while he sleeps? No, Jim is not going to waste his time listening to his lessons while he sleeps. He plans to listen to his lessons while he is making breakfast and driving to and from work.  This will allow Jim to listen to his lesson for an hour and a half every day without wasting any of his valuable time. -Is Jim able to listen to his lesson for an hour and a half every day without wasting any of his valuable time?Yes, since Jim can listen to his lessons while he does things he needs to do anyway, he does not have to waste any of his valuable time.  Jim’s plan allows him to listen to each lesson about 30 times in one week. -Does Jim plan on listening to his English lesson 30 times in one week?Yes, Jim understands that his brain needs repetition to acquire common verbal phrases and patterns. This is why Jim’s plan allows him to listen to a 15-minute lesson about 30 times in one week.  This is enough repetition for Jim to understand most of his lesson by the end of the week, this means that he is ready to move on to the next lesson. -How does Jim know when he is ready to move on to his next lesson?Jim knows that he is ready to move on to the next lesson when he can understand most of his current lesson. When I say most, I mean about 90 to 95% of it.  If Jim does not understand most of his lesson, he just listens to it again the following week until he does understand most of it. -If Jim does not understand most of his lesson by the end of the week, what does he do?If Jim does not understand at least 90 to 95% of his lesson, he just listens to it again the following week.  Jim’s ability to understand and use English in daily conversations is increasing faster than he ever imagined possible.-Is Jim getting results? Yes, Jim’s ability to understand and use English in conversations is increasing faster than he ever thought possible.  ConclusionThis method allows you to learn faster because it gives your brain the context that it needs to learn naturally, and when you learn naturally, you learn faster. As you repeat each lesson, your mind will naturally acquire common verbal phrases and patterns, the same way that children learn language. If you like this podcast, please help me to continue developing free content by sharing with your friends or In this episode we will be discussing the following: Part 1 - What are miracles?Part 2 - True testimonyPart 3 – Questions and answersHi everyone, my name is David, and it is my goal to help you learn English faster. When you learn naturally, you are learning faster. Remember that you can always access the complete written transcripts for each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com. You may also join the “Learning English Faster .com” Facebook group and meet other people who are also learning English. Just go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3396962433722654Limited time free trial offer: Download Chapter 1 for free at: https://www.learningenglishfaster.com/collections/all Part 1 - What are miracles?Frist, I must mention that the purpose of this discussion is to provide the context needed to help learn the English language in a natural way, and not to impose my personal beliefs on anyone. So, what is a miracle? A miracle is generally defined as a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws, and it is frequently considered to be supernatural in nature. When I was doing my dissertation for my doctorate in professional Christian counseling, I recorded some testimonies that I strongly feel qualify for the title of miracle. In the following section, I will share one of the testimonies that I personally found to be amazing.  Part 2 - True testimony: The following testimony was obtained from an anonymous survey. This is the story of how my niece was healed by a homeless person. My 11-year-old niece had a serious liver condition which was not treatable medically. The condition was so serious that her doctor recommended a liver transplant. One morning, I went to the hospital to pick up my niece’s records, so we could go to the United States for the liver transplant. When we were close to the hospital, I was stopped by a traffic light. At that moment, my niece saw a beggar lying down on the balcony of an abandoned house, and my niece asked me “why do people have to live like that?” Immediately, the beggar stood up and walked directly to my car. My niece started to cry and asked me not to let the beggar clean the windshield of the car. I assured her that I was just going to give him some money and we would leave. To my surprise, when I rolled down the window to give him a donation, he reached in the car and touched my niece and said, “you are healed.” When we took my niece to the hospital, the doctor said that she would not need a transplant because there is nothing wrong with her.  Part 3 – Questions and Answers:  Now I will tell a small part of the true testimony followed by a pause, this pause is time for you to answer out loud. Short and quick answers are best. My answers may by slightly longer to provide context. This technique simulates a conversation and helps you to start thinking in English. Answer the questions as if you were giving the testimony.  This is the story of how my niece was healed by a homeless person. -Is this the story of how your niece healed a homeless person? No, my niece did not heal a homeless person. This is the story about a homeless person who healed my niece.  My 11-year-old niece had a serious liver condition which was not treatable medically. Was your niece’s condition treatable? No, sadly there was no medical treatment that could help her.  The condition was so serious that her doctor recommended a liver transplant.-Was your nieces liver condition serious? Yes, her condition was so serious that the doctor recommended a liver transplant.  One morning, I went to the hospital to pick up my niece’s records, so we could go to the United States for the liver transplant. -Why did you go to the hospital, to donate blood or to pick up your niece’s records?I went to the hospital to pick up my niece’s records, so we could bring them with us to the United States.  When we were close to the hospital, I was stopped by a traffic light. -What stopped you, a parade or a traffic light? When we were close to the hospital, we were stopped by a traffic light.  At that moment, my niece saw a beggar lying down on the balcony of an abandoned house, and my niece asked me “why do people have to live like that?” -What did your niece see lying down on the balcony of an abandoned house, a dog or a homeless beggar?-My niece saw a homeless beggar. Immediately, the beggar stood up and walked directly to my car. My niece started to cry and asked me not to let the beggar clean the windshield of the car. -Why did your niece start to cry?My niece started to cry because the beggar stood up and walked directly to my car and this scared her.  I assured her that I was just going to give him some money and we would leave. -What did you do to calm your niece?I assured my niece that I was just going to give him some money and we would leave.  To my surprise, when I rolled down the window to give him a donation, he reached in the car and touched my niece and said, “you are healed.” Did the beggar reach in the car and grab the money? No, the beggar did not grab the money. He reached in and touched my niece, and then he said, “you are healed.” When we took my niece to the hospital, the doctor said that she would not need a transplant because there is nothing wrong with her.-Did your nieces doctor give you her records so she could have a liver transplant? No, my nieces doctor told us that she no longer needs a transplant because there is nothing wrong with her.  ConclusionI hope that you enjoyed this short true testimony as much as I did. I do not know about you, but I am not sure that I will ever look at another beggar in the same way. Have you ever experienced a miracle? If so, please take a minute and share. Also, if there is a topic for discussion that you would like to hear about, please leave your suggestion, and I will do my very best to create a podcast about it. If you enjoy these free podcasts, please help me to continue creating content by sharing with your friends on your favorite social media. Until next week.

find some peace. I plan on explaining more about the circumstances in a future episode. Anyway, when I arrived in Puerto Rico, it was everything that I dreamed it would be. The people were amazingly friendly, the weather was ideal, and the beaches were breathtaking.  I even found an affordable apartment that was literally on the beach. Very soon after I arrived, I ended up meeting the most wonderful woman, and we were married about a year and a half later. The problem was that I only knew about two words of Spanish when I moved to Puerto Rico. I knew that I would have to learn to speak Spanish if I was going to stay in Puerto Rico.  Part 2 - Learning naturally – Short true storyAfter moving to Puerto Rico, I was very motivated to learn the Spanish language, and I started by learning a basic vocabulary of the most used words by using flash cards. I was able to learn a basic vocabulary of around 300 words in about one month. Once I had a basic vocabulary, I used computer courses that focused on grammar. After completing several computer courses, I still could not speak Spanish, so I paid a lot of money to attend a language learning school. The language learning school also focused on learning grammar. After all of this, I did have a better understanding of grammar and a solid basic vocabulary. The problem was that I still could not hear, think, or speak well in the Spanish language. When tried to understand native speakers, the words all blended together. I could not speak without translating everything I wanted to say in my head first, and this caused me to get stuck a lot. I always had a big question mark in my head because I was not sure that I was speaking correctly. Does this sound familiar? After wasting years trying to learn to speak the Spanish language, I was so frustrated that I took an entire year off. But then, I found another learning method that allows you to learn naturally by listening and that changed everything. I listened to stories and answered the simple questions that followed out loud. I was able to listen a lot because I could listen while I was doing other things like driving or cooking. Before long, I was able to start thinking in the Spanish language, and I was even able to start having conversations with some native speakers. I sincerely wish that I had known about this method before I wasted so much time and money on traditional courses.  Part 3 – Questions and Answers:  Now I will tell a small part of the true story followed by a pause, this pause is time for you to answer out loud. Short and quick answers are best. My answers may by slightly longer to provide context. This technique simulates a conversation and helps you to start thinking in English. Answer the questions as if you were telling the story. After moving to Puerto Rico, I was very motivated to learn the Spanish language, and I started by learning a basic vocabulary of the most used words by using flash cards. I was able to learn a basic vocabulary of around 300 words in about one month. -Were you able to learn the Spanish language in one month?Nooo, I was able to learn a basic vocabulary of common words in one month. I was not able to learn the Spanish language in one month. Please never believe anyone who tells you that you can learn an entire language on one month.  Once I had a basic vocabulary, I used computer courses that focused on grammar. After completing several computer courses, I still could not speak Spanish, so I paid a lot of money to attend a language learning school. The language learning school also focused on learning grammar. -Did the computer courses and language learning school both use traditional teaching methods that focused on learning grammar?Yes, both the language learning school and the computer courses focused on learning grammar.  After all of this, I did have a better understanding of grammar and a solid basic vocabulary. The problem was that I still could not hear, think, or speak well in the Spanish language. -Did learning grammar help you to speak in the Spanish language? No, unfortunately it not. Although I learned a lot of grammar, I still could not hear, think, or speak well in the Spanish language.    When I tried to understand native speakers, the words all blended together. I could not speak without translating everything I wanted to say in my head first, and this caused me to get stuck a lot. -Were you able to understand native speakers or did their words seem to blend together? When I tried to understand native speakers, their words all seemed to blend together.  I always had a big question mark in my head because I was not sure that I was speaking correctly. Does this sound familiar? After wasting years trying to learn to speak the Spanish language, I was so frustrated that I took an entire year off.-Did you take an entire year off to celebrate learning the Spanish language? No, I took an entire year off from learning Spanish because I was so frustrated with my lack of progress.  But then, I found another learning method that allows you to learn naturally by listening and that changed everything. I listened to stories and answered the simple questions that followed out loud. Did you decide to go back to the language learning school to learn more grammar? No, I found a new method that helped me to learn naturally by listening to stories.  I was able to listen a lot because I could listen while I was doing other things, like driving or cooking. Before long, I was able to start thinking in the Spanish language, and I was even able to start having conversations with some native speakers. -Were you able to start thinking in the Spanish language?Yes, before long I was finally able to start thinking in the Spanish language and even have some conversations with some of my neighbors.  I sincerely wish that I had known about this method before I wasted so much time and money on traditional courses.-Do you wish that you knew about the learning by listening method sooner?Yes, I wish that I knew how to learn naturally before I wasted so much time, money, and effort using traditional methods.    ConclusionIf you like this Learning English Faster Podcast-No grammar, no lists to memorize, no textbooks- In this episode we will be discussing the following: Part 1 - Near death experience Part 2 - Short true storyPart 3 - Questions and answers Hi everyone, my name is David, and it is my goal to help you learn English faster. Learning to speak English is easier than you think, you just need to use the correct learning methods. Remember that you can always access the complete written transcripts for each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com. You may also join the “Learning English Faster .com” Facebook group and to having your heart stop and seeing a bright light, although that would certainly qualify. I am talking about an experience that is far more common. I am referring to being in a situation where you could have easily died, but you did not. For example, I have a friend who was driving on a frozen lake and her car fell through the ice. She survived and was not even seriously injured, but in the moment, she was aware that death was a very real possibility. These types of near-death experiences can have a very sobering effect and make you reevaluate your priorities and your life in general. Another example is when the famous founder of the Lutheran church, Martin Luther, found himself in a lightning storm so intense that he was convinced that he was going to die. In that moment, Martin Luther prayed and told God that he would become a monk if his life was spared. Well, Martin Luther lived, and he kept his promise by becoming a very devoted monk who would spend up to six hours praying for forgiveness in a single day. The main point is that it is common to take life for granted until we have an experience that forces us to realize how fragile and finite life really is. Part 2 - Short true storyOnce I had a near death experience that I will never forget. It all started when I went canoeing down a river with a bunch of my friends. It was a sunny day, and we all enjoyed the beautiful displays of nature as we floated down the river in our canoes.  About mid-day, we came to a swimming place on the river that was very popular with the local people. There were also two bridges above the river that someone had connected with a zip-line. The local people were zipping from one bridge to the other bridge, where they would let go and fall into the river below. I could see that the river was very deep in that location, so I decided to give it a try. All was going well, at least at first. I zipped from the higher bridge to the lower bridge and let go at just the right time. However, as I fell to the river below, I was a little bit crooked. When I hit the river crooked, two things happened. I hurt my back and I completely knocked the air out of my lungs. Getting the air knocked out of your lungs is always very disturbing because you cannot take a breath until your breath naturally returns in about a minute. However, that minute seems like an hour. Anyway, I had a tremendous amount of back pain and it took everything I had just to keep my head above water. As I was treading water, waiting for my breath to return, I realized that this could be a very bad situation. I realized that I was using a lot of oxygen to tread water, and I knew that if my breath did not return in time, I would lose consciousness. Of course, that would not be good, and I could easily die. Fortunately, my breath returned, and I was able to swim to shore, but this experience did increase my awareness of how fragile and uncertain life really is. Have you had a near-death experience? If so, please share it in the comments. Part 3 – Questions and Answers:  Now I will tell a small part of the true story followed by a pause, this pause is time for you to answer people who live in that area were zip-lining from one bridge to the other bridge and dropping into the river. I could see that the river was very deep in that location, so I decided to give it a try. All was going well, at least at first. I zipped from the higher bridge to the lower bridge and let go at just the right time. -Did you zip from the lower bridge to the higher bridge? No, gravity would not allow that. I zipped from the higher bridge to the lower bridge, and I let go just at the right time. However, as I fell to the river below, I was a little bit crooked. When I hit the river return in time, I would lose consciousness. Of course, that would not be good, and I could easily die. -What could have happened if your breath did not return in time?If my breath did not return in time, I could have lost consciousness and drown. Fortunately, my breath returned, and I was able to swim to shore, but this experience did increase my awareness of how fragile and uncertain life really is.-Did this near-death experience increase your awareness?Yes, this near-death experience increased my awareness of how fragile and uncertain life really is. ConclusionThis free podcast uses Spiders in Puerto Rico- Free Podcast #24Learning English Faster Podcast-No grammar, no lists to memorize, no textbooks- In this episode we will be discussing the following: Part 1 - Spiders in Puerto RicoPart 2 - The Black Widow – Short true storyPart 3 – Questions and AnswersHi everyone, my name is David, and it is my goal to help you learn English faster. Learning to speak English is easier than you think, you just need to use the correct learning methods. Remember that you can always access the complete written transcripts for each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com. You may also join the “Learning English Faster .com” Facebook group and meet other people who are also learning English. Just go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3396962433722654Part 1 – Spiders in Puerto Rico During my beekeeping days, I would frequently spend long days outside working in the field. This is when I ran into some of the spiders in Puerto Rico. I discovered that although the tropical island does not have any poisonous snakes, it does have some poisonous spiders. I would occasionally run into a hairy tarantula. This would freak me out a little, but the tarantulas never caused any real problems. I am not sure what type of spider it was, but there was a small, black, and flat spider that had a very interesting technique for eating my bees. One day while I was working with my bees, I witnessed one of these small spiders jump off the side of a hive, grab one of my bees in the air, and fall to the ground with the bee in its grasp. I cannot express how much I wish I had that moment on camera. Another spider that I would occasionally find around the house is a huntsman spider. At first, this spider gave me the heebie-jeebies. In other words, it really freaked me out because it is big and crazy fast. I think the reason that it is so freaky is because it moves so fast and erratically that you cannot tell where it is going to go. Anyway, I later discovered that these spiders are completely harmless to people. Part 2 - The Black Widow – Short true storyThe one spider that caused a bit of a problem that had to be addressed is the famous black widow. This spider is poisonous and well known for having a red hourglass shaped mark on its abdomen. This spider is not usually aggressive and will only bite when it feels threatened. However, it became a problem when I accidentally brought a female home because it was hiding in one of my beehives. This became apparent when I started finding baby black widow spiders all around my garage, where I kept the empty hives. This discovery was very concerning because my son was only about three years old at the time, and a black widow bite can be fatal to a small child. Fortunately, I was able to locate them and hunt them down fairly easily. Although, black widow spiders only come out at night, they have a very distinct web that is easy to identify. Most spider webs are somewhat organized and symmetrical, but the black widow has a disorganized mess of a web. You may see a photo of a black widow spider on its web by going to the free podcast page at LearningEnglishFaster.com. I would take note of any of these messy webs I found during the day, then I would come back and hunt down the unsuspecting black widows at night. Eventually, I found the mother and I was able to eliminate all her offspring. The one spider that caused a bit of a problem that had to be addressed is the famous black widow. -Did the famous black widow spider cause a problem?Yes, out of all the spiders I ran into in Puerto Rico, only the black widow caused a problem. This spider is poisonous and well known for having a red hourglass shaped mark on its abdomen. -Does the black widow spider have a red hourglass shaped mark on its back? No, black widow spiders do have a red hourglass shaped mark, but the mark is on their abdomen, not on their back. This spider is not usually aggressive and will only bite when it feels threatened. However, it became a problem when I accidentally brought a female home because it was hiding in one of my beehives. -Was the spider a problem because black widows are very aggressive or was it a problem because you accidently brought one home with you?The black widow spider was only a problem because I accidently brought it home in one of my beehives. This became apparent when I started finding baby black widow spiders all around my garage, where I kept the empty hives. -How did you discover that you had a black widow problem? The problem became apparent when I started finding baby black widows around my garage, close to where I kept the empty hives. This discovery was very concerning because my son was only about three years old at the time, and a black widow bite can be fatal to a small child.-Was the discovery of the black widow spiders concerning because they gave you the heebie-jeebies or because you had a small child in the house? The discovery of the black widow spiders was very concerning because there was a small child in the house. Fortunately, I was able to locate them and hunt them down fairly easily. Although, black widow spiders only come out at night, they have a very distinct web that is easy to identify.-Was it easy or difficult to hunt down the black widows in your garage? It was fairly easy to hunt the spiders down because they have a very distinct web. Most spider webs are somewhat organized and symmetrical, but the black widow has a disorganized mess of a web. -What is different about the web of the famous black widow spider? Most spider webs are somewhat organized and symmetrical, but the web of a black widow is a disorganized mess, at least it looks that way. I would take note of any of these messy webs during the day, then I would come back and hunt down the unsuspecting black widows at night. -Did you hunt the black widows during the day or during the night?I hunted the black widows at night. I would find the webs during the day, so I knew where to find them at night. Eventually, I found the mother and I was able to eliminate all her offspring. -Were you able to find all the black widow spiders in your garage?Yes, I was eventually able to eliminate all the black widow spiders in my garage.  ConclusionThis free podcast uses the same learning methods that are used in the complete courses, but the stories in the complete courses are superior because they provide much more context, and each new lesson is a continuation of the same story. If you like this free podcast, please help me to continue developing content by sharing an episode or 2 on your favorite social media. Until next week.
