Hey everyone, its been a minute, but wanted to let everyone know about the new podcast talking to small town small business leaders, Micropolitan.  This will be the last update for Rural Revolution, but the great content will continue over at Micropolitan.  Download it wherever you get your podcasts and send any comments or thoughts to Brodie@themarketontheplaza.com
Becky and Franne discuss variations of the green eyed monster, laying out the differences and ways for you to deal.
A lot goes into starting a new business — that isn't a surprise to anyone. What did come as a surprise to owners Brodie and Carly was how much they learned along the way — about each other, their staff, and — most importantly — themselves. Join them, along with special guest host Rebecca Undem, as they navigate through their first official month in downtown Aberdeen and welcome you home to their own rural revolution.
Grab your cowboy boots and hold onto your cowboy hat, because it's almost time for the biggest party on the prairie — the Crystal Springs Rodeo! This week, we're dusting off the details, history and more on the rodeo's big 75th celebration. Join us on our virtual road trip!
We've missed you! And it's a historic day — we're kicking off the Rural Revolution Roadtrip! With so many small towns doing great things, we're taking the show on the road to personally check in with our amazing communities. Before we pack up the studio, get a preview of a jam-packed weekend that showcases one thriving small town — we're looking at you, Ipswich Trail Days.
Have you ever stopped to ponder some of life's most basic, yet most important, questions? What do you hope to accomplish before you die? What's your greatest fear? Authors and hosts of "The Little Things" podcast Mitch Reed and Jake Kneeland dish on small town living, gratitude for what you've got, taking the first step and how a simple question can start a rural revolution.
The moms are in the studio this week! That's right — with The Market on the Plaza just a week away from opening, Brodie's and Carly's moms are in the Hub City to help with the finishing touches! Take a stroll down memory lane with Sue and Nancy — if you've ever wondered why the hosts are the way they are, you're about to find out.

They're joined by Nicole Heinz, social media and operations manager "and everything" at the Market on the Plaza, and Megan Rosendahl, producer of the Rural Revolution, to really talk shop — favorite episodes, a little self-reflection, how big of a nerd Brodie is, and even a peek at upcoming ideas that could involve YOU joining the revolution.
Andrew Carnegie once said, "A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never failing spring in the desert." Cara Perrion knows this all too well while working at the K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library. She's an ambassador for knowledge, a discoverer of change, and the self-described "chattiest librarian you'll ever meet." And she's in the middle of a rural library revolution to create a Third Space for everyone.
Placemaking: What do we value about this place right now and how can we make it better? Explore more with Mitchell, S.D.'s Joshua Hofer, Community Vitality Field Specialist with the SDSU Extension Office and composer of visual experiences — plus, learn all the things you never knew you wanted to know about chislic.
If you ever thought you didn't have the time, energy or resources to change the world, then you need to meet Mary Beth Holzwarth, owner of Globetrotter Coffee in Gettysburg, S.D., who is literally changing lives one cup at a time. Not only is she fighting for child advocacy through projects like Endeavor 52 and Love Inc., she's also a shining light in the South Dakota Women's Prison — plus, her love for coffee has touched the lives of people in dozens of countries around the world. Grab your favorite mug with your favorite blend and settle in for Mary's rural revolution.
Carly had the honor of winning the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Aberdeen Community Champions Luncheon on March 9th, 2021.  Hear about her long list of accomplishments and her heartfelt words.
Dr. Timothy Down, president of Northern State University in Aberdeen, swung by the Pheasant Canteen Podcast Studio to shed some light on collegiate life. Settle in as he talks the business of human development, managing change and navigating a nonlinear journey — plus, you won't want to miss his favorite failure...

We step outside of Aberdeen this week on the Rural Revolution! Coffeeshop owner Kasey Maher swung by the studio to dish on life in Timber Lake, S.D. and how her small coffee shop has changed the lives of its residents. Maher also serves up some real talk about rural life, Leadership South Dakota and the bravery that comes with getting into business. So grab your cup of joe and setting on in!
Northern Electric Co-op Communications Director Ben Dunsmoor swings by to *spark* interest in rural cooperatives in the Dakotas. He also *powers* a discussion about his role on the prairie and *ions* out a few misconceptions. (And yes, there are a few more bad puns, but don't let them *hertz* you,)
They identify as coaches' wives, but that's just one of the many hats that Tiffany Langer and Laura Hill wear. Don't miss their take on the other roles they play, too — mom, entrepreneur, city council woman, volunteer, support specialist and organizer, just to name a few. It's two women doing great things, this week on Rural Revolution.
Stacy Bauer wears a lot of hats — wife, mom, assistant to the president, fundraising champion, community liaison, school mascot owner. Bauer swung by the studio to dish on what it's like living with a furry celebrity, plus she gives some serious insight into an Aberdeen staple: Presentation College. But first, Carly gets a little personal.
This week, we talk to Jeff Evenson who helped to start the local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization that builds and distributes free beds to area kids.
