This includes a conversation around range of motion, exercise selection, body part training, and other nuanced considerations. Weightlifters have never been the strongest athletes. In the squat, bench, and deadlift (i.e., force-driven movements), strong man athletes outperform most. How would those incredibly forceful athletes stack up against our best? Where would they place in the continent or the world?Along with answering this question, we discuss strength sport influencers, training frequency, and why making progress in weightlifting can be so challenging. If you're an advanced weightlifter or someone new to the sport, a 100kg/70kg snatch will always be a meaningful lift. Some people snatch that in a few months, some in a few years, and some will never touch those weights. Why do we see such a variation in abilities? For us, this is an important question to answer. Most people will never be able to load those milestone weights onto the bar. Here's how we help them get there. After 10 years of weightlifting, you have a unique relationship with the sport. You can take the path of self-development or you can keep comparing yourself to others. A quote mentioned during the podcast reflects our viewpoint:"Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today." When you start to challenge why you do what you do and how you do it, your life starts to change. Here's our challenge to the traditional perspective.Join WEIGHTLIFTING.ai - https://weightlifting.ai/ and get access to an individualized program that responds to your needs, as well as world-class form check help from coaches in the Performance Community.Follow Seb https://www.instagram.com/seb_ostrowicz/Follow Josh https://www.instagram.com/josh_philwl/Follow WH https://www.instagram.com/weightlifting_house/
Without realizing it, I think we answered one of the best questions to date. "What do you do when you're feeling slow, lazy, and tired?"Of course, this was tackled from two entirely different perspectives. The first is a mindset shift and the second is a culture change. The Olympic qualification procedure is flawed. Weightlifting isn't about performing once and claiming to be the best. Our sport should move toward a system that rewards involvement and consistently high-performing athletes. In this episode of the show, Seb and Joshua discuss topics ranging from the Olympic qualification procedure, and the next Weightlifting icons, to why periodized training plans should have dramatic fluctuations between each block. Rahmat Erwin Abdullah of Indonesia has solidified himself as the best clean and jerker in the world. Not only does he hold world records now in two separate categories, but his best lift, a 209kg clean and jerk weighing 76.67kg surpasses most modern greats. But how does he do it? Well, put simply, Rahmat Abdullah has discovered a bit of a weightlifting loophole which allows him to win competitions and set world records in the process. How?
