(Fremont County)- From the balloon rally and rodeos to festivals and tournaments, events bring people together across Fremont County. In this episode of the County 10 Podcast, the discussion explores how lodging tax revenue helps support those experiences… and the work that goes into welcoming visitors. Representatives from the Support Fremont County Tourism Political Action Committee explain the optional 2% lodging tax on hotels and short-term rentals, how funding flows through the Wind River Visitors Council, and how it reaches local communities. They describe the November ballot measure as a continuation of the tax rather than an increase, with most revenue coming from out-of-state visitors. Listen to learn more about how lodging tax dollars connect to Fremont County events and visitor services. The conversation highlights support for events and tourism projects in Riverton, Dubois, Lander, and Shoshoni, including rodeos, races, museums, visitor signage, and tournaments. In Riverton, examples include a new visitor guide and Fourth of July parade and park activities, along with the Chamber’s role as a visitor center. Listeners will also hear how events such as the Riverton Balloon Rally and Lander Brewfest can bring visitors into local lodging, restaurants, and shops.
