Aiming to explore the controversies bred in today’s world of instant reactions and identity politics, Katroversy Radio is a new platform for social commentary and knowledge using popular music and trending topics for a greater purpose. Created by Ms. Kat of the popular DMV collective, The Middle Class, Katroversyradio will feature Kat, co-hosts Skrap and DJ Torch as they take a “Breakfast Club” approach to social awareness in the Internet era. According to The Middle Class, the Blis.FM online radio show touches on topics such as homosexuality in hip hop, obesity and food addiction, and racial discrimination. The format features round-table, weekly hour long episodes with segments such as: hot takes, key statistics, guest testimonials, reviews and audience opinions. In the official press release, TMC stated the purpose of the new radio show is to “uplift and enlighten our community while revealing hidden truths about the reality of current society.”
