The U.S. is experiencing a housing crisis not seen since the Great Depression. We at the Tenants Union believe that housing is a basic human right. And that basic right is being violated for millions in this country. This episode features testimony from tenants facing some horrible challenges, and from policymakers like housing champion Congressmember Pramila Jayapal, co-sponsor of the Housing is a Human Right Act. We’ll also get to speak with two incredible housing champions: Washington state Senator Rebecca Saldaña, who will talk about the connection between affordable housing and transit, and Burien Deputy Mayor Krystal Marx, who we worked closely with to win just cause legislation in Burien. And we'll hear about housing justice work that’s happening on the ground in Washington state. This episode features excerpts from our annual General Assembly, which took place on October 23, 2020.
