2004 - Northport, Maine. Something about 28-year-old Jeremy Alex was different. He wasn’t his usual free-spirited self—lately, he’d been acting more and more paranoid that bad guys were coming after him.  Then, on the cool evening of April 24, 2004, Jeremy suddenly ran into his former teacher’s backyard in a panic, wad of cash in hand. Despite trying to calm him, Jeremy ran off into the thick Maine forest, never to be seen again. The truth of what happened that night is just as bizarre and murky as it was in 2004. But the Alex family is hopeful that through a tangled web of speculation and rumors, the truth will eventually emerge. After all, how much longer can somebody keep a secret? If you have any information on the disappearance of Jeremy Alex, please contact the Maine State Police Major Crimes Central at (207) 624-7076 ext. 9. Episode sources and photos: blog coming soon! 1987 - Roxbury, Massachusetts. It was Labor Day weekend in 1987. 19-year-old Dora Brimage was celebrating her friend’s birthday when she got into a car to head to a club called Joe’s Jaguar. She never came home. Her body was found the following morning at a construction site when the workers showed up for their shift. For years, Dora’s case sat unnoticed in a pile of Boston’s unsolved crimes. It hadn’t gotten much coverage when it first happened, and it all but seemed like Dora had faded into history.  Until 2013, when the DNA from her kit was processed for the first time, revealing a killer who had been there all along.  Episode sources and photos: https://www.murdershetold.com/episodes/dora-brimage Support Murder, She Told: https://www.murdershetold.com/support Instagram: @murdershetoldpodcast TikTok: @murdershetold Facebook: /mstpodcast Website: murdershetold.com ----- Sponsors:  HoneyLove: Get 20% OFF at honeylove.com/SHETOLD Factor: Get 50% off your 1st box and 20% of the 2nd at factormeals.com/shetold50 with code shetold50. 1983 - Kittery, Maine.  Sometime after leaving work on February 3, 1983, 31-year-old Reeves K. Johnson vanished without a trace. Over the next three weeks, his bank account was drained to make strange purchases that weren’t discovered until the account was overdrawn. The case went cold almost immediately. In 2021, Murder, She Told produced a special episode on Reeves’ case, but a lot has changed since then. This is not that episode. In collaboration with the Kittery Police Dept, we have uncovered new information that wasn’t known before. Listen to Reeves Johnson’s story with a fresh perspective and new interview, go behind the scenes of the investigation, and hear first-hand how we discovered the first major clues of this newly re-opened unsolved case.  If you have any information on the disappearance of Reeves Johnson, please contact Sgt. 1968 - Huntington Beach, California. On the afternoon of March 14, 1968, a group of boys playing on a vacant lot in Huntington Beach, CA stumbled on a grim discovery: the body of a young woman. It was clear the woman had been murdered, but investigators were unable to determine who she was. Despite exhaustive efforts, the identity of the Huntington Beach Jane Doe would remain a mystery for over 50 years. Meanwhile in Maine, the family of Anita Piteau was still searching for her… and it wouldn’t be until 2020 that they would finally know what happened.  But questions still linger: who was her killer, Johnny Chrisco, and why was Anita in his car?  Huntington Beach Police are seeking information on Johnny Chrisco to try and answer questions about Anita’s death. 1968 - Huntington Beach, California. Anita Piteau dreamed of getting out of Augusta, Maine. As a teenager, she’d been committed to the Maine Industrial School for Girls: a reform school that aimed to turn rebellious, troubled, and misfit girls into promising young women.  When she left the school, Anita was far from reformed. If anything, she was more determined than ever to live her life on her own terms. In December of 1967, Anita packed up and went to California in search of adventure.  But a few months later, her family suddenly stopped hearing from her, and nobody could get in touch. Anita was a free spirit, but she’d never just cut off her family like this.  Did something terrible happen to Anita Piteau? Or was she just caught up in her newfound freedom and life in a new city? 1971 - Farmington, Maine. When 15-year-old Judith Hand went missing after failing to report to her after-school babysitting job on September 10, 1971, the Farmington Police told her family she’d be back.  Her family wasn’t convinced. They knew something was wrong. Judy was extremely responsible, and wouldn’t just skip out on her job let alone not come home.  Thirteen days later, Judy's body was found buried in a decaying sawdust pile at an abandoned mill. Though her cause of death was undetermined, there was no question the baby-faced teen had been murdered. While the agonizing search for Judy had ended, the hunt for her killer had only just begun. The murder of Judy Hand remains unsolved. If you have any information, please contact the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-South at (207) 624-7076 X9, or toll free at 1-800-228-0857. 2010 - Gilford, New Hampshire. Sometime in the evening hours of October 31, 2010, somebody shot and killed 54-year-old Roberta Miller (who went by Bobbie) and her dog, Sport, in her home in Gilford, NH. According to her brother, it seemed like a personal attack or something professionally done. Bobbie had recently moved into the home after finalizing her divorce—a bitter battle that spanned over 3 years. She was attending college to earn a business degree, going on dates, and was looking forward to an independent future.  Bobbie’s family is frustrated with the lack of updates and progress, and they’re not afraid to speak out. On the surface, the answer seems clear. But as deeper layers of this case are pulled back, a cascade of questions and mystery are revealed, leaving room for doubt. 1988 - Lawrence, Massachusetts. On the afternoon of September, 12, 1988, a railyard worker for B&M Railroad in Lawrence, MA made a horrifying discovery on the tracks: the body of 11-year-old Melissa Ann Tremblay who was missing from Salem, NH. Investigators quickly realized this was no train accident—that something more sinister happened to the young girl—and the killer tried to cover up his crime by staging the gruesome scene.  For decades the case was cold… until April of 2022, when a former corrections officer was arrested at his home in Alabama. Marvin “Skip” McClendon, Jr went to trial in December 2023… But did investigators get the right man? 2022 - Concord, New Hampshire. On December 15th, 2023, I had the opportunity to attend the sentencing hearing of 27-year-old Logan Clegg, who had recently been convicted of the murders of Stephen and Djeswende "Wendy" Reid in Concord, NH from April of 2022. From hearing arguments on both sides, to victim impact statements, and hearing Logan himself speak—all rise, to gavel—this is what it was like attending the sentencing of Logan Clegg. Steve and Wendy Reid and their loved ones finally have justice. 1996 - Stamford, Connecticut. Becoming a teenage mother didn’t stop 18-year-old Rhonda Johnson from pursuing her dreams. In fact, it only gave her more motivation. While working part time at the hospital, Rhonda was also busy taking classes at the community college. Her drive was fueled by the commitment to a promising future—not just for herself—but also for her 8-month-old son, Cor'an. That dream was stolen on the evening of September 12th, 1996 when both mother and baby were found dead in Rhonda’s mother’s car. They’d both been shot.  This incredibly senseless act of violence stirred up heartbreak and fury in the Stamford community. What kind of person shoots a young woman and her baby in cold blood? Rhonda’s mother, Blanche, couldn’t fathom why anyone would want to hurt her daughter let alone an innocent baby. She has fond and bittersweet memories of her daughter and grandson, and she is sharing them on Murder, She Told. This is the story of Rhonda and Cor'an Johnson. See sources and photos here: https://murdershetold.com/episodes/rhonda-johnson If you have any information on the murders of Rhonda and Cor'an Johnson, please call the Stamford Police Department Crime Stoppers Hotline at 203-977-TIPS or email the CT Cold Case Unit at cold.case@ct.gov. 1978 - Bellingham, Massachusetts  Theresa Corley was only 19 when she was found dead on the side of the highway in Bellingham, MA in December of 1978. Theresa left the Train Stop bar on foot, and ended up trying to hitchhike home... She was instead brought to an apartment building nearby where it’s believed she was assaulted before fleeing the scene in mis-matched shoes. Two days later, her body was discovered.  After decades without answers, her sister, Gerri, reached a breaking point. Determined to get answers for Theresa’s unsolved murder, she resolved to take action, regardless of the obstacles… including exhuming her sister's body for evidence, and fearlessly confronting one of the suspects on his own doorstep… This is part 2 of Theresa Corley's story. 1978 - Bellingham, Massachusetts. At the age of 19, Theresa Corley held a promising future. As the first of nine siblings to pursue college—a goal she worked to finance herself—she had aspirations of becoming a pediatrician.  But on the night of December 5th, 1978, Theresa, who was out celebrating with friends at Franklin's Train Stop bar, didn't return home. Her friend’s said they last saw her leaving the bar sometime before midnight on foot following a fight with her boyfriend. Theresa didn’t have a car, and the trek home was miles away.  Three days later, on December 8th, her nude body was discovered halfway down a steep ditch on the side of the highway. She had been strangled. As investigators dug into the mystery of Theresa’s final hours alive, unsettling narratives surrounding a party at a nearby apartment came to light, placing Theresa there after she left the bar. What secrets were being hidden in that apartment? Were they connected to Theresa’s murder? Determined to discover what really happened, Theresa’s sister, Gerri Houde, has embarked on a relentless quest for the truth; and she’s telling her story on Murder, She Told.  This is part one of Theresa Corley’s story. 1992 - Clarksville, Tennessee. On the evening of December 24, 1992, 25-year-old Susan Lund left her home for ingredients to make a pie. The young mother never returned home. About a month later, female remains were located 300 miles away in Ina, Illinois, but investigators couldn't figure out who she was. 30 years later, the woman known only as Ina Jane Doe was finally identified as Susan Minard Lund. Susan's murder remains unsolved. Laura Norton, host of The Fall Line and One Strange Thing podcast, spent more than a year working with and learning from forensic experts across the country as she collaborated with anthropologists, DNA experts, and investigative genetic genealogists to help identify Susan Lund. Her new book, Lay Them to Rest, takes a fascinating deep dive into the dark world of forensic science, and a personal look at the people behind the scenes working to solve decades old mysteries. Today, Laurah joins me on Murder, She Told for a conversation about what it's like working to reconnect the names of the unidentified, how she approaches cold case and Jane Doe research, and what investigators need from you to help find Susan's killer. 2022 - Concord, New Hampshire. On the afternoon of April 18th, 2022, Stephen and Djeswende "Wendy" Reid were shot to death while walking on the Broken Ground Trails near their apartment in Concord, NH.  Steve and Wendy represented the best of humanity. They had recently retired and moved back to Steve’s hometown of Concord to settle down and enjoy a slower pace of life after spending decades doing humanitarian work all over the world. Who would do this to such a beloved couple? In October 2022, police arrested and eventually charged 25-year-old Logan Clegg with their murders. The intricate and complicated police work that tied Logan to the crime scene came just before his flight on a one way ticket out of the country.  One year later, Logan’s trial has concluded. We now have a verdict in the case. This is an update to the episode “Justice for Steve & Wendy Reid: The Capture of Logan Clegg” released on November 8, 2022. Unsafe Spaces is a serialized podcast from Josh Hallmark (True Crime Bullsh**) that explores crimes that corrupt and exploit the places we’re meant to feel the safest; be it our churches, the gay community, or even our own homes. The first season: Tampa’s Missing Men, focuses on a series of disappearances and murders within Tampa’s gay community, and possibly beyond; and the two gay men who were committing some of Florida’s most heinous crimes with shocking impunity.  Unsafe Spaces is as obsessive and investigative as True Crime Bullsh**, while also focusing on the factors that led to and enabled the crimes, and then helped capture the pair of killers involved. It is as much about true crime as it is anthropology, politics, community, culture, and history. It is a holistic, heartfelt, and often very personal look at how these crimes happened. 2023 - Lewiston, Maine. On Wednesday, October, 25th, 2023, an armed gunman entered two locations in Lewiston, Maine—Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley and Schmengee’s Bar and Grill pool hall—and opened fire.  The shooter, who was identified as Robert Card, was on the run for 48-hours before taking his own life on Friday, October 27th. He killed 18 innocent people, and injured about 13 more. As a born and raised Mainer who creates this show from my home state, my heart is absolutely broken for the community, the families and friends directly impacted, and for this massive tragedy.  I felt compelled to create this short episode to honor the victims. My hope is that you walk away from this knowing something more about each of them as the amazing people they were, and not just as names on a list. 1958 - Falmouth, Maine. You won’t find the name Dennis Down featured on the Maine Unsolved Homicide List. You also won’t find anything on his murder on the internet.  Buried deep in the memories and archives of 1958, sits a brutal unsolved murder of a man who still hasn’t received justice.  At 63, Dennis and his wife Edith, both of England, had just purchased a new grocery store in Portland, ME’s Munjoy Hill neighborhood. They had recently become grandparents, and they were looking forward to the golden years of life. But on a cool morning in late June of 1958, somebody took it all away. Dennis was found beaten and stabbed in his home—a horrific crime that left police and everyone who knew him baffled. Despite extensive efforts to find the person responsible, nobody was ever arrested for the crime. Pulled from the archives, this is the cold case of Dennis Down. okay the prosecution did do a terrible job. but how could could every member of this jury be so unanimous in their laziness and cruelty? they did not deliberate that long for it being a "difficult" case.

while listening, when I heard "plea deal to take life imprisonment off the table" I braced myself for a lack of justice and the demoralizing feeling that brings. but I am happy at how this case ultimately resolved. I agree this guy had to have been involved in many more crimes than uncovered. he sure got away with a lot.

Ive listened to this story on the NC true crime podcast. The horomones he was taking os enough to send him over the edge. Why didnt the Doctors check on this. Women have fluctuations all the time and we know how this causes chemical imbalance and hot flashes. He could have been in psychosis.

James had been reading the Old Testament before he attacked his family; did he look for a way to overcome a crisis of faith that night, possibly by way of making a sacrifice? Or was he wondering whether God intended to test his faith, much like he had with Abraham, hoping to receive some kind of sign, akin to an epiphany or maybe some kind of divine intervention, which never came?
