Description

Sometimes I want to have a candid conversation with someone without the burden of keeping it clean.  Sometimes I just want to learn more about my guest and keep it all the way authentic.  Sometimes you just need that REAL and that's what I'm looking to bring to the forefront.

I had a wonderful time getting to know more about Tango Beats (@tangobeats727). We've ran in the same circle for a few years now but I finally got a chance to meet and pick the brain of a very dope individual. His transition in the music game is what intrigued me. He went from being part of a group to being his own headliner with dreams to pursue. Those dreams eventually led to him guiding upcoming artists with a vision and also original production. His story is common to me but the way he's managed to navigate is exceptional and you'll see why on this edition of the ToneDefTestimonies. A few years ago I had the pleasure of hosting an Album Release Party for an Artist with a vision bigger than himself. The project was called "Black Lives Matter" and touched on all of the themes that we are still seeing play out. This was over 5 years ago and his message continues to ring true. In the years since the show, I've personally watched Chris Jackson (@bdpmagazine813) separate and elevate. He saw an opportunity to guide the Artists with no direction and he ran with it. We talked about that and much more on this entry into the ToneDefTestimonies.Follow along with the #tonedeftestimonies at www.tone-kapone.com/tonedeftestimonies.
When it comes to the Tampa Bay music scene I've been blessed to see so many Artists ascend. It's crazy to think about how many years have passed since I met Fre$h P & Mike 2wice. But in that time I've seen them take over Tampa and build a buzz organically. Separately they're a problem. They're both dope in their own way. Together they're an unstoppable force and their chemistry is undeniable. I sat down and spoke with them about their upcoming project and how they've been able to progress to this point for this edition of the ToneDefTestimonies.Follow along with the #tonedeftestimonies at www.tone-kapone.com/tonedeftestimonies.
Samantha Leavell (@samantha_leav) wears many hats. While the Corona Virus was slowing our world down she accelerated towards her dreams. In pursuit of her passions she has quickly ascended in the Media field. Over the past few months, literally, she has become a Publicist, an amazing Music Review creator, a VP of Public Relations for Certified Nation Entertainment and an upcoming Podcast and Radio Host as well as being a Brand Ambassador for HerStoryTold. We talked about the importance of timing and being able to utilize your talents to enhance your life on this edition of the ToneDefTestimonies. Over the past few years I've personally watched Big Business (@bighlw) elevate his game to another level. I met him as a Hip-Hop Artist but he's since put on an amazing Web Series titled "What's Real Hip-Hop" that was vital in the progression of the music scene in Tampa Bay. He incorporated area artists into his film "20/20 Vision" and he followed that up with his "Transition Talks" platform which brings weekly messages to the masses. He's not afraid to be great and he wants his events to have purpose. We spoke about that in great detail and also about his 1st event of the year (202ONE) and the difficulties the pandemic brought to the forefront. I had another full circle moment with this edition of the ToneDefTestimonies. RayBudsky (@raybudsky1) and Shawn October (@shawnoctober) were the very 1st guests on Waves Of The Bay and it was only right to bring them back for the Testimonies. They just started a new music label and we had to dive into the reasonings behind it, how they intend to do it different and also the challenges of the level up. They dropped some jewels and also a few challenges to the Sucka M.C.s out there!Follow along with the #tonedeftestimonies at www.tone-kapone.com/tonedeftestimonies.
Rahim Samad (@rahimsamad) is a perfect blend of Hip-Hop. On one hand he utilizes his ear to provide the backdrop for the moment as a DJ. On the other hand he can rock a microphone and command a crowd as a MC. I talked with him about the different mindsets going into each job and what, if any, he could live without. We also debuted two new tracks from his recent album which dropped 11/30: Nubian Tapestries.Follow along with the #tonedeftestimonies at www.tone-kapone.com/tonedeftestimonies.
I got the chance to catch up to JAY WIZZ (@jay05wizz) for this installment of the ToneDefTestimonies. Wizz is a Producer/Engineer who also creates and hosts events for his fellow producers. He's starting to get into the management side of the music industry and we talked about how his journey has come full circle. Brixton Bang (@brixtonbang) is a one-stop shop when it comes to an Artist Image and Sound. He is an amazing Hip-Hop Producer who embraces his aggressiveness to craft breakneck beats. He is also an exceptional Graphic Design Artist and is able to assist Artists with quality branding. We talked about how his dedication to both crafts has enabled him to pursue his passions.Follow along with the #tonedeftestimonies at www.tone-kapone.com/tonedeftestimonies.
B. Blaize (@blaize27) is a throwback when it comes to his music. He puts lyricism on display in a day and age where few can match his wordplay. I've personally watched him attack being a performing Hip-Hop Artist with the same aggressiveness he channeled back in his Battle Rap days. We talked about his new project and the importance of quality music. We also focused on the come up, how he built his buzz and the importance of branding. Reh Rek aka Rekless (@rehrek) is a hip-hop artist out of St. Petersburg, FL. He's been putting in work and paying his dues for decades now! His new project "As Long As I Live And Breathe" was just released on 10/20/20 and I got a moment to talk with him about it and how his sound has evolved over the years. We spoke briefly on his music label, Authentic Core Music Group, and balancing the dynamics of each artist under it's umbrella. We also got into life and how he's been maintaining with the pandemic, politics and the police being so invasive. Follow along with the #tonedeftestimonies at www.tone-kapone.com/tonedeftestimonies.
