Host(s): Abram Nanney, Shane Chism, and Sabir Abdul-Haqq (www.yourebs.biz)Topic: A couple weeks ago we actually got our first talk to us message asking us to talk about the types of technology used in the Super Bowl. From drone shows to augmented reality, there were a lot of things maybe a few people had never seen before, but they’ve been around for a while. So today on Everyday Tech, we’re gonna expand that prompt a little to also include other ways we have seen this technology used. Thanks to Mike from Tupelo for suggesting this to us.Email your tech questions and opinions to: everydaytech@mpbonline.org Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Host(s): Abram Nanney, Shane Chism, and Sabir Abdul-Haqq (www.yourebs.biz)Topic: When does technology go too far? Where do people draw the line? In recent weeks, it seems we’ve found some people’s limits with technology and the world of AI. A new videogame has been accused of using AI art for its assets. There was a chatbot campaigning for president. AI being used maliciously to create explicit images. And also, a possibly unfortunate end to important telecommunications legislation. What does all this mean going forward?Email your tech questions and opinions to: everydaytech@mpbonline.org Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Jerome has been a leader in the field of artificial intelligence for 25 years and has played a fundamental role in the advancement of tech companies like BenevolentAI, IBM, Meta, and now, Sizzle. Host(s): Abram Nanney, Shane Chism, and Sabir Abdul-Haqq (www.yourebs.biz)Topic: Today on Everyday Tech, we’re returning to the Versus Series where we pit two products or services against each other and see what the pros and cons or advantages and disadvantages of each are. A popular debate in the gaming community is over which console people prefer, Xbox or Playstation. In order to help our audience be better informed, we wanna take the time today to compare and contrast the two in several areas. Previously when we tried to bring this subject up, we had some callers call in to share the love for Nintendo Switch and other consoles, which are great, but today we just wanna talk Xbox vs. PlayStation. Email your tech questions and opinions to: everydaytech@mpbonline.org Hosted on Acast. Host(s): Abram Nanney, Shane Chism, and Sabir Abdul-Haqq (www.yourebs.biz)Topic: Yesterday was a big day for many high school students across the state. The Mississippi High School Activities Association crowned the Esports State Champions at the University of Southern Mississippi on December 12. If you aren’t aware – an Esport, or electronic sport, is an activity where competitors battle against each other in a videogame to see who is the best. Today I’m gonna take you through my first experience of being at an esports event in-person at the Mississippi High School State Championships. The students combatted each other in three different videogames: Super Smash Brothers, Madden NFL, and Rocket League. Four schools qualified for each videogame, meaning twelve schools total were in attendance. Players started their day with a semifinals matchup, and if they won, advanced to the finals, the victors then earning the title of State Champion. While Madden and Smash Brothers are available for purchase, Rocket League is free on all platforms for anyone interested in the game. You can find the full day stream of the State Championships at the University of Southern Mississippi's Twitch ChannelEmail your tech questions and opinions to: everydaytech@mpbonline.org Hosted on Acast. Host(s): Abram Nanney, Shane Chism, and Sabir Abdul-Haqq (www.yourebs.biz)Topic: Recently on the show, I spoke with a guest about how Mississippi is under-represented in the STEM world. But did you know that Mississippi actually ranks as the second-best state to pursue a career in game development? Did you know the latest military supercomputer is located in Mississippi? So despite our general lack of careers in technology, Mississippi headlines tech news quite often and today we’re talking about those headlines. And of course, the server is open to troubleshoot your calls and questions as well.Email your tech questions and opinions to: everydaytech@mpbonline.org Hosted on Acast.
