In this episode of The Pod so HARDcast we talk with Roman Prokopchuk. Roman is one hell of a man with one hell of a story. Although his breadth and depth is substantial, we focus on his involvement with the Social Care system, primarily with the foster care system. Roman and his wife have fostered 25 children and growing in less than 3 years. There are more than 400,000 children in the foster care system. These children come from all walks of life. Many of the kids in the foster system come from VERY, VERY difficult situations. Roman and his wife have opened their home to some of these children to show them love, stability, compassion, and hope. They are the voice of the voiceless. They are advocates for the smallest, most fragile among us. They are superheroes without capes that we need to recognize and help them spread the message.  In this episode:What to expect when you’re expecting (to foster a child)Problems with the Social Care SystemWays for everyone to help if they can’t fosterMore about the foster system in America:Foster AmericaFoster Care StatisticsDONATE to Together We Rise by clicking here.Help and volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters by clicking here.Connect with Roman, find his podcast The Digital Savage Experience, and more by clicking here.Let us know what you think and continue the conversation:Facebook @podsohardcastTwitter @podsohardcastInstagram @podsohardcastStream The Pod so HARDcast on YouTubeContact us:Send questions, content/guest ideas, or suggestions to podsohardcast@gmail.comOr, leave a voicemail at 1 (240) 466-4233

They need grit, determination, and resiliency to overcome the pain and carve a path forwardExcerpt: Don’t use your history as an excuse for mediocrity! The moment you start poking your finger at someone and telling them to be accountable, that’s the moment they don’t want to talk to you anymore. You have to phrase it in a way in which you remove the excuse from them, and you give them an excuse to be better. You give them an opportunity to be resilient. You give them an opportunity to be strong and accountable.A little about Mark Calvin:Mark Calvin has a BA in Social Studies from Oklahoma Panhandle State University and a MS in Educational Leadership from Emporia State University.  Mr. Calvin has 22 years experience in education as a teacher and an administrator.  He strives to positively impact struggling students by customizing their success plan.Where to find more about Mark:Check out his YouTube ChannelRead his eBook completely free! And hear more on his podcastBooks mentioned in this episode:The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity -Nadine Burke Harris, M.D.More about the ACE Test:A very detailed explanation that I recommend readingLet us know what you think and continue the conversation:Facebook @podsohardcastTwitter @podsohardcastInstagram @podsohardcastStream The Pod so HARDcast on YouTubeContact us:Send questions, content/guest ideas, or suggestions to podsohardcast@gmail.comOr, leave a voicemail at 1 (240) 466-4233
