Before cell phones and internet access, learning about the world around us took a lot of time. Along the way, there would be gaps in our knowledge—holes that human cultures tended to fill with folklore. something about this story has always been eerily similar to the massacres that occurred throughout Lousiana and Texas around the same time in history...

Excellent story, but please research the pronunciation of the places you mention. That particular Oregon lighthouse, which is purportedly the most photographed lighthouse in the world, is actually pronounced /hah-SEE-tah/. As a native Oregonian, I do understand the difficulty in pronouncing so many of our unusual place names, but it's common courtesy to learn the proper way to say them, just as if someone else were learning YOUR name. Otherwise, keep up the great work!

The room may have had a carbon monoxide leak. It gives hallucinations and panic until it suffocates you. Things gor better when people went up maybe because doors were oppened. It would be interesting to see if the deaths happened in Winter, Late Autumn or Early Spring since that's when people used to burn wood or oil for heat.
