Happiness is something we all talk about and want to have.  This time of year especially we are all looking to feel happy.  Today we talk about the premise of happiness and how being aware of our thoughts and emotions can help us to be happy. It is in the shifting of focus, the surrendering, and the awareness that helps us feel happy on a day-to-day basis.  Gotta want to do the work.  We help us all with that here.  Please follow us at https://www.instagram.com/mindfulvibin/Subscribe on itunes, spotify, or any of the other podcast hubs we are on.  The list is located here https://mindfulvibin.buzzsprout.comShare with all of your friends and family! Also remember to email us at mindfulvibin@gmail.com for questions, comments or requests for future podcast topics.
You might find some humor in this episode as Doug shares about an experience with toilet paper hanging out his backside. This episode was about being aware of an emotion that didn’t feel good, taking that awareness, and then shifting to another emotion by choosing to feel good about something else. We can all practice this in the flow of life. Jennifer was experiencing some emotions and we discussed how she was able to be aware of the emotion and then switch her thoughts to something that felt better rather than letting this emotion snowball into worse feeling emotions. We think it is a practice you can do every day. Remember it is a practice. Enjoy. Please follow us at https://www.instagram.com/mindfulvibin/Subscribe on itunes, spotify, or any of the other podcast hubs we are on.  The list is located here https://mindfulvibin.buzzsprout.comShare with all of your friends and family! Also remember to email us at mindfulvibin@gmail.com for questions, comments, or requests for future podcast topics.

Splitting Your Energy

Splitting Your Energy

2021-07-1318:03

Most of us experience “splitting energy” on a regular basis.  We are feeling good about something one moment and then in the next moment we think about that same thing in a negative way.  This is called splitting energy.  Today we talk about this and how to slow down this process.  It may never go away completely, but we can use our awareness to help bring our thoughts back to what feels best.  We really enjoyed recording this episode. This isn’t the first or last time we will talk about how our ability to be emotionally aware impacts our children’s ability to be aware of their own emotions.  Children that are able to do this have greater parent-reported cooperation, assertion, social competence, and better social behaviors. Today we discuss how we, as parents, can use our emotional awareness to deal with a common issue in kids; bullying. We also talk about how to parent from the “top half” of the emotional guidance scale.  Hope you enjoy! Please follow us at https://www.instagram.com/mindfulvibin/Subscribe on itunes, spotify, or any of the other podcast hubs we are on.  The list is located here https://mindfulvibin.buzzsprout.comShare with all of your friends and family! Also remember to email us at mindfulvibin@gmail.com for questions, comments or requests for podcast topics.

Social media is constantly evolving and we as a society are spending more and more time with social media. Today we wanted to chat about how emotional awareness can be very powerful when engaging with social media.  Some of the strategies we discuss include thinking about how you are feeling before you start scrolling, be mindful and aware while using it, and when it is time to shut it off, do so. Social media is not bad or good, it is how present and aware we are as we participate in social media. Enjoy. We are living in a society where we are going, going, going all of the time.  We aim to achieve goals and obtain new, more “things”.  Sometimes this may take us further from the connection to ourselves.  Today we talk about how to navigate being vs doing; using the way we feel to guide what we do.  We will explore which is the driver of your actions, motivation or inspiration.  We will offer some strategies to be able to tune into and understand the difference between those two things.   We hope you enjoy!

As the third podcast in a three part series we finish up with the relationship with our kids. What is good to keep in mind is that first, we must be having a relationship with ourselves, again, this is the most important relationship and impacts all others.  Importantly as we have been talking about on the show, our practices of mindfulness can be part of our journey with our relationship with our children.  Being mindful means unconditional love, giving our children space, and having healthy boundaries.  We want to be able to give children autonomy so that they are able to listen to their inner being and develop a sense of responsibility over their lives (and their emotions).  As a parent, we teach by what we do more than what we say.  Leading our children from a space of being connected makes all the difference.  And it takes practice.  Enjoy the episode.  Know that you are a perfect parent in each and every moment as you are doing the best that you can.
Today we visit about relationships with partners.  We all tend to have ideals about our partners in relationships.  We also sometimes try to change or control our partner.  But if we are focused on our relationships with ourselves, we can see our partner in a more positive manner.  And we musn’t forget that the best way to practice love with ourselves is our mindfulness practices.  We loved this conversation and we hope you do too! The articles we referred to are in the links below...https://www.dropbox.com/s/r50z379nhh5zqq2/The_benefits_of_positive_illus.pdf?dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/home/Mindful%20Vibin/Podcasts/Episode%2018?preview=relationships+partners+.pdfThe example of the calibration exercise we did in the episode in in the link below...https://jenhubertyphd.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/85048B8F-AC97-4DFA-AF85-877AE15FA8B0.pngPlease follow us at https://www.instagram.com/mindfulvibin/Subscribe on itunes, spotify, or any of the other podcast hubs we are on.  The list is located here https://mindfulvibin.buzzsprout.comShare with all of your friends and family! Also remember to email us at mindfulvibin@gmail.com for questions, comments or requests for podcast topics.
Cultivating relationships starts with you!  One of the most important elements of this is groundedness, the ability to be in touch with your emotions.  Groundedness helps a person from getting lost in past stories, beliefs and experiences.  It allows someone to carry into the next experience from a place of awareness of the body, emotions, how we think and how we respond. Today we will talk about what we believe are important components that make up the infrastructure of a relationship.  We even tap into our relationship and how this has grown as our relationship with our individual selves has grown.  Hope you enjoy! Understanding ourselves is an important part of being a leader.  Leadership is not an “all or nothing approach”.  Leadership is about leading ourselves first.  We have to understand our own knowledge, attitudes and behaviors.  This will help support personal development and a compassionate and inclusive culture at work.  We chat about this today and offer some guidance about how to appreciate yourself and your abilities, how to listen to yourself and create happiness at work (and outside of work) so that you can lead with heart.  Enjoy!Thank you so much for listening!!Please follow us at https://www.instagram.com/mindfulvibin/Subscribe on itunes, spotify, or any of the other podcast hubs we are on.  The list is located here https://mindfulvibin.buzzsprout.comShare with all of your friends and family! Also remember to email us at mindfulvibin@gmail.com for questions, comments or requests for podcast topics.
How do we navigate work within the context of emotional awareness?  This is an important question to consider because we spend 80% of our lives at work.  In Part 2 of our Whistle While You Work series we talk about the term resilience and how we have resilience working with others in addition to deadlines and work expectations.  We chat about self-compassion and how this leads to greater resilience and productivity at work.  We also talk about the emotional guidance scale so that we can reframe how we think about deadlines. We hope you can take this information and truly apply it to your work environment.
