Welcome back to CannaBlogger’s Corner! Glad you could join me in my corner this week for our monthly w0lfpack special review episode. This month, I’m h0wling with Will and Shayna from the pack about the DotLeaf V1.5 Dry Herb Vaporizer. Full disclosure: I never tried a vaporizer before, so I was coming into this feeling like a real newb. Fortunately, I got to compare notes with Will and Shayna to see if I was doing it right. Was I? You’ll have to listen to find out. The DotLeaf Dry Herb Vaporizer is a convenient device that allows the consumer a discreet way to get their medicine on the go, especially in markets where vaping cannabis oil is not allowed. We talk about all the DotLeaf’s neat features, learn a few things we didn’t know before, and discuss some areas we feel could be improved. Did we give it a thumbs up or thumbs down? Hit that Play button and find out. Make sure you check out w0lfpack Creators Will and Shayna online and follow them on Instagram for detailed and informative product reviews on even more great products. Welcome to a special Comic-Con edition of CannaBlogger's Corner! This week, San Diego Comic-Con International co-founder and legendary animator/cartoonist Scott Shaw joins me to talk about Comic-Con, his epic career, and some obscure movies I haven't thought about in a long time.  If you're not familiar with Shaw's name, don't sweat it; most people aren't. But you have seen his work if you ever watched Saturday morning cartoons or walked down the cereal aisle. Shaw has contributed to The Flintstones, The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley, Jim Henson's Muppet Babies, The Simpsons, Sonic: The Hedgehog, and many more. Scott also has his own Oddball Comics series as well as other characters he created with some heavy "inspiration" from his years with Hanna-Barbera, like my personal favorite, Flynt Stoner. As if he weren't busy enough, Scott's commissions are open, so you can order an original, custom piece straight from the legend himself (like I did). Contact Shaw at shawcartoons@gmail.com, and he will go over his rates with you. It's more than worth it.  CannaBlogger’s Corner is sponsored by: Better Homes with Cannabis. Welcome to another episode of CannaBlogger’s Corner! This week, Jeni Griffith is back in the corner to talk about her latest veterans’ support group she helped found, the UNFK Yourself Club (or just UNFK if you’re into the whole brevity thing), a “cannabis-friendly veteran-to-veteran support group.” Believe it or not, the 4th of July is not easy for a lot of veterans struggling with PTSD; we don’t tend to do well with sudden explosions or loud noises. The members of this group are able to lean on each other during these triggering events and help each other get through them in a safe, healthy way. And yes, they smoke weed. These men and women have each tried to manage their symptoms with pharmaceuticals and other toxic substances with little to no help. They rely on cannabis and each other to keep themselves grounded in the moment and not allow these triggers to make them lose their shit on every poor bastard that happens to be around them. Sit back, relax, and get ready to meet the UNFK Yourself Club. CannaBlogger’s Corner is sponsored by: Better Homes with Cannabis. My guest this week, Jackie Bryant, is one of my biggest influences. Her resume is extensive and impressive, with bylines in everything from SD City Beat to Playboy and everything in between. Look for Jackie’s work on UPROXX as well, where she recently became a staff contributor. I was thrilled to spend some time with Jackie in my corner talking about her newsletter, Cannabitch, her podcast of the same name (also on the YEW! Podcast Network), our mutual admiration for gonzo journalism, and some of the weird but exciting stories that have come her way. CannaBlogger’s Corner is sponsored by: Better Homes with Cannabis. The Arlo Show

The Arlo Show

2021-06-1439:28

You might recognize my guest’s voice if you ever turned on a radio in San Diego; from his days at 91X all the way to killing it as 100.7FM’s morning show host, Chris Cantore has been one of the most distinct voices to come across the airwaves. Unfortunately, he and his co-host, Meryl, were victims of what I like to call the Great San Diego Radio Station Purge of 2019. For those of you not familiar, about 98% of San Diego’s local radio talent lost their shows when stations shifted to nationally syndicated shows that offered the same canned bullshit catering to the lowest common denominator we’ve been subjected to for decades. Of course, we all know what happened at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, so he had some time on his hands. For us creatives, idle hands are the devil’s toys, so he looked for alternative outlets for his creative energies. One of those outlets is the animated short, The Arlo Show. It follows the adventures of Arlo (voiced by Cantore), who takes a bad acid trip in 1971 and winds up waking up in 2021. Harassed by local beat cop, Officer Mahoney (voiced by SoCal legend Chris Coté), Arlo must now learn how to navigate 2021 after his 50-year Ichabod Crane. I am really excited about this week’s episode! CannaBlogger’s Corner and w0lfpack have teamed up to take over the cannabis industry. OK, maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but I’ve got Baylee Chapo (the “el Chapo” of the w0lfpack) back with me to help explain how we’ll be working together to bring you awesome content featuring w0lfpack creators from all over the U.S. We also get on our soapbox a little about corporate cannabis and federal legalization (we’re looking at you, Bezos). Get ready for a wild ride, because when Baylee and I get to talking, we usually have a lot to say. CannaBlogger’s Corner is sponsored by Better Homes with Cannabis. This week’s episode is a two-fer. First, Alexia Bullard (@Booklexia on Instagram) and I are starting a monthly review segment. Each month, she and I are going to compare notes on some cannabis products. Sometimes, we might try the same thing; others, like this week, we each try something a little different. Think of us as the “Siskel and Ebert of cannabis.” This week, Alexia tried some Super Silver Haze from High Garden, while I mixed some GMO from CRU Cannabis and Blueberry Kush, also from High Garden. Did we give them a bongs up or bongs down? You’ll have to listen to find out. Next, I have a really cool treat for you. Yani @hazeylioness and Becky @bakedwithbecky_ have joined their wacky forces to create their own podcast, Baked and Hazey. I got to hang with these crazy canna queens and get a taste of the shenanigans to come on their upcoming show. Make sure you’re following their podcast’s Instagram page, not to mention their individual Instagram pages, and turn on those notifications! You won’t want to miss a second! Hey, everybody! Welcome to Episode 26 of CannaBlogger’s Corner. This week’s episode is going to be a little different. I’ve planned a season finale of sorts to celebrate my first half-year of producing and hosting this podcast. First, I’d like to start with a review of CRU Cannabis’s GMO Cookies, which is already one of my favorite strains. The folks at CRU really knocked it out of the park, and I’ll tell you why in a bit. After I do that, I’d like to indulge in a moment of gratitude, if you’ll allow me. I’ve come so much further in these first 6 months than I ever thought I would, and I thought I’d take a minute to shout out some people who helped me get this far. There are some who have been particularly helpful and inspirational to me, and I’d like to mention them, if I may. First, I want to thank Chris Cantore for all his invaluable advice and direction. I never would have been able to start the way I did without his help and guidance. I’m proud to be part of his YEW! Podcast Network. Speaking of, another member of the YEW! Podcast Network whose advice helped me was Jackie Bryant. I’ve admired her written work for a long time, and to be in the same podcast network is, well, humbling. She’s broken some great stories lately and evolved her own Cannabitch podcast. Go check out her work. For some reason, Yani Amaya thinks CannaBlogger’s Corner is worth something, so she decided to become my very first sponsor. I will always appreciate the amount of faith and encouragement she’s shown me. She’s investing time and money in me; I really hope I don’t let her down. Finally, I want to thank everyone who has been on the show, from Laura and her Canna Mom Gang in Episode 1 to Bryan Buckley and HVGC this past week in Episode 25 and everyone in between. Of course, thank you for listening and tagging along with me. Remember all those season finale cliffhangers we grew up with? How they ended the season finale right in the middle of something to make sure you tuned in for the next season? Crazy, huh? Well, until next week, and next season, stay… -- CannaBlogger’s Corner is sponsored by Better Homes with Cannabis. This week, I’m getting Pennsylvania White with Bryan Buckley from Helmand Valley Growers Company (or HVGC, if you’re into that whole brevity thing). We talk about how HVGC grew out of the Battle Brothers Foundation to produce their line of vape carts, whose profits go toward veterans’ cannabis research. I get to try one of their yummy new live resin carts, and it’s… well, just listen and find out. We compare experiences with Navy medicine, the VA, and post-military adjustment. Most of all, we show mad appreciation for our spouses, without whose support we would be in a much worse place in our respective lives. -- CannaBlogger’s Corner is sponsored by Better Homes with Cannabis. On this week’s episode, I have the super talented Erica Eddy from the Canna Mom Gang chilling with me in the corner. You’ll get to hear about her hand-made cannabis accessory line, The Lit Hippie Co., and just how much love she puts into each piece she creates. She also opens up about how much the Canna Mom Gang supports and uplifts each other, her wild and artistic family, and how much that family has been supporting her side, now main, hustle. This week, I’m switching things up a little. First, I did a solo review of Seth Rogen’s cannabis line, Houseplant, which he recently started selling in the U.S. I tried their Banana Belt, a cross between Banana OG and GMO, and I was… well, I guess you’ll have to listen to find out. Next, I get to fanboy a little over my guest, fellow cannablogger Alexia Bullard. We chat about her Booklexia Content Marketing brand, her reviewing style, and get nerdy over cannabis. Oh, and cats. Finally, I have a sponsor! Yani Amaya, the Hazey Lioness, has taken her cannabis photography to another level by using it in a stylish home décor design that would look fabulous in any home. I hope everyone enjoyed their highest of holidays last week. Welcome to a special edition, special edish, if you will, episode of CannaBlogger’s Corner. I’m going to guess you’re like me in that you celebrate 4/20 the whole week, or at least again on 4/22 (because 4/22 is 4/20, too). That’s what I did this year when I was asked to attend The Gentleman Gorilla’s VIP Farmer’s Cup Judges Sesh on April 22. Some of the SoCal Cannabis Industry’s finest were on hand, and I got to chat with some of them. Our host and prior guest on CannaBlogger’s Corner, Greg, The Gentleman Gorilla, gives us a perspective on his event and how it came together. Bestselling author and founder of Cannabis Synergy JM Balbuena talks about what she’s been up to lately as well as which was the best ride at Hershey Park (the Sooper Dooper Looper, obv). Duane from Boycott Shitty Weed was tending the dab bar, where we got to sample the five concentrate entries in this year’s Farmer’s Cup. I can’t tell you what brands we sampled (because we don’t know), but there was some fire on hand. We all loved #5 from the gate, but #2 was a sleeper hit, giving us a stronger high than we were expecting. And it was very citrusy. Finally, I got to chat with Ashley about her Luna Wild clothing line. Her India-inspired jackets and robes explode with color. Each item is beautifully and carefully hand-made by former victims of sex trafficking in Mumbai. I also got to run into Amy and Seth (The Nugget Nerds), Janet from Chingona Cakes, Yani, the Hazey Lioness, and so many other good friends from the industry but didn’t get the chance to sit down and record with them (this time). Thanks once again to The Gentleman Gorilla for hosting an amazing event. I’m very much looking forward to the next one. -- Huge thanks to Chris Cantore and the YEW! Podcast Network! Happy 4/20 week, Canna Fam! As we prepare to recognize our highest of holidays, Brittany Matthews (a.k.a.: @tittytoker on Instagram) wants to get people together to do something special. Since this week is also Earth Day (4/22), which also happens to be her birthday, Brittany decided to hold a Birthday Bash Beach Cleanup. Each participant will go home with a goodie bag filled with some great products (some medicated, yes), and there will be prizes (yes, medicated) for the most trash picked up. But all work and no play makes TittyToker a bad girl. After the work, the fun begins with a ganja yoga sesh (so bring a mat or towel) followed by DJ VeeV, The Cannabis DJ, setting the perfect birthday bash vibe. Come ready to sesh, work, and party hard for TittyToker's birthday. You can RSVP at her EventHi link here. -- Huge thanks to Chris Cantore and the YEW! Podcast Network! I love art. Apart from cannabis, I can’t think of anything more therapeutic for me. That being said, this week’s episode is near and dear to my stoney little heart. This week, I had a virtual sesh with Doug Mau, the man behind the cannabis-themed pop art at High Art Studios. He and his six insanely talented artists take retro styles, like travel posters and mid-century modern Mad Men-styled ads and use them to describe how a particular strain makes someone feel. No cliches in his artwork; just a unique experience for the cannabis enthusiast. This is the kind of artwork you would see hanging in someone’s home, not just a dorm room. On this week’s episode, I’m seshing with the brilliant mind behind the Taking the Trash Out initiative you heard about in one of our last episodes, Sara Astudillo (@seaweed710). She’s making it her mission to not only clean up the communities around us in San Diego but also change the way in which we do it. Her “zero footprint” clean-up concept shines a light on how we dispose of our trash and garbage to reduce the amount of plastic and toxic waste infecting our planet. She’s collaborating with some amazing folks in the cannabis industry, such as Friendly Farms and Chingona Cakes, to help spread Taking the Trash Out to communities around the world. You can RSVP here for their next event located in Spring Valley on April 25, 2021. -- Huge thanks to Chris Cantore and the YEW! Podcast Network! On this week’s episode, I’m having fun on a Sunday talking with Scarlett Dream about her new single, Trixie Ray Gun. Scarlett’s newest single, once again produced by the super-talented Beatsumishi, introduces us to Trixie and her thirst for out-of-this-world adventures. You’ll hear about how the single grew from a throw-away idea into a Dream Pop thrill ride with the help of lyricist Noah Chen. We also took some time to chat about our musical interests, what we grew up listening to, and how modern technology has impacted social dynamics. Yeah, we got deep. Look for Trixie Ray Gun at these music outlets: Spotify YouTube Apple Music Amazon Music Lyrics: She got a Lincoln named Desiree She smiles when she says get in She spends a lotta my monay Turnin wheels into rocket fins Ooooooooh Ooooooooh Ooooooooh (Chorus) Oh, Trixie Ray Gun! What have you done? You astronaut where has the moon gone Trixie Ray Gun! Always too young I saw you run an do something wrooooong Gravity won't keep her down Lotta smoke on her breath Through a hole, I peeped her frown Her ray gun was set to death We spent the night with Tanqueray It's all dark there anyways We were flying round shootin' rays Never knew it got so late Chorus✨ Trixie baby come back girl Give me back the world Howl howl at the moon I really wanna go there soon Trixie, you’re an odd friend A psychotropic alien Sampling our planet's men To never feel alone again Chorus ✨ Lyrics printed with permission. -- Huge thanks to Chris Cantore and the YEW! Cuqui is the host of “The Cuqui Show” on Instagram Live along with her co-host and former CannaBlogger’s Corner guest, Rhiannon “Maybee.” Colin is the founder of Veterans Walk and Talk, a veterans’ support program with a holistic approach to providing veterans with a sense of community and camaraderie. -- Huge thanks to Chris Cantore and the YEW! On this week’s episode, I get to chat with Yani Amaya, the "Hazey Lioness." We found each other at the beginning of our journeys in the cannabis industry and community and have been good friends since. With her camera always in-hand, she’s building a name for herself. Her Lioness Visuals portfolio shows her keen eye for cannabis photography, and her Better Homes with Cannabis line of merch brings cannabis into serious home décor territory. She also finds time to be the Marketing Director for Boycott Shitty Weed, curating all their online content from scratch. As usual when dealing with me, our conversation takes a massive nerdy turn at the end. Enjoy! On this week’s episode, I finally get to have a (virtual) sesh with one of my longtime IG friends, Rhiannon “Maybee.” She was one of the first people I connected with when I dipped my toes into the SoCal cannabis community, and she was just a nose and a chin. Now, she’s come out from behind the curtain to advocate for canna moms everywhere. We discussed how each of us evolved in the cannabis community and just how daunting it is to expose your true self on social media.
