Our guest today is Tres Thomas. Tres is the Senior Vice President of Operations and the Global Director of Touring for Live Nation. Tres has been working in the concert business since his college days managing ticketing for the student body. He was the ticket guy back then, and we are pretty sure some things never change! He takes us through his journey from business management / tour accounting to ending up in the Live Nation family. He married his his high school sweetheart and they are still happily married. He speaks to the crazy touring life and how he managed to be present for his kids while they were growing up as well as both the perks and sacrifice that come along with this unique business. Our guest today is Curry Grant. Curry has been in the entertainment industry since there was one! He is currently the Vice President of Concert Touring for PRG but Curry started his career 3 credits shy of graduating college. He shares his stories and fun facts from the early road days with Fleetwood Mac and other iconic bands. We speak in depth about that particular era of music and how groundbreaking everything was compared to the scene of today. We learn how and why he pivoted his career as a lighting designer into the corporate world of lighting with Vari-Lite. Vari-Lite was at the cutting edge of technology in the industry and PRG eventually acquired Vari-Lite and Curry has been able to keep on doing his thing. We get sentimental about what his next chapter of touring will look like and what it will all mean to both the fans and the people who work the shows. Today’s episode shakes it up as Winky and Candice speak about a breath work session they did together the previous day. They explain the process that the healer performs on the client and discuss what someone might expect during a session and how the conversation prior to the session , may be the road map for the healer to follow. We learn about the specific breathing technique used during the practice and how long it takes to be able to get the desired effect. We talk about the “scream” and how we can really release tension and trauma with our breath. It’s a very powerful treatment that goes well with some other modalities that we discuss and we try to give enough real life experience to open the door to make others comfortable enough to give this practice a try. Nick speaks about his passion for music and how it lead to hands on stuff! Along with his founding partners of Light and Sound Design, they paved the way for what it takes to run a global lighting company. We hear about the early AC/DC tours and all the insane requests made by touring bands. We learn about the crazy business model necessary to become a rental company and how that lead to some of the acquisitions and management buyouts that created big deals in the industry. Nick's passion for the biz is obvious through his vast knowledge and experiences. Nick was able to pivot into the video business and again ride the entrepreneurial wave of mergers and acquisitions.
