Ray is quiet and she is kind.  She has soldiered through some things in her life that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy...and yet she smiles.  She loves.  In 2017, Ray was grieving the loss of her wife, when I talked her into crewing for me at the Prairie Spirit Ultra.  It was then that the fire was ignited. Ray decided she was coming back to run her own ultra when she turned 50...and she meant it.  Tune in to hear her story as told by her and her crew.  You don't want to miss this!Purchase hand made jewelry from Ray Turpin's online store:  https://simplexpressions.com/Like SimpleXpressions on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/simpleXpressions
Morgan and her Grandpa Buddy have had a standing weekly run date for more than seven years; she runs and he rides his bike alongside her. Countless half marathons together enjoying the trails and each others company. Well, Morgan was starting to feel like she was holding Buddy back...so it was time to step it up and run a MARATHON! What is even more unbelievable is that Buddy is battling his third round of mantle cell lymphoma and will sometimes have to stop during their training to take his chemo pills. Listen as Morgan tells the story of her and Buddy hitting the trails! No complaints and no excuses. You will love their story! Email Morgan at farmgirl_fit@yahoo.com
Our very own Kelsi (a/k/a Smol Warrior, a name given to her by her Coach) set a goal of running her first MARATHON...26.2 miles!  As the year 2020 unfolded, she found herself at home under a "stay at home" order by the Governor, graduating from college "virtually," and her workplace closed as a non-essential business...As for the marathon dream, the in-person race was canceled and participants had the option of deferring to 2021, or running it virtually.  A virtual race means no course support, no spectators, no planned route, no finish line party...just you and the miles.  Just you, setting out to accomplish a goal for the pure satisfaction of it.  I understand virtual races can be fun and a great way to support local charities...but training and running your FIRST MARATHON virtually?  Seriously, how bad ass is that?  And that's what this Smol Warrior did!  Listen in to hear Kelsi tell her story. We have a great line up of guests for January and we'll drop a new story each week throughout the month (4 parts/4 stories)!  Prepare to be inspired and motivated as you listen to the stories of 5 local athletes who trained hard to accomplish a goal, during a pandemic.  You won't want to miss this, so subscribe to our podcast today!
A-Train is a name given to Adam by his buddy, Yak, and what a fitting name.  A-Train is a soft spoken, deliberate, considerate guy, with a big heart and a desire to help others...And when he sets a goal, he goes after it with everything he's got!  Hear his story of why he decided to attempt to run his fastest marathon (setting a personal best record), and raise a bunch of money for the kids of St. Jude...during a pandemic!
