Reflecting on Sleep

I'm calling this one part of my Weekend Wandering series. Not really a series, but basically just random rambles, reflections, and lightbulb moments I've had. In this episode, I reflect on sleep, underlying reasons behind my not-so-wise past decisions, and why those decisions weren't really for my benefit. - - -Coaching Groups with ADHD reWired start soon! This is one I've been putting off since the beginning. In this episode, we scratch the surface of the Model Minority Myth, and how it affects the diagnoses and treatment for those of us who are visibly Asian and manage our mental health, as well as the perceptions that others have of us about our mental health.    - - -Coaching Groups with ADHD reWired start soon!  Go to https://coachingrewired.com to get yourself on the summer interest list! This episode talks about some of the unfortunate cultural norms that can hold us back from advocating for ourselves, how unconscious biases from folks who did not grow up in those communities can unintentionally skew the ways they view and interpret the mental health of others. and how that can become damaging to those who already feel they have no right to speak up. - - -Do you want to rewrite your inner narrative get your ADHD reWired??  Visit https://coachingrewired.com to get your name added to the interest list to join the 25th season of ADHD reWired's Coaching and Accountability Groups -- starting in July!!!There are two registration events remaining! Fidgeting for Focus

WELL... it's still technically part of the series, because if you're a squirrely squirmy person like me, it can be perceived - if we're not sitting still with eyes up and focused - that we're not paying attention and look like we don't care about what's happening in front of us.Sure, it could be the case, but not always.  I'm the kind of person who needs to be somewhat physically "busy" for me to think, process information, and listen. If you're the same way, you just might relate to my very ADHD ramble in this episode. - - -  Episodes moving forward will be released on Wednesdays or Thursdays!𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬. ANNOUNCEMENT!LAUNCHING THIS WEEK! -- The ADHD Friendly Lifestyle with Moira Maybin is here! Head over to the link above! Listen, subscribe, and welcome  the newest addition to the ADHD reWired Podcast Family! Congratulations, Moira!- - -In this episode, I address a couple of my own stand-out quirks that have not only gotten me into a bit of trouble, but that have also been misunderstood. For years, I had no idea of the effect I had on so many past friendships that, while all the negative talk reached me eventually, I simply wasn't aware of the things I was doing that were hurtful. Moreover, I didn't understand why I was the way I was, or why I behaved the way I did.  It's still difficult to overcome, and yes - sometimes the ADHD just wins - but while ADHD is an explanation, it's not an excuse for me to repeat those behaviors. I do my best. For those of us with ADHD, we really are trying. And the more we become aware of our tendencies, sometimes - it doesn't always feel great. But, as long as we are improving and putting in the effort to be our best selves, that's what is within our control.  - - -Thanks to ADHD reWired's Coaching and Accountability groups, I've been able to connect with other fellow owners of ADHD brains from all over the globe. I took a bit of a break this week. I swear, it's been two straight weeks of ADHD driving the struggle bus. Coming in April, I'll be launching a series called "We Are Not Flawed." I've always believed that my ADHD - for the years I was undiagnosed - that all of my quirks and oddities and self-proclaimed weirdness were all character flaws. It's a story I've heard time and time again from fellow ADHDers too. It's a reminder for me, and a reminder for you: ADHD doesn't make us flawed. You. Are. Not. Flawed.Hang in there, friends. We've got this.Stay tuned...- - -Thanks to ADHD reWired's Coaching and Accountability groups, I've been able to connect with other fellow ADHDers from all over the globe. My ADHD Won

My ADHD Won

2021-03-1707:52

Guess what? My ADHD won something fierce this week. I don't usually mind taking a quick little in-brain road trip with my ADHD friend, because rabbit holes and detours can be fun! But over the past five or six days before the release of this episode, my ADHD pulled a "mean" and invited its friends, too. This quick episode is about that road trip, and how my ADHD kept me stuck in the traffic circle of my brain. I also want to acknowledge that when we do get stuck, or lose our map, or allow ADHD to become a back-seat driver, that's 100% okay! It's not the first time it's happened to me, and I'm positive it won't be the last.I'm an Alumni member of the ADHD reWired Coaching and Accountability groups! My First Domino

My First Domino

2021-02-2421:55

In this episode, I talk about the domino that started it all: Being seen. As ADHDers, one of the biggest things we desire is to be seen and understood. Without any judgement, we just want to be heard. Sometimes, all it takes is just one person to help us see the wonderfulness in ourselves that they see in us. It's finally here - the first episode!I'm still trying to figure this out, but it's all part of the process, right? On this episode, you'll hear some of the backstory behind why I wanted to start this podcast. Being visibly Asian comes with many expectations and cultural norms which don't always "allow" for speaking our weaknesses or struggles. I'll also talk about what it's meant for me to navigate with undiagnosed ADHD while being grouped into a stereotype, and how it lead to shame, guilt, and wondering where I fit in. Great Job and thank you for taking the time to express your feelings. The tone and voice of your first podcast found me in a down moment and it help me release my own junk. It helped me better understand my own self and loved ones. Thank you for sharing to heal.
