Starrcade 1985

2022-11-0402:08:28

If we are going out, we are going to go out strong.  On this last episode of Ringside Rant Justin, Dave, and RJ rant about Starrcade 1985.  This NWA pay per view had some of the best matches of all time including Dusty Rhodes taking on Ric Flair for the NWA title and Magnum TA taking on Tully Blanchard inside a steel cage in a "I Quit" match.   Thank you all for supporting the show for over three years.   --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message
No Mercy 2002

No Mercy 2002

2022-10-2801:40:01

At this point in 2002 the WWE was in a talent transition as we started to see some of the older talent leave and the younger talent start they journey in the company.  The main event was the perfect example of that as Brock Lesnar put his undisputed championship on the line against the Undertaker inside Hell in the Cell.  RJ and Dave have plenty to rant about this event but as they got to the main event they put it over as much as they could; because the match is one the you have to see.   castle.com/ringsiderant  @SuperRefPWD --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message
No Mercy 2001

No Mercy 2001

At this time in 2001 the Invasion angle between WWE and WCW/ECW was starting to run its course.  No Mercy demonstrated that to be the fact as well; many things not making sense (ie Hardys defending their WCW Tag Titles.) The final to matches of this event were for the WCW and WWE titles respectively as Rock defended his WCW title against Chris Jericho and Steve Austin defended his WWE title against Kurt Angle and RVD.  As an event this show was decent on the whole but if you read into it most of it just didn't make sense.  Find out what Justin and RJ have to rant about this week  Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant  Dave Miller Social Media  Twitter/IG @refsuperdavepwd Justin Social Media  @jd2040 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

Dave, RJ, and Justin continue their month of ranting about No Mercy pay per views for WWE.  We are fully involved in the Monday Night Wars here in 1999 as No Mercy comes to you from the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Before 18,742 fans this WWE pay per view was a great event from top to bottom. However there was plenty to rant about; find out what RJ, Dave, and Justin have to say about this pay per view as they also add more feuds to their rankings. No Mercy 2007

After a month of WCCW we are now onto WWE.  Fifthteen years ago today WWE brought you No Mercy from the Allstate Arena before 12,500 fans in Rosemont, Illinois.  AT this time in the company Triple H was in a great storyline with Mr. McMahon who forced him to wrestle three times on this card. He won the WWE title from the appointed Randy Orton (in place of a injured John Cena) in the opening match then defended against Umaga then Orton again in the main event in a Last Man Standing Match.  In addition to that the rest of the event is a surprisingly good pay per view outside some no needed in ring and backstage segments.  Find out what Dave, RJ, and Justin had to say about that and so much more!!! We also add three more rivalries to our rankings as well.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant  Dave Miller Social Media  Twitter/IG @refsuperdavepwd  Justin Davis Social Media  @jd2040   --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

This week is the culmination of our month of WCCW. This week is the shot heard around the world when the freebirds turned on the Von Erichs and thus elevated them for years to come.  The cage match between Ric Fair and Kerry Von Erich for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship delivered on every level possible and more. We are thrilled to welcome Top Gal Amy back to the show to watch this match with us as well as adding some much needed opinions to our Rivalry rankings as well.  Ringside Rant Website castpie.com/ringsiderant Dave Miller Social Media Twitter/IG @refsuperdavepwd Justin Davis Social Media @jd2040  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

We are almost to the shot heard around the world in the match between Kerry Von Erich and Ric Flair but first Dave and RJ break down the episode before on December 27, 1982.  The show was main evented with a battle royal in which there would be $10,000 on a pole.  This unique match was preempted by the finals for the NWA World Six Man titles between Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, and David Von Erich taking on the Sharpe Brothers and Tom Steele.  Lastly, Dave and RJ add two more rivalries to their rankings as Justin is off on assignment this week.    Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant   Dave Miller Social Media   Twitter/IG @refsuperdavepwd  Justin Davis Social Media   @jd2040 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

Its December and you know what that means? Christmas Star Wars is just around the corner for WCCW and this week we rant about the December 11, 1982 edition of WCCW.  Dave remembers what the atmosphere was like in Dallas this night as we march towards a tradition like no other WCCW on Christmas Night.  Justin, RJ, and Dave break down this card for WCCW in a way that is unique to wrestling podcasting.  Unlike the Cincinnati Bengals we always deliver as this week we add three of the best rivalries of all time to our rankings.  Listen now to find out what we added and what is to come on future episode of Ringside Rant.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant  Justin Social Media  @jd2040 Dave Social Media  @RefSuperDavePWD Artwork by @JDHoop702 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

This week we hop in our way back machine to August 28, 1982 as we talk about WCCW. This week there were a few matches leading up to our main event; however Dave, Justin, and RJ are ranting about the two out of three falls match for the heavyweight championship between the champion Ric Flair and Kerry Von Erich. We take you to school this week on Ringside Rant as we take you back to August of 1982 with World Class Championship Wrestling.  This was the first event where Dave fell in love with professional wrestling and WCCW. Dave goes into depth on what, why and how he got into this Texas based promotion as well as being a fan of the Von Erichs.  Justin and RJ also break down what they think of this event as they see it for the first time.  Lastly, they add three more rivalries to their rankings; find out what they add and so much more on this episode.   Ringside Rant Website castpie.com/ringsiderant Justin Twitter @jd2040 Dave Social Media @RefSuperDavePWD --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

August 19, 1996 RAW

2022-08-2601:20:42

The RAW the night after Summer Slam 1996 was one of the best RAWs that we have watched in quite some time.  The show started hot with Owen Hart taking on the British Bulldog in the Intercontinental Championship tournament.  At this time in the company this is the shot in the arm that WWE needed.  Lastly, the booking committee is continuing to put over the big men like Vader and Yokozuna by booking them in a squash match and against the heavyweight champion respectively.  Dave, Justin, and RJ add three more rivalries to the rankings that will make all of you talk.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant  Justin Twitter  @jd2040    Dave Social Media  @RefSuperDavePWD --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

Ringside Rant is now a three man booth with the addition of the man who counted the 1,2,3 for Ric Flairs last match, Super Dave Miller.  Dave brings a great view on the business as he, RJ, and Justin rant about Summer Slam 1996.  Some may think this was a forgetful pay per view but they remember some of the high points of the event; but they also isolate the low points of it as well.  In addition to ranting about Summer Slam we add three more rivalries to our list with some special easter eggs added to them.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant  Social Media  Twitter @jd2040 @RefSuperDavePWD --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

August 12, 1996 RAW

2022-08-1201:00:48

We are at the go home show for Summer Slam 1996.  This episode of RAW was not the best but RJ and Justin made the best of it.  The show was main evented by Shawn Michaels vs Owen Hart in a non title match; so you know it'll be good.  With Vader and Shawn scheduled for Summer Slam the coming Sunday the usual shenanigans were in full force as well; as Vader made his presence felt.  Lastly, the company is very high on Faarooq at this time as they were planning on having him feud against Ahmed Johnson, but after Johnson got hurt and needed emergency surgery those plans were put on hold.   Ringside Rant Website castpie.com/ringsiderant    --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

August 5, 1996 RAW

Justin and RJ are starting their march to Summer Slam this week as they Rant about the August 5, 1996 edition of RAW.  Main evented by a 11 man battle royal makes this RAW just like any other show in 1996; very interesting.  This RAW shows us why WCW beat the WWF in the ratings for as long as they did.  A lot of these matches just didn't make sense, while they tried to show a little attitude to their audience.  Justin and RJ also bring to you their first edition of their Best Wresting Rivalry's of all time.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant   --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

We are at the end of the month, you know what that means?  RJ and Justin welcome in the third man in the booth, Pondwater Dave.  We all rant about this VERY interesting pay per view.  Bash at the Beach 2000 is the culmination event for WCW as they are a year away from going out of business. As we watch this event we know why they are on their way out.  Dave, Justin, and RJ rant thoroughly about this ever but also talk highly about a few high points of this show. This and the final additions to our Wrestling with Music rankings on this episode.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant  Social Media  Justin @JD2040 Dave @pondwaterdave --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

Bash at the Beach 1999

2022-07-2201:06:05

The writing seems to be on the wall for WCW this week as Justin and RJ rant about Bash at the Beach 1999.  On paper the card would appear to be legitimately a good event but as someone once said "the bell had to ring." The highlight of this pay per view would be the match for the WCW Tag Team Championships, pitting "The New Jersey Triad" against Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit.  The rest of the event was very forgettible as RJ and Justin go off on the booking of the rest of the event.  All this and we also add four more themes to our Wresting with Music rankings with a surprise fifth. Bash at the Beach 1998

Compared to last weeks episode on the 1997 Bash at the Beach this show is a step back in some regards to the matches and on the large roster at this time in WCW.  Justin and RJ rant about a few of the highlights of this show but also have some not so good things to say about a few of the matches and segments on this pay per view.  We also add four more themes to our list getting it up to 91 themes.   Ringside Rant Website  castpie.com/ringsiderant --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rantersnationnetwork/message

It may be hot outside where you are but this PPV was anything but hot.  Justin and RJ rant a lot about this WCW event from the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.  The main event match between Lex Luger and the Giant taking on Hollywood Hogan and Dennis Rodman was something that was putting fans in the stands or so they were hoping.  The highlights of the show were the first few matches on the card; find out what Justin and RJ had to say about them and so much more!!!! We are in the dog days of summer and what a better way to overcome them then by listening to this weeks episode on Bash at the Beach 1996.  This pay per view is remembered as the event where the third man was revealed during the main event. However, the rest of the show leading up to it was great as well. Its the last Friday of the month, you know what that means? It's time to welcome Pond Water Dave to Rant about this months pay per view.  This month Dave and RJ are Ranting about King of the Ring 2002 while Justin is on assignment.  This pay per review is the coming out party for Brock Lesnar as he continues to dominate the company at this pay view and going forward.  In a dream match up we saw a pair of american heroes face off as Kurt Angle takes on Hulk Hogan.  From top to bottom this is an excellent event; listen to hear what Dave and RJ have to say about it as well.   Get a FREE one year supply of immune supporting Vitamin D AND 5 free travel packs with your purchase.
