Fiction meets reality on this one! We kick off the first show of 2021 with a memorial mix for the late super villain, MF DOOM. He’s toured festivals with international acts like Los Rakas, Ana Tijoux, Niña Dioz and is resident turntablist at LA’s top ranking global bass party, Subsuelo. He joins us for the very first time with a live set expressing all points of his musical identity.Equip, known to most in the industry as DJ Equip, drops the prefix and plays his first full set of original beats live. He talks to us about his past works with Insomniac and Noise Academy as well as what he’s been working on with Eksobition, where we recorded this show live. Co.Fee is a celebrated producer amongst top ranking producers in the LA beat scene. Captain Supernova is a composer/arranger inspired by Sci-fi Soundtracks, Jazz-Fusion, Prog Rock, and Soul music. He shares a collection of songs that inspired his latest album, THE VOYAGE NEVER ENDS,, has been producing music for decades and was one of the corner stones in the very birth of Beats of All-Nations, though his art is featured on the cover art for most of our radio shows and parties, this is his first appearance on Beats of All-Nations Radio. Marlon Fuentes is the World Music Manager at the Recording Academy (Grammy’s) and shares an arsenal of African and other world sounds breaking ground. Eric Coleman is a renown director, photographer and DJ, known for his groundbreaking work with B+ at Mochilla, and works that include photography for the Madvillain album cover and some of the last photos of the late J Dilla. Every year we highlight international sounds at carnaval time which lines up with Dilla’s anniversary and Black history month usually with an event or radio show. Considering Jay Dee was the first to sample Brazilian music in hip hop with Pharcyde’s "Runnin’," it all makes sense. Sev Seveer, feature artist on Beats of All-Nations, packed up and left Chicago to join us for a week in LA earlier this summer. We showcased the new record SHELFIE BAPS II, video recorded his beat making process from digging the out the sample (video coming soon). Along the way he played feature sets along High Risk Collective and more Chicago Fam at Beat Cinema, traveled far east to join Cam Gnarly at Serious Cartoons, we did a special shoot at The Breath in Pomona, and we ended with radio feature on Soundwaves, KPFK 90.7. Coachella 2019 was loaded with friends and family and we were able to represent in a real way. We begin with a reunion from More Fire Mondays, who opened the Coachella Stage on Saturday Weekend 2. Represented by Juice Won, DJ Gabe Real and Steve of Distant Drum, More Fire Mondays was a legendary Monday night get down that reigned supreme in the IE for nearly 15 years with two areas of music including an unmatched reggae rooftop. We go back to Saturday Weekend 1 with an eclectic as always set by DJ Gabe Real, who played his 10th straight set at the festival from the Coachella Stage. Mike Styles takes us out with one of two sets played Weekend 1 at The Turndown tent. Mr. Sonny James is well versed in music and hip hop culture as a writer, DJ, producer, videographer, and actor. Most known for his role as co-founder of Philly's most prolific and well-respected DJ/Production crew, Illvibe Collective he has maintained a solid following in the Philadelphia, Tri State Area. He has toured the world DJing for the likes of legendary MC Bahamadia, Camp Lo, Hezekiah, Shape of Broad Minds, and Mr. Lif. As of late Sonny James is handling the West Coast's Artists Relations for Serato, keeping LA's elite DJs plugged in and updated, he also hosts talent at the LA office, documenting short routines on film for the brand, while showing off new hardware, software functions and the many ways creatives are using Serato. He drops through with an incredible set, encompassing all elements of #realdjing.We're joined once again by the entire Re:Fresh crew in music and conversation.
