Description

A production of the University of Tennessee Center for Sport, Peace & Society in partnership with the U.S. Department of State Sports Diplomacy Division. The Strong Women. Better World. Podcast is a globe-trotting storytelling project about fearless women who are using the power of sport, education, and social innovation to create a better world. This sisterhood stands on the shoulders of pioneers who fought for the passage of Title IX, an educational amendment that gave rise to the female athlete in the United States and has significant worldwide ripple effects. The Strong Women. Better World Podcast celebrates the 50th anniversary of Title IX by raising awareness of its global footprint ahead of the landmark legislation’s June 2022 commemoration. Through intimate conversations with brave pioneers, listeners will learn about the challenges and successes these Title IX Titans encounter, and better understand the power of people-to-people exchanges through sport. The Strong Women. Better World Podcast is a UT-Knoxville Center for Sport, Peace and Society (CSPS) production, part of its larger effort to celebrate Title IX. The Center’s special storytelling project highlights how generations of women and girls have benefited from its provision for equal access and opportunity to play sports. *This project is funded in part by the U.S. Department of State Sports Diplomacy Division and we’re grateful for their partnership.
