One of the things that lead to depression and anxiety is trying to control what is out of your control. Very often we don't realise what is within our circle of control, just knowing this can help to reduce our suffering and especially our anxiety. In this episode, I go through some of the things that are in our control, and more importantly the things that are not in our control. In this episode the host Steven Webb talks about what you can do when the world is burning, and everything seemed to be going wrong yet you feel you are unable to help in any way. The war is just broken out in Ukraine, and sitting almost the other side of the world and wanting to do something to help can often leave us with a feeling of negativity and worthless. Especially when we see others doing what they can in the media and nearer the situation.
I am a people pleaser, and I'm fed up with people telling me it is a bad thing. I'm Steven Webb, your host and I am learning to embrace my ability as a people pleaser. So, I asked the question is it possible to be a good or healthy people pleaser when so many people often perceive it to be a bad thing. I mentioned an episode about dropping the word is good and bad, and replacing them with healthy and unhealthy, here is the link: https://player.captivate.fm/episode/fb479e7a-5a35-43a5-a9a2-489f0b478b36 (2 words you should drop and stop using)
For most of my life, I have preached to people to think positive, it wasn't until I hit my rock bottom that I realised this is impossible. So, if thinking positive doesn't work what should be done instead? https://player.captivate.fm/episode/fb479e7a-5a35-43a5-a9a2-489f0b478b36 (Healthy Unhealthy vs Good and Bad Episode)

I am severely paralysed, how can I be happy? Well, just a couple of simple shifts in mindset and there you are. Okay, it’s not that simple. There are a couple of words that we use all the time that will change the way we see life forever if we stop using them. Plus, there are alternative words that give better meaning. It is a really interesting question, one I have grappled with for some time. If we are truly grateful and content with everything we have and our lives as they are, then is it painful and wrong to want more?

The spiritual journey feels more like a search than it does a journey. It’s only a journey when we look back on it. At any point in time when we look forward, we are looking for something. And this podcast is to help you reduce your suffering by changing your mindset I’m thinking differently.

There is no mistaking that we are under more pressure today than ever before in human history. Things may not be as life-threatening, but they are certainly overwhelming and they are causing a great amount of anxiety and stress. In this episode, I share this week's positive news, and then I talk about how we release that pressure cooker of life. And how we become aware of the signs in our own lives. I asked my Twitter followers: What would you teach the world? And the results were amazing, so brilliant I had to do a podcast going through them. I want to thank everybody that replied, sorry I did not get to everybody's answer but there will be more opportunities in the future. positive.news
We are living through the richest period of human history, and we are having to teach people to be grateful for what they have. Perhaps there is a better way, perhaps we should just stock-take every 12 months of everything we have.
Everybody wants to be happy, I don't think anybody apart from the odd joke would ever say they don't want to be happy. But is it really a choice, it is something that we can choose to be or is it something to do with our genes or maybe by choosing we are making ourselves even more unhappy?
Do you find it difficult to love yourself? Forgive yourself? You are not alone. One of the hardest things I've found my whole life is the ability to love myself. Why is it so difficult to love ourselves?I answer that question on today's podcast, and I think it's something that when we really become aware of this realisation, we might start to actually cultivate that compassion that we do need to be able to love ourselves.
