I am so excited to finally be talking about the 3rd Pillar of Homemaking, Rhythms and Routines, with my friend and past AoH guest, Leslie Lucadou. We will start with a brief review of the 4 Pillars of Homemaking, then spend some time defining rhythms and routines-talking about the difference between the two and giving some examples of each. Then we look at motivations (or the why) for establishing rhythms and routines, contrasting the world’s ideas vs what God has to say about our why. Next we talk about 4 rhythms of christian living; worship, rest, work and play—what those might look like and how we can use homemaking to help and not hinder these rhythms. Finally we end with a few pitfalls to avoid when establishing rhythms and routines.EPISODE NOTESShow Notes | theartofhomepodcast.com/blogAllison's Update Recipes | Subscribe to Homemaker Happy Mail, or for future reference check Newsletter Archive and search this episode titleRelated Resources: Redeeming Your Time by Jordan RaynerHabits of the Household; Practicing the Story of God in Everyday Family Rhythms by Justin EarleyMargin: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives by Richard SwensonEvery Moment Holy; New Liturgies for Daily Life (book 1 of 3) by Douglas McKelveyRELATED EPISODESPillars of Homemaking Deep Dive | IdentityPillars of Homemaking Deep Dive | Values & PrioritiesHomemaker Portrait | Leslie LucadouHomemaking Deep Dive| Wellness with Leslie LucadouBE OUR GUEST (OR NOMINATE A FRIEND) closes April 5, 2024Apply YourselfNominate a Friend NEW!! In this episode I am chatting with Kerita Fuller about her experience keeping a home for the past 10 years with her husband and step children. Kerita worked for the US Air Force for 20 years before retiring and fully embracing her role as full time homemaker and helpmeet to her husband. We talk about her sudden and steep learning curve of become a mom, not to babies, but to teens. She had a very short runway to prepare them to leave the nest as capable young adults and that was a big responsibility. Kerita shares openly how infertility can tempt her to compare to women who have what she doesn’t but that God has taught her that what motherhood looks like is not what she thinks it should look like, but what He says it looks like. I love her perspective on hospitality and how homemaking builds community and she has some fun stories, tips and ideas to share.EPISODE RESOURCESAt Home with Sally Podcast, Metaphors That Will Inspire For Life (with Joy Clarkson), Feb. 12, 2024Simple Farmhouse Life Podcast, Are You Overwhelmed and Angry in Motherhood? | Natalie Hixson, Angry Mama Coach, Ep. 224, Feb.13, 2024Follow Kerita's Knitting Adventures in IG | @mrskeritafullerShow Notes | theartofhomepodcast.com/blogHOMEMAKING RESOURCESFree Weekly Newsletter, Homemaker Happy MailNewsletter ArchiveAudio Newsletter available to Titus 2 Woman monthly supportersSUPPORT & CONNECT Review | Love The Podcast Contact  | Voicemail |Instagram | Facebook  |  Website | Email  Follow | Follow The PodcastSupport | theartofhomepodcast.com/supportSupport the show

In today’s episode I am chatting with in-the-trenches homemaker, Carly Poulin. Carly blew me away on her application when she shared that God used the art of home podcast to draw her to himself and now she is walking with the Lord. I never intended for this to be an evangelistic podcast but it is because we talk about what it looks like to follow Jesus in the midst of laundy and dishes and diapers, and raising toddlers and teenagers, and showing hospitality. The idea that the Creator of the universe meets us in the mundane and gives us all that we need to walk out our faith and glorify Him through the every day work of homemaking is revolutionary in our culture. The stories we tell here about how Jesus transforms our homemaking were literally life-changing for Carly…her words, not mine. So keep that in mind as you listen. Carly is a new believer. She is learning and growing and fighting the good fight….shortly before we did this interview she unexpectedly lost her father and that threatened to shake her brand new faith. But God has been with her and I hope you will join me in praying for Carly’s faith to be strengthened, that she will be a light to her family as she serves them, and that God would bring some Titus 2 women into her life. In today’s episode I am talking with In-the-Trenches homemaker, Naomi Fata. She’s been married 16 years and has 3 kids, ages 8 to 13. She homeschools and runs a sewing and alterations business out of her home--she is a very busy lady. We discuss how she has learned/is learning to balance homemaking, schooling and a home business through compromise, firm boundaries and letting go of some expectations. Naomi is passionate about teaching others how sewing can help them make the most of their clothing and home decor resources.Over the years, Naomi realized that this "stay-at-home dream life" she asked God for does not come with ease. It is challenging to manage it all, but she is learning to differentiate between what God has and has not called her to do in each new day. Whether running a home business or not, this principle applies to all of us as homemakers as we seek to thrive in our calling and not be distracted or overwhelmed by all the possibilities before us. I know you will be encouraged and learn something from Naomi's story of home.CONNECT WITH NAOMIInstagram | @naomifataWebsite | www.naomifata.netBook | Beyond Head Knowledge; Knowing Christ Who Satisfies Our HeartsYoutube | Naomi Fata SewsFROM THIS EPISODEAll links and resources will be available in this week's free newsletter.
