Description

“The Capital Golf Gang” reflects who we are and where we are from. Steve Czaban, John Ronis, Ron Thomas and Jon Guhl — four golf fanatics, from four distinctly different “sectors” of the “industry” and we’ve lived here in the Washington D.C. area for most of our adult lives. Our goal for this golf podcast is to be ruthlessly entertaining, informative, and beholden to nobody. At times, our bare-knuckle truth will sound like four guys shooting the sh#t after a round in the clubhouse, over a beer. Which is precisely the goal. As such, don’t expect a bunch of bubble gum card names on this podcast. By being brutally honest, you accept the fact that you may not make friends with everybody in the game. But we’ll always be fair, and there’s enough divergent opinions to keep everybody in check.

Czabe welcomes Alex Dickson from Beltway Golfer magazine as the Gang discusses the current plight of DC's course which is another Trump administration battleground. Czabe steps in a hornet's nest by using an unfortunate word to desribe the humble and scrappy layout. However, the boys work it out and have an honest discussion with much common ground. The LIV document drops keep getting more insane, and unintentionally hilarious, like the secured domain names they were hoarding. John Ronis is hopelessly unhip to the Barstool Classic. Czabe and the Gang finally get to tee it up at one of the DMV's best layouts and overall facilities. They discuss the course's history, and have fond memories of the ol' Kemper Open, despite lackluster fields, and often times "who is that guy" winners. John Ronis appreciates his career in golf, as Czabe recounts what it was like working at Avenel during college. The fellas also talk Walker Cup and more, all from the lovely grill room overlooking the 18th.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
Czabe welcomes the Gang for a virtual episode, where they discuss who made the Presidents Cup team for later this month at Medina, and why? Most of the guys are "fine" with young Mr. Koivun, but Czabe sure is not. He explains why not. How come the "Internationals" can't compete in this event? Does everything need "juice" or can we accept there are cycles? Tiger Woods pleads guilty, loses liscense. Coulda been worse, but it's not nothing. Czabe welcomes the gang, John Ronis, Jon Guhl, and Buddy Christensen to discuss the PGA Tour and Brian Rolapp's presser at East Lake where we now now the basic shape of the new 2028 playoff system. Overall, not bad. But still a few lingering details. LIV takes one last death gasp at Indy. What path back to the Tour will Rolapp provide, if any? The Good Good commercial that went from bad, to worse. A tale of a marketing shank for the ages. MORE.....Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
