We wanted to close off the season by taking a brief look back at some of our highlights from the past 50 episodes and give you an insight into the direction we'll be taking the podcast in the not too distant future. We've loved recording the past 50 episodes and are now going to focus over the next couple of months on some amazing interviews. We'll still be connecting with business owners but will be focussing on the mission more than the person and want to make sure there's some fantastic actionable content for you too.See you in a couple of months and as always Stay On Purpose!
This week Chris and I are talking to Dino from the Glasgow Grooming Company about how he got into Barbering and found a niche in targeting young professionals in the South Side of Glasgow. It was such a relaxed conversation and Dino talks with such humility about nudging himself into business and taking action to understand what his passion was before committing to his path. It doesn't need to be a masterplan, but carving out a unique local product can be incredibly fulfilling.Check out his Insta page here  and if you're liking the pod give us a share on social media or give us a review!
This week Chris and I are joined by James Jopling from the British Heart Foundation and amongst other things he's tasked with reducing premature cardiovascular disease (CVD) deaths in Scotland, which account for 22% of all premature deaths.James has spent the vast majority of his career in the 3rd sector and his career has followed the areas he has had a real passion for. His impressive career has included roles with Samaritans and Shelter, and it was great to dig into his motivations for moving into the 3rd sector and his various roles within it. British Heart FoundationCVD deaths still account for over 22% of all premature deaths in Scotland yet most of the great work to reduce this is funded outside of the NHS. The downstream cost impact of CVD in healthcare is estimated to be £800 million, whilst the economic impact is more than double that. That means donations from you and me are really the only thing helping to reduce the impact of CVD in Scotland and across the UK. This week we have Mark Connolly on, owner of Marketing Agency Marketing Mavens and one of Chris' best mates. We spoke about Mark's experience of neurodiversity with his daughter and how we need to be much more open and understanding about our role in making neurodiversity less  stigmatised in business and life in general. It was great to talk about a subject that is still not understood very widely or very well, and perhaps it might resonate with you or someone you know.As always, if you like the episode give us a share and drop us a review on your chosen player.Check out Mark on Linked In and Instagram

This weeks guest is Louise Lenihan from Kidslingo and Speech Bubble Languages and she helps both adults and children learn French and Spanish in creative and fun environments that are ideal for growth. When I was at school the consensus was we'd not need any other language but language is so much more than just speaking in another language! It's about understanding different perspectives, cultures, and ways of doing things. It's about creating enhanced growth and development in children's brains at a time when they're sponges for growth. An it's about creating a social environment that also enriches lives beyond that of the new skill itself.Louise has such a great back story and it was a fascinating chat into how she ended up in teaching and what inspires her through her work. As always, drop us a review and let us know how you're finding the podcast and what guests or areas you'd like us to cover in the future.
This weeks guest is an award winning Chef and sustainability expert Calum Richardson from The Bay Fish and Chips. Sustainability might not be a term you'd expect to be associated with 'A Chippy' but believe me when I tell you Calum has created much more than that in his ~20 years as a chef.Calum worked at The Navy before embarking on this career and has brought the discipline and attention to detail into his various ventures in hospitality since. He now even supplies the ships he used to sail on in the Navy such is the quality that his business produces. He's also driven the sustainability agenda in his industry through changes in traceability, elimination of waste, and sustainable fishing. With COP26 on Scotland's doorstep, sustainability has never been more important and this episode is a cracker where we touch on the Netflix documentary Seaspiracy and how we can do more to create less waste as businesses and people.
