Description

Breaking the sports glass ceiling with two female hosts, bringing the hottest takes to our favorite winter sport!

The Slapshot Sweethearts Podcast, launched weekly, is for any and all hockey fans looking for great discussion. Although we are fans of the Bruins, Capitals, and Penguins respectively, we cover the entire league; good, bad, and ugly. Hosts Megan and Shannon met at sorority recruitment in their undergrad, and have been close friends ever since (talk about good, bad, and ugly right?) Now out of school (well undergrad at least) and living on different coasts, the two record this podcast as a way to share both their sports passion, as well as their incomparable friendship with the world. Come join us for a glass of wine, some jersey debate, and great company as we dive into all things NHL.

We are BACK with Part 5 of our NWHL Season Review - chatting about the Toronto Six! We are joined by rookie forward Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout, who is one of the MANY rookies on the Six; as it was their inaugural season in the league! In many flagship professional leagues, the path to the roster is relatively straightforward; play college football, get drafted. For the NHL, the paths to the league are far and wide, with a TON of professional hockey leagues a player could land in. How do players choose where to go? What does it look like from the eyes of a prospect to choose between college and junior hockey, US or Canada, and other key decisions? Once a player DOES make it pro, what does their development and day-to-day look like? The sweethearts sit down with Kevin St. Jacques, current coach of the Carolina Junior Hurricanes and Scout for the Federal Prospects Hockey League. Kevin was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1991 before playing out an extensive professional career, landing him in the top-30 players of all time for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Kevin provides insight into what prospects do to forward their own careers, what kind of decisions are out of their hands, and when its time to choose different types of development over others.Support Slapshot Sweethearts by donating to their Tip Jar: https://tips.pinecast.com/jar/slapshot-sweetheartsFind out more at https://slapshot-sweethearts.pinecast.coSend us your feedback online: https://pinecast.com/feedback/slapshot-sweethearts/35d2e02c-f93e-42fb-bd0b-dd587571f56c Learn more about your ad choices.
