As we travel through perimenopause and beyond menopause, we may find that our sexual well-being is challenged.  Physical changes that we experience, combined with changes that our partners may be going through, create a bit of a minefield. I went looking for a woman with expertise in this important area of health and well-being, and I found Emily Power Smith. Emily has a Masters Degree in Sexology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Art Psychotherapy, with years of experience as a facilitator, educator and trainer. She is a professional member of the World Association of Sexual Health (WAS), accredited member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.  As a woman of a certain age herself, Emily brings lived experience, wisdom and compassion to her practice of sex therapy.  You may feel your sex drive is a lost treasure buried in the sands of time, but it might be easier for find that you think. Thank you for listening! If you are a woman of a certain age like me, you may have spent a lot of time in high heels.  Now, you might look down at your feet and think to yourself, “How did we come to this?”  Bunions, hammer toes, callouses, tight Achilles tendons, and pains everywhere. You’re not alone. Thirty-five per cent (35%) of women over the age of sixty-five have bunions, which is twice the rate of men. But do we just have to accept that our feet are falling apart? I spoke with Andrew Wynd, a physiotherapist, and a former member of the Australia International Cross Country Ski Team. Andrew is a guru of foot and ankle health, and he has a system to help women of a certain age maintain foot health. In many cases, with a bit of TLC, we can reverse the effects of years of abuse in the name of fashion. Thank you for listening! Perimenopause is a tough time and many women find the physical and mental changes that occur quite overwhelming. And it’s not just hot flushes. Lack of sleep, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, mood swings and brain fog can all be part of the new status quo. But if you are a working woman, you still must 'rock up' to work and look and act like nothing is happening. The workplace typically doesn’t care what’s happening to you…or do they? Mentally Well Workplaces is an organisation with the goal of helping employers learn how to support the mental health of their workers. Cofounder and Director, Tina Winchester, and team have a mission to help organisations support their female employees and their mental health as they go through this challenging time. Thank you for listening! If you’re like me you might look down at your feet on occasion and think to yourself, how did we come to this?  My feet are not pretty. Years of wearing high heels and running about 1700 kilometres a year have taken their toll. I have bunions, hammer toes, callouses and a sensitive spot on the ball of one foot. And I know I’m not alone. In the US, 35% of women over the age of 65 have bunions, about twice the rate of men. But do we just have to accept that our feet are falling apart? No we do not. In this episode I talk with Andrew Wynd, a sports physiotherapy and guru in the topic of foot and ankle health. Andrew has a system to help women of a certain age maintain foot health, and in some cases, reverse the abuse we have put our feet through in the name of fashion, vanity and fitness. Thank you for listening!
