As we conclude Season 1 of the SheRecovery Podcast with Episode 15, Crystal chats with Kimberly Johnson. In this interview, Kimberly shares her story of recovery from abuse, sexual addiction, and unwanted same sex attraction. Sexual addiction is defined as an intimacy disorder—rooted in unhealthy or absent relational connection in early life. Kim shares the role finding relational connection and healthy intimacy played in her healing journey and gives advice on how to take relational risks in your life to overcome addiction.Season 2 of the SheRecovery Podcast will return on September 10, 2021.  Kim holds a Master of Christian Counseling from Christian Leadership University. In addition to counseling she has traveled nation wide sharing her testimony with thousands. She teaches on all areas of sexual brokenness for large or small group events, and is a published author. In Episode 13 of the SheRecovery Podcast, Crystal chats with Carol Larson. In this interview, Carol shares her story which began at a very young age striving to live up to the Good Christian Girl standard. She explains how striving for the elusiveness of perfection, especially as it pertained to sexual purity, caused her sexuality to shutdown all together. Then, when life didn't go as planned (prolonged singleness), she became entrapped by pornography in her 30s and 40s. Now 60 and a licensed professional counselor, Carol offers the hope of Jesus for your own recovery by sharing about her own.  Carol is a counselor, author, speaker, teacher, and Bible study leader. Carol has a passion for helping women know they are not alone in their addictions. In Episode 10 of the SheRecovery Podcast, Crystal chats with Jenny Miller.Jenny is a pastoral counselor from the Baltimore area. She holds a Masters in Pastoral Counseling with an emphasis in Crisis & Trauma Counseling from Liberty University. In this interview, Jenny shares her own experience of navigating complex trauma. She gives advice for anyone who battles trauma, how to re-frame negative core beliefs, and what is required to heal. Jenny is an overcomer. From porn addiction, to surviving breast cancer, to a complex post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis as the result of childhood trauma. After completing her graduate-level internship at Safe Harbor Christian Counseling, she is currently employed full-time as their Program Director. Jenny also served as volunteer Program Director for SHERecovery from 2010-2019. In 2011, her personal story of freedom was featured in Crystal's book Dirty Girls Come Clean and in 2015, she was also a contributor in Crystal's 90 Days to Wholeness devotional. In Episode 9 of the SheRecovery Podcast, Crystal chats with Amanda Aanestad.In this interview, Amanda shares her own story of overcoming a 10+ year addiction to porn and simply confessing to a friend—has now turned into a movement to make recovery resources accessible to girls and women who struggle. Amanda and a few dear friends began The Victory Collective in order to provide a safe space where Christian girls and women can heal, grow, and find freedom in the grace of Jesus Christ. They collect, review, and share practical resources for Christian girls and women seeking to overcome sexual sin. Amanda battled a pornography addiction for over ten years, and she hopes that her story can shed light on this sin that many people keep hidden in the dark. She wants other girls to know that they are not alone. Amanda also graduated from Virginia Tech in 2018 with degrees in Literature and Creative Writing. After graduation, she taught Literature in Uganda for a year and a half. She now lives in the tiny town of Del Rio, TX with her husband and is currently working to get her Master's degree in nonprofit management. Marnie Ferree, M.A., is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Nashville, TN, where she directs Bethesda Workshops, a short-term Christian-based intensive program for sex addicts and partners. In this interview, Marnie shares her own recovery journey which began 29 years ago! As a pioneer and the "godmother" of female addiction recovery, Marnie shares with the kind of wisdom and grace that you can only gain by years of personal and professional experience.  In 1997, Marnie established the first gender-specific treatment for female sex addicts, and in 2018, she pioneered the first intensive workshop for female adolescent sex addicts. Her book, No Stones: Women Redeemed from Sexual Addiction, uniquely addresses this problem in women.
