One in five older persons in the study sample (n = 191; 21.3%) reported elder abuse, an increase of 83.6% from prevalence estimates before the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic this was one in ten. That’s an increase of almost 84% thats Huge ! And according to The National Council on Aging Up to 5 Million elders are abused every year costing an estimated 36.5 Billion dollars that is scammed every year. And the worst of all statistic is only 1 in 24 is reported. The Care Plan is a tool done at the time of admission and quarterly when someone is in Long term care. It is also done is Assisted Living and is done yearly and called the Service Plan. It is also done in short term rehab much more frequently to set goals and update all involved in how the Client is doing regarding meeting those goals to return to their primary residence. I am educating on the care plan process and who is involved and how best to prepare yourself for the ultimate Care Plan for you or your loved one.
Palliative Care and Hospice are 2 benefits that some people know little about or may have some preconceived notions about. I am here to explain these benefits and debunk the myths that hospice is the one foot in the grave, take away all your meds wait for you to die benefit. It is certainly NOT THAT or anything close to that. It is a wonderful benefit when the burden of treatment outweighs the benefit of the treatment. It is not giving up in no way. People Get admitted and discharged from the hospital every day- What we don't want is to come back within 30 days of that last admission. Face it No one wants to be in the hospital and NO ONE wants to be back within 30 days of being discharged or at all! There's no place like home ! We've all been in a doctor dentist some office where they hand you an authorization form and we sign, but do we ever read what we are signing? We should this case study shows what the consequences of someone calling in the wrong procedure. Consequences for the patient and her family and her credit score if she had let it. Christine was my second patient when I started my business I gave it my all. I charged her nothing, it was on a % of what I got back for her which was nothing. Was it a loss, no we both learned a very good lesson; the only one who really watches out for you is you- or your advocate. I wish I had met Christine before her procedure, things may have turned out differently. I will never forget Christine and I hope that you wouldn't either.
