We Meet: Octavian Pantis & Captain Emil DobrovolschiEpisode Summary: Octavian Pantis and Captain Emil Dobrovolschi shed light on the similarities in business and aviation today, by explaining the emphasis on good communication skills in business are sometimes overlooked, but yet recognized as utterly important. Listen today to hear their story and reason behind the book, “The Dark Cockpit.”About Guest: Octavian Pantis and Captain Emil Dobrovolschi are authors of the new book Dark Cockpit: How to Communicate, Lead, and Be in Control at All Times Like an Airline Captain. Octavian & Capt. Emil wrote this book as a tool to explain the tie-in between aviation and leadership across many facets of life -- and to explain in layman’s terms the concepts behind each action/decision being made in the dark cockpit. There is a key tie-in to aviation and leadership – communication. Pilots are communication experts – they can pass a message without using micro-gestures between co-pilots and an ever-changing flight crew. Communication or not being clear with your asks can have disastrous effects. With today’s more limited face-to-face interactions, it’s critical that we maintain and excel at becoming better communicators.Episode References: 20 year anniversary of 911 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_attacksDark Cockpit - https://tinyurl.com/rkd4mh34Cello - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CelloConnect:Connect with Rick: https://linktr.ee/mrrickjordanConnect with Octavian Pantis & Captain Emil Dobrovolschi: https://darkcockpitbook.com/Subscribe and Review to ALL IN with Rick Jordan on iTunes: https://tinyurl.com/yxg859leSubscribe and Comment on CastBox: https://tinyurl.com/yxcju2xaSubscribe on Google Podcasts (https://tinyurl.com/y28kjpb4) or Google PlayFollow on Spotify https://tinyurl.com/y32lva5ySubscribe and Review on Stitcher https://tinyurl.com/yxa776nk
We Meet: Ishan Girdhar, CEO/PrivvaAbout the Episode: Ishan Girdhar speaks on some best practices today with trusting other companies with your personal and professional information. Learn how to tell if the company is being secure with their data, and how they need to hold themselves accountable for breaches.About Ishan: A born entrepreneur, Ishan has always looked for ways to make things work better. So when he found himself in a vendor role in a previous business venture, he immediately recognized the bulky nature and time investment involved when companies tried to tackle the complexities of cybersecurity data flowing downstream internally. As data breaches and hacks became the norm, Ishan saw a need for third-party risk management solutions that would not only be easier to implement but ubiquitous to companies of varying sizes. Taking these insights, he went on to found Privva in 2016. He did this with the conviction that Vendor Risk Management is a more effective and efficient undertaking for small to mid-range businesses when the platform is easy to use and has an interface that requires no integrations for quick deployment. While focused on empowering small to mid-range-sized businesses to take control of their security, Privva’s Vendor Risk Management dashboard is a sound and powerful cybersecurity tool capable of serving any size enterprise. They found a man who was looking for some investors for his shoe stores. These men recognized that their chief competition was mail order operations like Montgomery Wards and Sears Roebuck. To encourage their potential customers to shop in the local community, they thought of the name “Trade At Home.” Then they shortened it to one word: “Tradehome.” And so it was that Tradehome Shoes began in 1921, and the name Tradehome remains to this day. It was family owned until 1999 when nine individuals, who had worked their way up in the company, bought it. Their succession plans include getting other Tradehome employees involved with ownership. Tradehome offers endless growth opportunities for individuals to work their way up through management, district management, regional supervision, buying positions, and possibly even ownership. All it takes is desire and hard work. From two stores in 1921, to over 120 stores in 2021, the success of Tradehome’s survival and growth has been summed up by its former owner, Donald Mains, in one word: PEOPLE. “People means our customers, and the outstanding level of Customer Service that sets us apart from other operations. People also means all the Tradehome organization with the ability and the attitude that has assured our success all these years.” This focus on customer service is what has set Tradehome apart from all of the other competition in the past and present. This focus on “people” is why Tradehome is here today! #RickJordan #Podcast #Shoes
