I am back! With a season 2 of TGIS! (This Girl Is SICK!) today I share a crazy story about my most recent hospital stay with a roommate that is nearly 100 years old but has the strength of a marvel hero and wwf wrestler all thrown into one. Hear all about the throw down on episode one of season two now!
Just a quick little update about all the insane hospital stays lately!
Your unapologetic porphyria host dives into how Michael Flanagan uses a type of Porphyria (EPP) in his creepy religious and horror themed series Midnight Mass.
Today I remind you why you should not feel obligated to explain yourself to someone that does not understand that you have a chronic illness, disability or mental illness. Also why they should feel bad for pressuring you to constantly explain yourself and why you should NOT feel guilty or bad for having to cancel plans due to your chronic illness, disability and or mental illness etc.
Hollywood is not always filled with negativity and bullies. I discovered how being blatantly honest about my chronic illness and disability opened doors into the music and entertainment industry that I used to think would have caused me to be shunned and rejected. Today I share with you how it is important to be proud of your uniqueness. Be open about your disability, be confident in yourself inside and out meaning be confident in who you TRULY ARE. If you show your true self others that will be sincerely supportive and want to help you succeed will be easier to reach and connect with. Being truthful about your disability and or differences will also help you to avoid and get rid of those that are nothing but negative and harmful to you and your future. So today I show you how I overcame being embarassed of myself and how Hollywood welcomed me as the unique blatantly honest badass artist I have always been since day one.
Today I share how a blind little west hollywood rescue named Pork Pie came into my life and saved and changed my life forever. I also talk about how animals help make us stronger and to have a purpose even on those days we may feel useless to the world, these animals depend on us and remind us of what matters most in life. Give your pet a hug and a pat after or better yet do it the whole time you listen to this episode. I wish I still had my Pork Pie to hug and thank him for his life changing impact on my life. He helped me cope with Porphyria and a medical disability. This Episode is in Memory of Pork Pie, Merc, StanLee, Azrael and all of the beloved animals that help us to be stronger better people.
How social media is silencing the disabled, chronic and terminal illness community.
Today I share another insane medical experience and advice on how to handle medical professionals that act anything BUT professional.
Today I share what happened when I was discriminated against at a job when my boss discovered that I have a chronic condition aka a medical disability. Hear how I fought back and WON. And how YOU CAN WIN TOO!
Today I share what I have experienced with the medical professional community and UNapologetically share my situation and how I am still getting through it. I hope this helps both chronic illness patients and medical professionals to have a more open honest line of communication. Do not be afraid to be honest about how you feel!
Enjoy this first hospitHELL experience of MANY I will be sharing in this SEVERAL part series on This Girl Is Sick! I NEVER edit anything, as you should know by now, I just speak to you, unedited.and unrehearaed, as if I am chatting with a close friend/pal on the phone or over coffee on a regular random afternoon. So sit back and enjoy what you will not believe is 110% the truth of my experiences with the medical community. Get ready to spit out that coffee! You will be shocked and probably crack up laughing! You have been warned ;-)
Today I answer a question that was sent to me asking what it is like having a chronic illness with relationships, from significant others to friends to family etc. Well get ready for my unedited and blatantly honest response.
I jump into a very brief intro into the very beginning of my chronic illness journey of when the "best years of my life" all began and how it took away the dreams I thought I would die without.
