Description

Criminal is a podcast about crime. Not so much the "if it bleeds, it leads," kind of crime. Something a little more complex. Stories of people who've done wrong, been wronged, and/or gotten caught somewhere in the middle. We're a proud member of Radiotopia, from PRX, a curated network of extraordinary, story-driven shows. Episode 105: Protection
John "Sonny" Franzese was once described as "largely responsible for the glamorization of the Mafia over the past century.” He'd been active in the Colombo crime family since the 1960s. And then, when he was 93, he was given an 8-year sentence. The evidence that helped convict him came from the last person he expected to wear a wire.Criminal is a proud member of Radiotopia from PRX.If you haven't already, please review us on iTunes! I remember hearing about Pearl when the guys from Ghost Adventures went to Bobby Mackey's Music World. Supposedly they threw her head down the well that's in the basement of the building but the police were never able to find it and I'm pretty sure that Zak Bagans said that he was sure that it got washed out to God knows where because the well leads to a stream or something if they really did throw her head in the well. I think that even Bobby Mackey said that he's sure it got washed out to somewhere else if they did as well.

I don't understand why the daughter is mad her mom? It's not like the mom knew or was complicit. I feel like she's being way too hard on her mom.

I am so sick of hearing prosecutors try to take years of people's lives like this. There needs to be more focus on corrupt prosecutors I. addition to the focus on bad cops. It is reprehensible what happened to this man and his family. Kudos to the judge for recognizing what bullshit smells like.

For an Irish person or was chilling, she had the mentality of some people who worked in the Magdalene laundries: that some parents weren't worthy.

Thank you for this episode. It felt very important, and he provided a unique perspective I'd never considered. I'd love to hear a proponent of the death penalty's thoughts after hearing this episode.

one of the best episodes of Criminal I have listened to. Probably because adoption is an interest of mine after working in the adoption industry. And it is an industry. Excellent work.

This feels like a violation of the right to free speech. Like they said, there's no way to prove someone would ACTUALLY go through with the crime being proposed to them. And to charge him with the mandatory minimums based off the created amounts of these drugs that don't actually exist?? If anything, they should only be able to charge him with the firearm in his possession. The US "justice system" is a joke.
