The Constitution of Ireland stipulates that the President of Ireland is inaugurated on the day following the expiry of the term of office of the preceding President.
Uachtarán na hÉireann, President Michael D. Higgins, received the President of South Africa, H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, at Áras an Uachtaráin for an Official Visit.
Following a ceremonial welcome, a private meeting took place between the two Heads of State, followed by a bilateral meeting between their delegations.
