Description

Hey guys! My name is Akash and I’m a junior doctor from the UK and I've decided to start my podcast called Stories from Global Health! I'll be interviewing people who work to improve healthcare around the globe, gaining their stories and experiences that helped shape them along the way, and how they're making the world a better place. I'll be talking to people who have set up their own NGOs, doctors, nurses and those in public health! If any of you have any stories you'd like to share please send me a message on storiesfromglobalhealth@gmail.com.

In this final episode I speak to Dr Xin She from Stanford University California and how she embarked on a mission with others to help save the lives of neonatal refugees, as delivery midwives in Tijuana (Mexico) had limited access to neonatal resuscitation measures during peak COVID in 2019.
What is life like on a refugee camp? What is happening with the refugee crisis in Greece? In this episode, I talk to Dr Sandrine about the real struggles and challenges that she has come across during her work as a  refugee doctor working  with the NGO  Med Equali Team in Greece, Samos. She explains the daily challenges that refugees face, what life is like on these refugee camps and how she is working with many others to help improve the situation.
In this episode, Zain discusses his thesis topic of opiate substance misuse in Kelowna, Canada, the lessons he's learnt and the experiences he's gained along the way. In particular he shares how we should be reframing substance misuse, how anger within the media has only heightened and magnified this within the rural and global context, and how we can approach this as a society in a more holistic and rational manner.
Abdi tells us his inspiring story of how he started off in public health, his early work with MSF, where he wants to take the healthcare of Somalia and the challenges he's faced along the way. For those interested in more of his work his work with the NGO Noble Health Consultancy is listed below: https://nohec.org/He's also been featured on television so anyone that understands arabic can follow! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=424026228707060&id=468010099926454
