Mercier was stabbed in the back with a broken bottle after a bar fight, one inch removed from it being a fatal injury. On this podcast he tells the entire story. Mercier's story, however, didn't start with live poker, as he was among the first Supernovas on PokerStars in 2006, and the 16th ever to become Supernova Elite in 2007.
