The events leading to the liberation of Kansas City from FEDRA, shows a brutal uprising and vengeful response from the people, following 20-years of rape, torture and murder at the hands of FEDRA and their collaborators that include Henry.
With Henry and his brother Sam hiding out with the doctor-come-FEDRA-collaborator Edelstein, they decide to move on when Edelstein fails to return after going to scavenge for food. Leaving their hideout, Henry witnesses Joel’s shootout with Bryan and the other members of Kathleen’s liberators and tracks Joel and Ellie.
After the standoff between Henry and Sam with Joel and Ellie, Henry proposes he can help them escape the city using a network of tunnels under the city of Kansas; Joel is not convinced but hesitantly agrees. While Ellie and Sam start to become pals.
Entering the tunnels that appear free of the infected as promised by Henry, they come across an old, now abandoned underground settlement. As Sam and Ellie make use of the play room, playing football and enjoying the comics, Henry admits to Joel he was responsible for the capture and death of Kathleen's brother, Michael the former leader of the resistance, in exchange for medication for Sam's leukemia.
Leaving the tunnels and making their way to safety, the group are attacked by a sniper lookout. Joel kills him but finds he is with Kathleen’s group and has radioed in their position. Arriving with her militia Kathleen prepares to kill Henry and the two kids, when a massive crowd of infected breach the ground, including many clickers and a large "bloater".
In the ensuing chaos Ellie is protected from afar by Joel and the sniper rifle. Henry and Sam are pinned under a car by two clickers but are saved by Ellie, making their way to Joel’s position. As Perry protects Kathleen, the bloater kills him, and Kathleen escapes to confront Henry once again but is pounced on by a child clicker.
Away from the infected hoard and holed up in a motel, Sam shows Ellie he was bitten by an infected. Ellie tries to use her blood to heal Sam, but the next morning, the infected Sam attacks Ellie, forcing Henry to kill his young brother. Realizing what he did, Henry takes his own life with a gunshot to the head. In the tragic aftermath of Sam and Henry’s deaths, Joel and Ellie bury them and somberly continue their journey westwards to Wyoming.

Synopsis for The Last Of Us Episode 4 "Please Hold To My Hand"
Traveling on their way to Wyoming to find Joel’s brother Tommy, the pair's distant relationship begins to thaw as they spend time on the road; as Joel begins to answer some of the many questions from Ellie and even gives her a few smiles as she quizzes him with puns from a book she found.
As they approach Kansas City the route is blocked. When they take a shortcut through the ruins of the city they get ambushed by bandits. Joel kills two of them, but a third manages to overpower and nearly strangle him to death before Ellie saves him by shooting the man with her gun she took from Bill and Frank’s house. As they look to escape their predicament Joel allows Ellie to keep the handgun.
The three bodies are found by more of the bandit group led by Kathleen, a determined woman who has broken the control of FEDRA in Kansas City to find the collaborators involved with the death of her brother. Kathleen orders a manhunt for these well-equipped outsiders believing that Joel and Ellie are involved with a man named Henry, who she is hunting as a collaborator.
Meanwhile at Henry’s abandoned hideout, Kathleen's second-in-command, Perry, also finds evidence of unusual infected activity in the basement of the same building. But Kathleen orders him to conceal it until they find Henry.
Joel and Ellie seek refuge in a high rise to sleep for the night until they can scout a way out of Kansas City. Waking up to Ellie’s call he finds they are both being held at gunpoint by Henry and his younger brother Sam.

On the road, Joel mourns the loss of his partner, Tess and her sacrifice, his relationship with Ellie gets more complicated as she believes he blames her for Tess' death, but insists that they both made their own choices. As they continue towards Bill and Frank's house, Ellie learns how quickly the world fell apart and the cause of the fungal outbreak that led to it.
Back in 2003, days after the outbreak, a paranoid anti-government ”Survivalist” called Bill ignores a FEDRA order to leave his home. While he is unaware that the other residents of his town were murdered by FEDRA to prevent the outbreak, he settles into his new life, protecting his home and living a self-sufficient but solitary life in the estate.
Bill’s life is interrupted one day four years later, when another survivor, Frank, stumbles into one of Bill's traps. Despite his rough demeanour Bill falls for Frank and they move in together.
As time moves on Frank encourages Bill to reach out and make some friends. He invites Tess and Joel to visit and work with them. While Frank works out the musical warning system with Tess, Joel warns Bill that raiders will come to loot everything they have.
It takes three more years for Joel’s prediction to come true, when an organised group attacks the couple's home. Bill’s defences stand up to the test but he is shot in the attack. As he thinks he’s dying he tells Frank to reach out to Joel for protection. Bill survives the gunshot, but ten years later Frank’s health has deteriorated and he decides he wants one last good day. He marries Bill and they have another beautiful meal together before Bill assists him in ending his life. But Bill also chooses to end his own life. He’s old, satisfied and Frank was his purpose. They pass away in each other's arms and in their own bed.
Back in the present day, Joel and Ellie arrive and find Bill’s note explaining he’s leaving everything to Joel, including all his weapons and a fully working car.Despite his refusal to allow her to be armed, Ellie finds and keeps Frank’s gun and the duo set off for Joel’s brother Tommy. He’s a former Firefly and Joel hopes he has the connections to get Ellie to their Firefly hospital where they will examine her resistance to the outbreak.

Welcome back fellow survivors we're chatting about The Last Of Us Episode 2 "Infected" in our spoiler filled podcast.
Based on the PlayStation Game series from Naughty Dog
Showrunner: Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann
Episode Written by: Craig Mazin
Episode Directed by: Neil Druckmann
Synopsis for The Last Of Us Episode 2 "Infected"
In Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2003, Ibu Ratna, a professor of mycology, is brought in by the army to examine a body bitten by a co-worker in a wheat milling facility and infected with cordyceps. The authorities are looking for a cure to prevent the spread of this emerging outbreak, but after her shocking discovery, her advice is simple: Start bombing the city and everyone in it!!
In the present, after escaping the quarantine zone, Ellie has questions to answer after it is discovered that she is infected. She explains to Joel and Tess that she is immune and is being transported west in hopes of being used to find a cure by the Fireflies.Searching for a way through the city to the waiting Fireflies at the Boston State House, they discover their preferred route, the “long-way around”, is littered with newly infected.
Looking at the mass of infected from on high, Tess explains to Ellie how they are connected through the mycorrhizal network or fibres, to try and warn her that her immunity doesn’t stretch to being ripped apart. The threesome must now cut around the infected through the Bostonian Museum, a shorter route, but one that Joel and Tess are apprehensive about.
Entering the museum, there are signs of the presence of a “clicker”, an infected that is blind but uses sounds and vibrations to locate its victims. Moving slowly, and with care, they are close to making their way to safety when they are attacked by two clickers. As Joel and Tess struggle to fight the clickers off, they finally manage to kill them, but not before Ellie is bitten again and Tess injures her ankle.
After bandaging themselves up the trio arrives at the State House only to find the Fireflies slaughtered by one another after one member was infected. Seemingly their mission is short-lived as Joel believes they must head back to the quarantine zone. But Tess’ mood begins to change, revealing she was bitten on the neck, while Ellie's bite begins to heal, showing her immunity. Debating what to do, one of the infected Fireflies that has turned is shot by Joel, which alerts many others to their location through the fungus tendril network.
With little time remaining as the hoard charges towards the State House and the infection begins to take hold of Tess, she pleads with Joel to take Ellie to their contacts Bill and Frank who will deliver her west to the Fireflies and to keep some hope alive. She manages to convince him to escape with Ellie while she remains.
The horde runs into the State House after Joel and Ellie, ignoring Tess, who is struggling to ignite the gasoline and grenades cocktail with her lighter. As more infected pile into the State House one infec...

Based on the PlayStation Game series from Naughty Dog
Showrunner: Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann
Episode Written by: Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann
Episode Directed by: Craig Mazin
Synopsis for The Last Of Us Episode 1 "When You’re Lost In The Darkness"
In 2003, Joel Miller’s birthday with his daughter, Sarah, is turned into a nightmare as a fungal pandemic hits their hometown of Austin, Texas turning its victims into bloodthirsty attackers. As the fungus starts to spread, Sarah, Joel and his brother Tommy flee into the chaos, leading to dire consequences. After escaping an infected “runner”, Sarah is killed by a soldier who shoots her believing her and Joel to be infected. As the soldier goes to finish off Joel he is saved by Tommy.
Twenty years later, after the planet has been ravaged by the fungal outbreak, life is harsh and desolate for the survivors in this new world. Joel lives in the Boston quarantine zone managed by the Federal Disaster Response Agency (FEDRA), as a smuggler with his partner Tess. Confined within the walls of the quarantine zone and subject to martial law, they try to source a car battery to leave the city in search of Tommy who has dropped out of contact from his location in Wyoming. But the local dealer, Robert, has instead sold the battery to the Fireflies, a rebel group that opposes FEDRA. Joel and Tess head to confront Robert.
As the Fireflies’ leader in Boston, Marlene, begins to enact a new mission to move a valuable asset, a young girl named Ellie, from Boston. Her attempts to secure transport out of the city with Robert goes awry and she is injured in a shootout. Arriving at the Fireflies’ headquarters, a wounded Marlene pleads with Joel and Tess to take young Ellie to the Massachusetts State House. Reluctantly Joel and Tess accept the additional burden to their plans in exchange for supplies and a fully gassed up working vehicle.Sneaking past the heavy FEDRA security through no-man’s land, the group of three are caught by a soldier. He tests each of them for infection but when Ellie stabs him, he tries to shoot her. With flashes to the death of his daughter, Joel protects Ellie, tackling the soldier to the ground and beating him to death.
In the violent aftermath, Tess realizes Ellie is infected. While Ellie promises them that she will not turn, there is little time to debate the situation. As they make a break from pursuing FEDRA soldiers, into a biological contamination area, little do they realise that their new mission could change everything.
In Joel’s empty apartment a song plays on the radio an 80s coded message of impending trouble.

That evening the group are discovered by the current gun toting, horse riding “owners” of the shelter who take an immediate dislike to Sam and threaten to kill them all. President Jennifer Brown is reunited with her son, Yorick Brown, at her base of operations. Yorick is hidden in his mum’s apartment and his presence is kept secret, only known by the President, Agent 355 and the two helicopter pilots.
A restless Ampersand manages to escape from the bedroom and Yorick rushes to get him back. Hearing commotion in the corridor from her bed the sedated and confused former First Lady spots the shadows of Ampersand and Yorick and follows the noise to investigate. In a cordoned off part of the building, Agent 355 and Jennifer manage to find Yorick and convince the former First Lady that she was imagining the man who had just a few minutes ago stood before her.
As the secret of Yorick gets harder to hide and the challenges mount for President Brown new challenges threaten her team with the discovery in Israel of the only female member of the previous administration, Regina Oliver - a fanatical fringe politician. The presence of Yorick only becomes a further liability to her position as the dead President’s daughter, Kimberley, questions the legitimacy of her presidency and begins to circle Jennifer’s secret.
Agent 355 pitches a plan to get Yorick away to safety and to protect the President involving an undercover escape along with the two pilots. Two helicopters lift off on a course to Boston to rendezvous with a geneticist, Dr. Mann, but early in their flight Yorick and Agent 355 witness technical difficulties on the other helicopter as it, along with two pilots, crashes to earth and explodes.
