About the guest: Growing up between two refugee camps, Nyajuok and her family lived at the limited generosity of the United Nations (U.N). Shortly after her family moved to the United States of America, Nyajuok found herself in another war when her family forced her into an arranged marriage at 14 years old. Hoping for a better future, she broke cultural norms and practices to pave a better future for herself and future generations despite what her family or her community thought. With three children, a failing marriage, health problems, and a doomed career, Nyajuok became hopeless and contemplated ending her life. Luckily, her Christian upbringing saved her when she was on the verge of suicide. Nyajuok realized that her lifelong struggles and unrelenting will to succeed could be a survival guide for someone in their darkest moments. As difficult as it was to relive these moments making this book come to life, she knew her experiences were not only for her but for those who might be walking a similar path. After putting her misfortunes down on paper, Nyajuok learned her ultimate life purpose. She became a champion of resilience. In this captivating memoir, Nyajuok illustrates her life story unapologetically despite coming from a patriarchal society in an East African country. Her life is a true testimony that no matter where we come from or what we have faced, the American Dream is alive and available to anyone willing to work for it. Get the book: Get the book: https://amzn.to/3NUXW9aAbout the host: Teresa Janzen, M.Ed., ignites a passion for abundant living through radical service. Have you ever felt alone and out of place? As followers of Jesus Christ, we are all foreigners on earth. Today we continue to talk about love but in a different context. In the first half of the show we look at the immigrant journey and how we can love our immigrant neighbor, then we transition to the realization that we are all immigrants, or foreigners, on earth. You’ll want to listen to the end because that’s where the good stuff is. Guest Bio:Born and raised within the minority Christian community in India, Mabel Ninan moved to America in 2008. As she struggled to fit in and longed for rootedness and belonging, God opened her eyes to the fact that she was a spiritual immigrant too, a foreigner on earth who does not belong in this world. Her mission is to encourage believers to embrace their immigrant journey on earth and live out their calling with boldness and passion.  Mabel's writings explore the intersection between faith, culture, and identity. Her articles have been published in CBN.com, The Upper Room, (in)courage.me, and Leading Hearts magazine. Her essay, "#LockdownLessons: How the Pandemic Reshaped My Understanding of Church", published in LeadingHearts.com as well as Courageous Magazine (India), won the Selah Award (Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference) in the essay category in 2021. Mabel's first book, "Far from Home: Discovering Your Identity as Foreigners on Earth" will be released in July 2022 by Iron Stream Media. She is a contributor to Guideposts’, "All God’s Creatures 2022: Daily Devotions for Animal Lovers". Love Big provides a web-based platform to connect humanitarian organizations with those in need.  Along with our indigenous partners, Love Big is currently doing the groundwork to gather and provide data on humanitarian needs relating to water, food, medicine, and other projects.  Local and international organizations who know the geography and local population where these needs exist will adopt these projects. We will provide our partner organizations with local contacts and the coordinates for these vetted projects, and they will go to work together.  We are a faith-based, Christian organization and believe in the trinitarian God of the Bible. We believe we were created to reflect His love, mercy, and grace. The Bible and historic writers accurately account that Jesus associated with, served, healed, and taught the oppressed, the sick, the hungry, and the afflicted.  Jesus exemplified and articulated the priority of loving both God and our neighbors. These were the “greatest” commandments (Jesus).  Love Big attempts to live out these commandments by doing our humanly best version of what He did and asked. In the end, lives will change, communities will be transformed, and a missional church will emerge.  We are in the final stages of the site build and have partners ready to test the site with projects upon completion.  Get updates on the project or connect with Mark at mark@lovebig.org Mode of Operation:•         Research is Crowd-Sourced Locally•         Information is Deeply Analyzed•         Thoughtful Partnerships are Established•         Gates are Opened and Game Changers are Mobilized•         Economic Viability is Enabled•         Pastoring is Provided#love big #radical abundance #humanitarian development #Teresa JanzenSupport the showLearn more about Radical Abundance at Radical-Abundance.comTeresa Janzen is your host. What is God's grace and why is it so difficult to understand? Grace is completely contrary to our human culture. We like things to be fair. God gives us grace without any regard to our behavior. To some, that may seem unfair. The theological definition of Grace is unmerited favor. It's being rewarded even when you don't deserve to be. Even more, it is reward without any regard for our behavior whatsoever. God gives us benefits in spite of and completely without regard to our behavior. If that weren't so, we would be earning salvation rather than receiving it--and that is contrary to salvation through faith. Sure we do good things - hopefully because of gratitude toward God for all he has done for us, but that is not why we receive the benefit of a relationship with God and eternal life. Support the showLearn more about Radical Abundance at Radical-Abundance.comTeresa Janzen is your host. Grace is understood by Christians to be a spontaneous gift from God to people – "generous, free and totally unexpected and undeserved" – that takes the form of divine favor, love, clemency, and a share in the divine life of God. It is an attribute of God that is most manifest in the salvation of sinners. Grace is most often described as God's unmerited favor toward His people. The Radical Abundance theme for January is God's Abundance of Grace. We are starting off the series with a discussion indirectly related to grace-- the rights-based approach to development work and humanitarian aid. Before 1997, most UN development agencies pursued a ‘basic needs’ approach: They identified basic requirements of people and either supported initiatives to improve service delivery or advocated for their fulfillment.A human rights-based approach seeks to reinforce the capacities of duty bearers (usually governments) to respect, protect and guarantee the rights of people. It aims to address development complexities holistically, taking into consideration the connections between individuals and the systems of power or influence. And it endeavors to create dynamics of accountability. But there is a big challenge in actually implementing a rights-based approach to development. It begins with inconsistent definitions of rights and the lack of understanding of whose responsibility it is to provide goods and services to people in need.
