One of the biggest Myths being perpetuated is that in order to build a successful Coaching business you need to be a great coach! Being a great coach will help with retention...but being certified up the wazoo isn't going to get you clients! Just ask the 70%+ of ICF certified coaches who are making less than $50K a year. Your Coaching business will succeed if you focus (first) on how to Market and sell your coaching and build your skill set along the way. That doesn't mean you take peoples money not knowing how to get them a result...that's called fraud and usually comes with time in the BIG HOUSE! There are ways to build your skills without putting peoples money at risk...but FIRST, you have to find them! Ok, let's get on with this!
The question of should I or should I not Niche my business isn't new. In fact is probably the #1 question most new businesses ask themselves (though they may not realize it). You can talk about all the Strategies you want. What we came to realize is that there is something even more powerful. In our years of experience, we’ve see an awful lot of presentations.  Emphasis should be placed on awful.  Companies spend way too much time bragging on themselves and extolling their greatness as opposed to focusing on the meaningful ways they aid the interests and alleviate the concerns of their customer. An interesting exercise is to make a presentation from the customer’s perspective, addressing information the way they are likely processing your conversation with them.
