As fitness professionals like personal trainers, nutritionists, and health coaches, it's easy to get caught up in the mindset that more leads and clients are the key to growing a successful fitness business. However, while getting leads is important, solely focusing on lead generation without considering client retention and loyalty is a recipe for high client turnover and an unsustainable business. In this video from the podcast "Becoming the Ultimate Coach with the Jock and the Doc", we dive into why building a thriving fitness business requires more than just acquiring new leads and clients. Getting more leads through marketing and outreach can certainly help grow your clientele, but not if those clients don't stick around long-term. As a fitness professional, you need to provide tremendous value to your clients and foster trust and loyalty. This leads to longer client retention, repeat business, and referrals.Rather than constantly chasing new leads, nurture and invest in your existing clients. Create personalized fitness training and nutrition plans tailored to their unique goals and needs. Offer accountability, support, and expert mentorship on their health and wellness journey. Provide an excellent client experience and build meaningful relationships. Don't view clients as just sales and revenue - view them as humans you are helping succeed. If chasing leads doesn't play to your strengths as a fitness mentor, don't force it. Focus on honing your coaching, motivational, and relationship-building skills to create raving fans who will sing your praises. Satisfied clients will organically lead to new leads and new business without having to constantly pitch and sell your services.Of course, striking the right balance between lead generation and creating long-term client value is ideal for sustainable growth. Use targeted marketing to reach new leads, but also nurture those leads into devoted clients once they sign on. Provide incredible value, service, and education to turn clients into brand evangelists. Remember, quality clients are more valuable than quantity of leads. As a fitness professional, avoid getting caught in the trap of lead chasing at the expense of providing real value. Building a loyal client base through expert coaching, motivation, and relationships is key to standing out, retaining clients, and growing a thriving fitness business in the long run.______________Inspired by https://www.youtube.com/@AlexHormozihttps://www.youtube.com/@RenaissancePeriodizationhttps://www.youtube.com/ @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation PG clean, family friendly, no swearingAlso check out these past videos of oursUnlocking Lasting Fitness: The Art of Balancing Quick Resultshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNXosjr6VsgUncover the Secret to Stop Overeating - Find out the 5 Tips!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WVjvkA6SBQUncovering The Dark Side of Being a Personal Trainer: Don't Ignore This Before Becoming Onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5ZGkbOMk-IBecoming a Personal Trainer: 8 Things You Need to Know Now!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA4TsRGfY78Interested in BECOMING the ULTIMATE FITNESS COACH?! Scott explains that small, sustainable changes to daily habits, nutrition, mindset and more add up to big lifestyle transformations over time.So how can you guide clients to make positive changes during their time outside the gym? He advises fitness business owners and coaches to foster social connections between members through group activities and social media engagement. Feel like your personal training clients aren't getting the fitness and health results they want? Hosts Scott and Dr. J reveal the #1 mistake fitness professionals and certified personal trainers make - not matching the plan to the goal by leveraging behavior science. Without understanding habit change strategies, even the best exercise and nutrition plans from fitness trainers and nutritionists fall short.Scott explains how fitness training alone often proves insufficient for most weight loss or lifestyle change goals. Even adding nutrition coaching sparks limited long-term change if clients don't embrace new healthy habits. Early compliance vanishes when motivation fades.Dr. J echoes the need to ground coaching in evidence-based psychology techniques. Decades of research on behavioral psychology reveals why we act the way we do. Ignoring this glaringly hampers client success for gym owners and fitness coaches. While exercise knowledge is crucial, human behavior determines outcomes. Both acknowledge behavior change is complex and challenging. But lasting transformation requires comprehending those intricacies, not dismissing them. There are proven frameworks to systematically shift mindsets and actions. For example, Scott notes the huge role environment and cues play in habit formation. Fitness coaching must extend beyond gyms to help reshape clients' surroundings and triggers to support healthy habits. Dr. J highlights the power of community and social support for intrinsic motivation and accountability.Incremental, sustainable habit change focused on enjoyment trumps extreme makeovers bound to fail. Jumping to solutions without understanding clients' experiences and perspectives dooms progress.Dr. J stresses the wellness journey never ends. Maintenance needs equal priority to achievement for fitness business owners. Relapse prevention and resilience techniques from fitness psychology enable clients to navigate obstacles. In summary, helping clients achieve transformational goals demands fitness business coaches master behavior change strategies. Without it, fitness professionals severely limit impact and career potential. To drive breakthrough results, mindset and habit change must take center stage. Struggling to make progress on your fitness and wellness goals? Hosts Dr. J and Scott explore why we often sabotage our own journeys in the latest episode. They reveal three common reasons goals fail and equip listeners with smart strategies to create sustainable success.First, unrealistic or incompatible goals doom many journeys. Scott notes many choose objectives based on others' expectations or desire quick changes exceeding their current capability. Like increasing bench press when one really just wants to play with grandchildren - which bench press is unnecessary for. Creating goals not aligned to your authentic motives and starting point sets you up for disappointment.Next, rigidly following plans incompatible with lifestyle and preferences leads to failure. As Dr. J explains, we often latch onto diets or programs that worked for others or are trendy versus tailored to our demands and likes. For example, an early morning intense training plan for a night owl. Not designing around your unique needs makes consistency unlikely.Lastly, seeking the "easy button" trips people up. Our wiring pushes us toward quick fixes promising outsized rewards for little effort. But these defy logic, science and sustainability. Like "eat anything and lose weight" diets. Dr. J urges finding the minimal effective dose moving you towards goals through smart, consistent action. To create lasting success, Scott and Dr. J recommend:Set goals fulfilling your values versus others' expectations. Seek small wins building capability and confidence.Design plans fitting your schedule, skills and preferences to make adherence enjoyable.Focus on process over outcomes. MasterPROGRESS, not perfection.Identify the smallest change with the biggest impact for you. Build through minimal effective dose, not drastic overhauls.Scott and Dr. J equip listeners with insights to ditch short-lived diets and setbacks for lifelong wellbeing. By honoring your unique needs and capabilities, you engineer plans built to last. Tune in to gain science-backed strategies on achieving fitness and wellness goals compatible with your lifestyle and values. The journey continues one realistic step at a time.

In the latest episode of "Becoming the Ultimate Fitness Coach with the Jock and the Doc," hosts Dr. J and Scott tackle the important but often poorly understood topic of client compliance. As always they are focused on increasing results in training for fitness and supporting the business of fitness, With their combined background in personal training and human behavior expert, they understand that designing the perfect workout and nutrition program is only half the battle - getting clients to fully commit to and follow that program is just as crucial for achieving results. Dr. J emphasizing that compliance needs to be a top priority for any fitness coach. Even the best program in the world won't get results if clients aren't sticking to it consistently. She points out that there are two big mistakes coaches make when trying to improve compliance: (1) not dedicating enough focus to it from the very start of working with a client, and (2) trying to talk about compliance during training sessions. She argues that compliance needs to be woven into the fabric of the client-coach relationship, not treated as an afterthought; and substantive conversations need to happen in a separate, dedicated time and space outside of sweat-dripping, heart-pumping workout sessions.Scott chimes in that the best way to lay the groundwork for excellent compliance is to have in-depth consultations with clients, outside of the gym environment. These sessions do not have to be long, the recommendation being about 15 minutes.  During these sessions coaches can explore clients' goals, motivations and potential obstacles in-depth, without distractions. These meetings allow coaches to understand how to best support each individual client in staying consistent, overcoming hurdles and taking ownership of their programs. Scott reflects on mistakes he made early in his personal training career and that he still sees when working with other personal trainers; the tendency to have all consultations on the gym chatting briefly between sets. He learned over time that compliance is about the plan that works for the client and their lifestyle, which requires a recurring discussion topic, not a one-off conversation. To wrap up the insightful episode, Dr. J and Scott share examples of questions and topics to address during compliance consultations. The hosts emphasize that conversations should be two-way, with the coach actively listening and making adjustments based on the client's needs. With their trademark humor and wisdom, Dr. J and Scott deliver excellent insights into why coaching compliance is so critical for personal trainers, and how dedicating real time and attention to it separates the good from the great in the fitness industry. Tune in to this episode to learn practical strategies for setting clients up for success with their programs. Just like in fitness pursuits, consistency is everything when building strong coach-client relationships.Keep watching for more videos on #fitness #training #business Subscribe for best daily videos Also check out: Gym for Beginners: 5 Tips for Successhttps://youtu.be/eQPbnnqJRus(PG Clean Family Friendly For Kids, No Swearing)Inspired by https://www.youtube.com/@AlexHormozihttps://www.youtube.com/@UCfQgsKhHjSyRLOp9mnffqVg Programming Personal Training Sessions | How To Create Workouts As A Personal Trainer | 2023 GuideClient Check Ins Fitness and Nutrition CoachesAlso check out these past videos of oursUncover the Secret to Stop Overeating - Find out the 5 Tips!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WVjvkA6SBQBecoming a Personal Trainer: 8 Things You Need to Know Now!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA4TsRGfY78Interested in BECOMING the ULTIMATE FITNESS COACH?! Welcome back to our channel, your trusted guide to personal growth and professional achievement! In our latest video, "The Surprising Secret to Becoming a Great Coach," we dive deep into the crucial foundations of effective coaching and provide insights that could revolutionize your approach. This isn't just another video about fitness, personal training, exercise, or weight loss. It's about transforming your coaching journey from being 'good' to 'great.'You might recall Jordan Peterson's famous words, "Want to make the world a better place, start by cleaning your room." This idea rings true for coaches as well. It's about introspection and self-improvement before expecting changes in others. As personal trainers, we might find it relatively easier to grasp concepts related to exercise and nutrition. But what about other crucial areas such as finances, time management, or relationships? Our video addresses these overlooked areas and breaks them down into three central concepts:Know Yourself - It all starts with self-understanding. A coach who doesn't practice introspection is like a ship without a compass. Learn how to assess and elevate your strengths while also acknowledging and improving your weaknesses.Empathy - The ability to resonate with others is not just about understanding their perspective. It's about feeling what they feel and genuinely desiring to assist them in their journey. Empathy is the bridge that connects coaches to their clients on a deeper, more personal level.Behavioral Science in Coaching - Understand that every recommendation you make as a coach needs to be grounded in the principles of behavior science. The ability to shape and influence behavior is crucial to bringing about meaningful and lasting changes in clients' lives. So, if you're an aspiring coach in the realm of personal training, fitness, nutrition, or if you're just passionate about helping others achieve their goals, this video is for you. Explore these themes with us as we venture into the surprising secret to becoming a great coach, a journey that begins with personal transformation.Remember, the key to impactful coaching isn't just about the knowledge you impart but also about the journey you've embarked on yourself. As a coach, your transformation can be the catalyst for your client's change. So, join us in this journey of self-improvement and see how it can create a ripple effect, impacting not only your life but also those around you. Habits & Behavior - How the Fitness Industry is Falling ShortWelcome to our latest episode, "Habits & Behavior - How the Fitness Industry is Falling Short." Today, we challenge the conventional understanding of personal training, nutrition coaching, and weight loss - by delving into the intriguing world of behavior science. Why is it that even with the most effective exercise regimens and diet plans, many people struggle with weight loss? The answer often lies not in the workout or meal plan, but in our habits and behaviors. We are putting a spotlight on popular techniques - Motivational Interviewing, Accountability Coaching, and Habit Based Coaching, and discussing how these methods, though beneficial, might be missing the mark when used in isolation. We begin with Dr. J, a respected authority in the health and fitness sector and a pioneer in bridging fitness and psychology. As a woman who has made her mark in this industry, Dr. J underscores the crucial role of behavioral science for anyone involved in the health and fitness world. She posits that sustainable weight loss isn't simply about rigorous exercise or strict diets, but more about understanding and modifying our ingrained habits and behaviors. In our Motivational Interviewing segment, we discuss how this counseling approach, while can be effective at inspiring individuals to find their motivation for lifestyle changes, falls short if the approach isn't from a seasoned professional or is limited in the type of questions asked. We have to be cautious of asking questions that lead in directions we don't want or know how to handle. Our conversation on Accountability Coaching reveals how this method can enhance a client's commitment to their fitness journey. However, it's crucial to note that accountability is more than just a tool for ensuring compliance with exercise routines and diet plans. We discuss how personal trainers and nutrition coaches need to evolve their approach, emphasizing more on fostering self-responsibility and less on external accountability. Finally, we explore Habit Based Coaching, which advocates for the formation of healthier habits and the elimination of harmful ones. However, we argue that most coaches we see using what they call habit coaching is really just telling someone to do something over and over again. This doesn't lead to habits, it's more of a quick fix that's unsustainable. If you're a personal trainer, a nutrition coach, or simply someone striving for weight loss, this episode will offer a fresh perspective. We shed light on how understanding and incorporating behavior science could be the key to a more effective fitness journey and how these standalone techniques may not be as effective as they seem. "Uncovering The Dark Side of Being a Personal Trainer: Don't Ignore This Before Becoming One" sets out to debunk the rosy illusion surrounding the profession of personal training. This in-depth exploration goes beyond the sweat-slicked glamour and allure that fitness ads sell and dives headlong into the stark reality of the fitness industry. This exploration aims to present a realistic view of the profession, but it also celebrates the potential rewards and fulfillment this career path can offer. So, stay with us as we delve deeper into both the pitfalls and the rewards of becoming a personal trainer. Many enter the field inspired by tales of 6-figure incomes earned on sandy beaches, shimmering visions of working with professional athletes, or the simple appeal of staying in shape. However, the journey of fitness professionals, specifically personal trainers, is more complex and challenging than what meets the eye.Contrary to popular belief, being a fitness trainer requires more than just a love for lifting weights or being a former athlete. Fitness training isn't a default option for those at a career crossroads, but a vocation that demands a relentless passion for fitness and an undying desire to inspire that passion in others.A crucial aspect often overlooked is the health behavior of clients. As a certified personal trainer, your primary task is not just to devise workout routines but also to act as a fitness mentor, promoting healthy habits, and influencing a positive health behavior change. This requires a deep understanding of fitness psychology and behavior coaching, and a degree of empathy that isn't everyone's cup of tea. While the fitness business might promise a glamorous lifestyle, the profession entails irregular and long work hours that might not appeal to everyone. If you're someone who craves the stability of a set salary and detests change, this industry might test your patience. Moreover, as a fitness business owner, you'd also have to manage the less appealing administrative aspects.Furthermore, the realm of fitness training is one of continuous evolution. You must harbor a desire for ongoing education, to stay relevant and effective. As a personal trainer, your roles might range from being a nutritionist helping with weight loss to becoming a fitness business coach hosting a fitness business podcast. A lack of enthusiasm for continuous learning can make you feel outpaced in this fast-evolving industry. The aspect of dealing with different personalities and temperaments can be another potential challenge. Limited patience and empathy can turn out to be major roadblocks when dealing with varied clients. Remember, the role of a personal trainer often overlaps with that of a psychologist, and this is where behavioral psychology comes into play. Your ability to handle different personalities, frustrations, and limitations can heavily influence your success in this field. However, even with these challenges, if you still feel a strong calling towards this path, then you're in the right place. The Healthy Behavior Institute and other similar platforms offer valuable resources for aspirants to make an informed decision. Despite its challenges, the field can be highly rewarding for those genuinely passionate about fitness and health.Inspired by If You're a PT, Don't Work FOR The Gym, I'll Explain...Inspired by How to be a Successful Trainer / Gym Owner | Day In The Life...Inspired by You Want to Become a Personal Trainer ?
