Have you ever heard of the Flannel Nightgown? It's our glossary term for this episode, and it explains the transition that develops in all romantic relationships.I'll be reviewing the movie Sing Street, released in 2016. It will bring us back to the 80s when things were so much simpler. The film has a great message about taking risks in putting yourself out there and being willing to accept some levels of humiliation as you grow, learn and chase your passion. In the Potpourri Segment, I'll cover "Dating Truths," Part 1. These truths emerged out of repeating patterns and behaviors I began to pick up on when I started dating again in my early 50s regarding Soul Mates, Rejection, and how to test the dating waters effectively.Questions, Comments, or Podcast Topic Suggestions: questions@50datesat50.com50 Dates at 50 Website: https://50datesat50.com/

In this episode, Paul first looks at the dating term "Spilling Your Guts" and how Hollywood has brainwashed men into thinking this is a wonderfully romantic idea. Gals (and guys), ever wonder why you didn't get a second date? Paul next gives the lowdown on the possible reasons as he reviews author Rachel Greenwald's book Why He Didn't Call You Back. In this book, Rachel interviews 1000 men to find out what went wrong. She breaks things down to the top 16 reasons and the stereotypes that fit them. As you work through your dating plan, you'll begin to see the patterns in both yourself and your dates. The good news is you can usually correct them with a series of minor adjustments. In addition, guys will discover the top five reasons they don't get to a second date. Many Boomers remember the instructional films shown in school. Paul here begins providing audio highlights from these videos, as they are now part of the public domain. "Oneitis" is a condition we all go through. It can start to sneak up within the first few moments of a phone call and linger for days before a couple even gets out on that first meetup. In this episode, Paul takes a closer look at this vocabulary term. Many romances begin with a couple's mutual dislike for one another. As they spend more time together, they grow and bond. Guys, this movie demonstrates how remaining a mystery creates attraction.Omicron is making its presence known in the dating community, as things have regressed to the way it was last year at this time. He also notes why showing up to a date dressed for a Costco shopping run is not the best of ideas.

One of the things many daters need to embrace is the Abundance Mindset, the reality that there are plenty of really great guys and gals to go around. If you're struggling with dating, remember that the number of available men and women is not static. Like real estate, where there is a constant change in the lineup of homes for sale and coming off the market, the number of available dateable people also shifts.  To better explore how people communicate love to each other, Paul herein reviews the book The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. The dating question in this episode focuses on a potential retirement community romance.Good daters need a plan. One of the best ways to address these problems is with Right Swipe Discipline. It's all about slowing the process down so you can keep up with potential dates. Today's recommended movie is Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong.
