Description

Hi everybody! I'm Apu, that means "big sister" in Bangla. I'm here to answer questions you may have on relationships, life changes, mental health, family drama - anything and everything!

On each episode I'll select a few questions and curate an answer based on my experiences as a Bangladeshi-American. Everyone’s identity will be kept anonymous in an effort to create a safe space and foster authentic and genuine conversation.

Moving out of your parents house to live on your own is usually an exciting journey with lots of new lessons to learn. But when you live with strict immigrant parents, sometimes just telling them you are moving out is the biggest challenge keeping you from living your dreams. Or what about if you have to temporarily move back in with your parents for unforeseen reasons *coughpademiccough*? Establishing boundaries with them that you never had while growing up can be draining, especially when they still treat you like a child. In this episode of Ask Apu, Apu and Dulabhai share their experiences of moving in and out of their Bangladeshi homes, the emotional baggage that comes with it, and share their advice on what to do.
