LibriVox recording of The Lancashire Witches penned by Harrison Ainsworth and read by the awesome Andy Minter
The Lancashire Witches is a definitely fictionalised account of the activities of the infamous witches Demdike, Chattox and Alice Nutter who, together with counterparts seemed hell bent on terrorising the district of Lancashire around Pendle Hill and the Forest of Bowland areas, during the early part of the seventeenth century. The witches named in the book were real enough, maybe not witches, but certainly people.
Ainsworth, in his witchy tale, brings in the dissolution of #Whalley-Abbey and the historic families of #Assheton, #Braddyll and #Nowell and takes us through to the very last trial and execution at #Lancaster-Castle in 1612.
A great book for the Tale Teller to serialise daily in the coming weeks.
We have many great audiobooks on our main site and some amazing role play adventures online.
