It’s our 50th episode and we hoped we’d have a slightly happier topic of conversation. Unfortunately, it’s been a cruel, cruel summer for Racing. After losses to Bay FC and the North Carolina Courage, the gang is left wondering what the heck has happened to the club’s early season promise and chemistry. With the summer break here, can Racing cool off and use this time to right the ship, or do drastic measures need to be taken? This is a public episode. Racing didn't have the best week of games, but at least they aren't "shipping container fire" levels of bad! That's the big takeaway from this week's episode, where Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn recap the Gotham, Angel City, and Seattle Reign games and discuss whether their outlook on the team is glass half empty or glass half full. Are we being realistic or looking at things through lavender-colored glasses? Have a listen to decide for yourself! Thanks for reading Butchertown Rundown: A Racing Louisville Substack! Bev Ball is here and we are HERE FOR IT.  We talk about Racing's first regular season win against the Houston Dash since 2021, why Sav DeMelo is such a special player, and Bekki shares some inside info from her recent interviews with Emma Sears and Taylor Flint. There's a time you gotta grow and show you're growing and that's exactly what Racing Louisville did these past two weeks in their draw against the Kansas City Current and their big win in Chicago. Kaitlyn, Tom, and Bekki discuss everything that went right in these two matches, what we still have some concerns about, and what the future may hold for our favorite club. We also announce the release of our brand new substack at https://butchertownrundown.substack.com/ where we'll have game recaps, features, and other exclusive interviews. With Bekki out sick this week, Tom and Kaitlyn recap Racing's recent string of losses against Orlando and Washington and debate the Law of Holes. Is the team in a hole?  Should they stop digging? If they do stop digging, how do they get out? It turns out those questions are harder to answer than you might think, but we give it a try! Support the Show. This is a public episode. Yeah, it's alright. We're doing fine after Racing's incredible 5-1 win over the Utah Royals even if it was followed up by a more frustrating 1-1 draw with Gotham. Kaitlyn, Bekki, and Tom have a whole lot to talk about regarding all the good, bad, and ugly we saw in these two big games but, of course, we have a lot of fun doing it. Check it out!Support the Show. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit butchertownrundown.substack.com
Tom is back with Bekki and Kaitlyn to discuss yet another 0-0 draw for Racing against San Diego. Is this a result that feels more like a win, a loss, or just a draw? We talk about that as well as what we'd like to see against Utah, why you should attend Thunder Over Louisville this year (hint: it's not necessarily for the fireworks!), and as always, even more additions to the Mint Mix!Support the Show. Two more games equal two more draws for Racing Louisville. Houston is more understandable, but Portland? That raises some questions. Tom is on vacation, so Kaitlyn and Bekki are left praising Uchenna Kanu's badass performance and questioning if Racing needs a collective change in mindest. Support the Show. This week we dive into Racing's first game of the season, a 2-2 draw with the Orlando Pride. Is this the same old Racing or are we looking at an entirely new and improved team? Plus Kaitlyn gives her first Purp-O-Meter reading of the season, Bekki shares a ShePlays fantasy league update, and Tom makes a Gen X dad joke that he's certain will embarrass his daughter. Support the Show. Racing fans got their first taste of the new team in the Women's Cup and Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn discuss all the good and the no-so-good from the team's big preseason tournament. Plus, new assistant coach Carm Moscato joins us to discuss her new role with the team, what they learned from their trip to Colombia, and more!PS - Bekki apologizes for her awful audio. Mic issues seem to be a running theme this season.Support the Show. This is a public episode. We've had a lot of fun episodes, but this one definitely takes the cake. This week Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn chat with Kentucky legend Arin Wright about coming home to play for Racing, how the club has become "what all clubs should aspire to be", and why prejudices against Kentucky need to "just die today." There are also a lot of laughs to be had as we relive a very enlightening interview with Arin from back in her UK wildcat days and, of course, we ask all our listener questions from Twitter and the Legion slack. It's a brand new season for BTRD and Racing Louisville and to celebrate, we're kicking it off with not one, but TWO interviews. First up, Margot Ricks from Soccer Holdings is here to tell us all the exciting events planned for Racing's season ticket holders and non-season ticket holders. And then we hassle general manager Ryan Dell for all the dirt on everything from team vibes to new kits to how much has changed between this year and last year. Cue up the sad Sarah MacLachlan mixtape because in this extra off-season bonus episode, Tom, Kaitlyn, and Bekki talk about all the players we've lost this off-season and how that might impact the team. But it's not all tears and sadness! We have plenty to be happy about, including new head coach Bev Yanez and what we hope she can bring to the team! Support the Show. This is a public episode. In the true season two finale, Bekki, Tom, and Kaitlyn get deeper into how this year went for Racing. Can it be called a success when the team finished in 9th...AGAIN? But if it wasn't a success, can we really overlook the progress and call it a failure? We get into the meat of the season this episode, so join us one final time for season two!Support the Show. Racing Louisville's third season has sadly come to an end. But that doesn't mean we still can't have fun! Kaitlyn and Bekki begrudgingly remember the loss to Houston that pushed Racing down in the 9th place. On a happier note, however, they discuss the huge list of NWSL free agents that came out this week. Who will Racing potentially lose and who will Racing potentially grab? In this episode Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn discuss the B-side of Racing's dream week album. Included in the deep cuts are Racing's 2-0 loss to the North Carolina Courage in the Challenge Cup final, our thoughts on the Challenge Cup possibly going away forever, and the importance of the team's upcoming regular season match against the Houston Dash. Support the Show. It has happened! Racing has beaten Portland in the regular season and OL Reign in the Challenge Cup semifinals and they did it all in the span of 5 days! Now they're onto the Challenge Cup final in North Carolina where they may slay another giant in just over a week! The Purp was so big, we had to have an emergency pod about it. But don't worry - this is just part one. We'll have our regularly scheduled episode covering the final out early next week.Support the Show. This is a public episode.
