loved the episode as ever. May I suggest Edna Adan Ishmail as a female politician for you to talk to? First female foreign minister in Somaliland and I believe her to be a visionary leader

I have similar thoughts to Rory about H of Lords reform. Smaller numbers. New members chosen for expertise and selected through a non partisan committee.

With yet another unelected leader taking over running the government (Jeremy Hunt) is it time for a new piece of legislation - that if a new leader is appointed mid term they have to stick to the manifesto that was voted for when the government was elected? Otherwise, we could just go on seeing the anti-democratic muddle that we're currently living through.

Rory's comment about the rapid turnover of PMs makes me wonder whether this due to the career politicians, who have done little other than politics or journalism.

Rory Stewart completely misunderstanding how economists think. They absolutely do not think about departments in terms of their budgets. They care very explicitly about what benefits they can deliver to people, both financial and non-fianncial. Truss could do with spending more time with some proper economists.

Well I finally got round to listening to this podcast this morning and I was pleasantly surprised by Keir's energy and enthusiasm. Then I realised that, because I'm always short of time, I listen at 1.2 x normal speed. Maybe Keir could try talking faster? Just a thought.

I think the problem that Sunak has with economic policy is that the members are pro-Brexit which is total fantasy economics, so it's a hard sell to make them embrace realistic economic policy now.

I am huge fan of your podcast and now read 'The European.' My question is to both of you is 'How do you have time to read so many books, articles and newspapers as well as tour the world and address high powered conferences and have time for family. Do you both speed read?' Anne Earnshaw
