I work as a caregiver for folks with disabilities, & i see the OP's situation all the time. it's never the siblings' job to care for their disabled sibling. that is on the parents. caregiving is an extremely taxing job, and parents absolutely deserve a break. but that shouldn't come at the expense of their other child/children. there are services in place to help families in those situations. they need to take advantage of that so they don't alienate their other kids.
all she had to do was explain it to him and make a video with him......the surprise was ruined but could've gave him something to remember her .
