Welcome to Her Ambitious Career, the personal branding and success podcast for corporate women who want to land dream opportunities in their careers and get that recognition they so deserve.I am always so mindful how much pressure we women put on ourselves...Pressure to perform, pressure to give to others, pressure to be everyone else's support, pressure to succeed... it goes on and on.I thought today I would share 5 of my own life's lessons with you on today's episode because, quite frankly, I have learned an awful lot! And continue to!*****So what am I sharing today?5 lessons (and a little advice too) including:#1 "I'm in a job I hate? What do I do?"#2 "I just lost my job and now I feel unworthy. How do I cope?"#3 "I'm always comparing myself to other people and it makes me miserable. What do I do??"#4 "I hate it when I get asked something in a meeting and I don't know the answer! I feel like a fool!"#5 "What if I have made the wrong decision? What now?"Here's something interesting I said in this ep! :)"Hanging your sense of worth solely on anything external to you (a salary, a job title, a house, a comment from someone else etc) is always a mistake. What if you get made redundant or have to take a pay cut? Your sense of worth goes out of the window too. Much better is to learn how to build a sense of worth on you... that's never changing!"  (Rebecca Allen, Career Success Coach and host of Her Ambitious Career podcast)*****Email the show: share your own lesson; suggest a topic; give us feedback; just message to say 'hi'!  >>>     podcast@illuminategrowth.com.au*****Some More About Your Host:Rebecca Allen is a Career Success Coach for ambitious women who want more from their lives and careers. Welcome to Her Ambitious Career, the personal branding and success podcast for ambitious corporate women who want the recognition they deserve, to be paid appropriately, to be promoted.Ladies, this week we are talking about gender equity and the imbalance of both power and resources between the genders. My guest today is Allan Ball, Director of White Ribbon, the world’s largest movement engaging with men and boys to eliminate gendered violence against women and children. Now you may have encountered your fair or unfair share of sexism  at home and at work...You may have encountered emotional or physical abuse...That imbalance of power and resource...Salary discrepancies...A poor distribution of opportunities at work. These are all examples of gender imbalance. We live in a system, in a culture where although most men are our supporters, a small minority of men continue to hold women back.In this episode Allan shares his thoughts on these important topics:1. How women’s safety is a man’s issue… what that means and how men can step up2. How sexism, throw-away sexist jokes and bias towards women all operate in the same culture that also enables emotional and physical assault - even the murder of women. How can such complexities be addressed?3.  The difference between 'healthy' and 'toxic' masculinity... and how the majority of men, the healthy men, can challenge the minority in a constructive way*** Some of the content in this episode is sensitive. If you are at all triggered, please seek the support you need. Understand more about the issue of gendered violence1800respect.org.au is our national domestic and sexual violence advice line For men and boys specifically: White Ribbon's Barber Shop is a fantastic resource****Guest Bio:Allan Ball is the National Director for White Ribbon Australia, a social movement engaging men and boys to prevent violence towards women.  In his 20-year career, Allan has worked in leadership positions in the federal, state, and disability sectors as a social worker and change agent. Allan has played a key role in challenging oppressive institutions and creating inclusive ones, and he is in charge of showing the country how to include men and boys in behavioural change.Look out for White Ribbon's Let’s Be The Change  event in November 2022 For men and boys specifically: White Ribbon's Barber Shop is a fantastic resource*****Host Bio:Rebecca Allen is a Career Success Coach for ambitious women looking to land dream career opportunities. Welcome to Her Ambitious Career, the personal branding and success podcast for corporate women who want to land dream opportunities in their careers and get that recognition they so deserve. One thing is certain: problems and challenges are going to happen. Things are going to go wrong. Plans are going to be interrupted and outcomes aren't always going to turn out as you expect them too...So how do you cope? How do you deal with it? How do you bounce back afterwards? In this episode, I'm sharing 5 ways to build resilience in this busy world including:1. Having and communicating boundaries around how much you work and spend on social media - because boundaries are good for you! :)2. Knowing that being resilient isn't aiming for 'being unbreakable': you're a human with vulnerabilities and you're allowed to have a meltdown every so often!3. Resilience is about being more flexible when trying to solve your challenges and problems - I'm sharing exactly how....4. Learning how to listen to feedback in a more objective way and learning how not to take that feedback (or set back) personally...Here's something interesting I said in this ep! :)"How do you thrive despite the overwhelm, the overstimulation, the everchanging landscape that is the modern world? Resilience, and your ability to cope well with challenges, comes best when you are feeling relaxed, well rested and are able to think."  (Rebecca Allen, Career Success Coach and host of Her Ambitious Career podcast)*****Some More About Your Host:Rebecca Allen is a Career Success Coach for ambitious women who want more from their lives and careers.
