Today, October 23rd, is a special day. First, it’s National Horror Movie Day, a day to celebrate all things horror for those who enjoy the genre. Second, it’s also the birthday of Sam Raimi, the filmmaker best known for the Evil Dead trilogy. Created by Christian Ackerman and Black Vortex Cinema, Christian wanted to honor Raimi while also honoring the genre, which includes Evil Dead. Of course, not all horror films have to be gory and involve dismemberment; it can have jump scares or psychological images that can make one feel queasy.
For this week’s episode, we’re playing tracks from video games inspired or based on horror films: a campground with a killer on the loose, a demon stalking a group of survivors, and a daughter searching for her mother in a dilapidated space station. We’ve also got covers and remixes to follow.
Prepare to get scared by these horrific tracks…

On October 16th, 1923, two brothers got together and formed an animation studio. It was called The Disney Brother Cartoon Studio. Walt and Roy Disney had just signed a contract with Winkler Pictures to produce a film series called “Alice Comedies”. They moved to new building in 1926 and renamed it Walt Disney Studio. Inspired by Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt created his own character named Mickey Mouse. Since then Walt Disney Studio had more successes, starting with their first animated movie, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”, and then developing more movies such as Mary Poppins, Dumbo, and The Little Mermaid. They also licensed their IP for video games: the Game & Watch egg-catching game called Mickey Mouse, Tron for the arcade and consoles, and The Black Cauldron, an early computer game developed by Sierra On-Line.
This week we are celebrating Walt Disney and the video games related to the studio: a rich uncle searching for great treasure, a cub of the Pridelands, and a young boy that is the key to saving the universe. We also have covers and remixes to follow each of these original tracks.
Come and celebrate the man who opened the door to world of imagination and discovery…

Today, we are celebrating “MediEvil”, an action-adventure PS1 game that was first released in the United Kingdom and European regions on October 9, 1998 and then later in North America on October 21st. You’ll play as Sir Dan Fortesque, a knight who must defeat Zarok and the resurrected minions, in order to get a seat in the Hall of Heroes and be hailed as the rightful Hero of Gallowmere. While the game was praised for its Halloween-theme visuals, some complained about its controls and cumbersome camera work.
Enjoy the music of MediEvil, in time to get into the mood of this season…

For any car owner, there may be a certain vehicle that was driven for a long time and experienced many different scenarios, some memorable and intimate. That car may have a certain mechanical personality or charm, be it how it’s decorated or why it behaves under certain conditions. That car has become a second home or a personal concert hall. It also has carried the burdens and desires of its owner At one point or another, the owner has bestowed a name on their vehicle.
On October 2nd, we’re celebrating “National Name Your Car Day”. No, really. This day honors those who have given a name or nickname to their car, truck, van, and even iron horse. No two vehicles are alike, which means there are plethora of names to be given.
For this week’s episode, we’ll be playing tracks from video games that have vehicles with special names or nicknames: a futuristic racer and its bounty hunger, a crazy clown and his ice cream truck, and a Marine vehicle worthy of a Master Chief. We also have covers and remixes to follow these original tracks.
Sit in, buckle up, and prepare to hit the road…

September is almost over, with this last weekend of the month. That also means it’s time for “On Stage Now”, our monthly special episode that features artists of video game music and their covers and remixes. This month’s artist is Sapphire (and long overdue).
Sapphire is a creator of vocal content. She first started with doing fandubs and then singing covers of music from video games and anime. While Sapphire as done solo projects, she has also collaborated with other musicians, such as The Consouls and Sleeping Forest.
Sit back and enjoy the delightful and soulful voice that is Sapphire. Oh, and be sure to catch her recent voice over work for the game “ORBITALS!” and “Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave”.
