Let's face it, Web3 is at an all time low. VCs aren't funding, HODLers aren't HODLing and BUIDLers... well, to be fair, they're still building.
So, given we are Europe's premier Web3 podcast, we thought it only right to try and shine some sunlight on what is a stubbornly bearish market by showing some real world Web3 use cases.
Callum is joined today by Simon Smith. Simon is the founder of Excalibur.fm and a sage on all things Web3.

In this episode, we talk to Daniel Greenberg and Scott Kenna of Lexsynergy. Lexsynergy guide brands through both traditional and Web3 spaces, providing strategic policy, streamlined domain management and world class assistance with domain recoveries and online brand protection.

On 11th November 2022, FTX, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, filed for bankruptcy. Overnight, CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (then a 30-year old billionaire) went from crypto's darling to public enemy number one. Bizarrely, 'SBF' (as Sam was universally known) made the somewhat dubious decision to live Tweet the collapse of his company.
In SBF's own words: W H A T H A P P E N E D.
In an atmosphere of media and Twittersphere speculation, The Web3 Podcast brings back two of its most popular guests, Neal Rushton-King and Paddy Vance, to deep dive on what happened and what we can learn from it.

According to Chris (@castig), the core pillars of Web3 are decentralization, self-custody and building-in-public. Given many of us take those tenets for granted, isn't it weird that so much of Web3 community revolves around a centralized, privately owned and opaque platform like Discord?
In this episode, Chris and Callum debate this topic and hint at what comes next...

In Web3, the metaphor of being 'pilled' refers to experiencing an epiphany of Web3's potential, and the burning desire to contribute to the development of this ecosystem. This epiphany is what led today's guests, Neal Rushton-King and Paddy Vance, to turn their backs on multi-decade careers at some of the world's most prestigious blue-chip companies.
Instead, Neal and Paddy are using a wealth of experience to build MIN3, a Web3 native consultancy disrupting outdated industries with new technology. Callum, Neal and Paddy discuss everything from the problems that Web3 tech solves to the threats, opportunities and potential that this space contains.

Since then, the Dash ecosystem has matured, allowing users to pay everyone from their Grandma to their phone bill in Dash. Open-source, and run by a DAO, Dash represents the essence of Web3. In this episode, Callum catches up with Ivan Shumkov, Dash's Head of Engineering, to hear how the ecosystem has (and is) evolving.

We've all been there. You find out about a new DAO or a new Web3 project, get excited and dive into the Discord to find out more. For all but the most dedicated Web3 adventurer, that's where the fun largely stops. Immediately, you are bombarded by information by people using pseudonyms. Every DAO has a different structure, different terminology and different rules. Getting up to speed can be overwhelming.
In this episode, Callum sits down with Mendes. Mendes is a Web3 veteran with five years of experience in the space, who has lately co-founded a new venture called Avenue. Avenue is a DAO collaboration and communication platform designed to rectify the disconnect between DAOs and their members, and solve many of the problems inherent to Discord.

If Web3 itself is controversial, no topic is more controversial than the concept of Crypto-Anarchism. Decentralization and enhanced privacy permit journalists, victims of oppressive regimes and whistleblowers to act without fear of reprisal, but also allow criminals and other bad actors to do the same.
In this thought provoking episode, Callum sits down with AlexAnarcho to talk Monero, crypto-anarchy and why we need to adapt the way we think about freedom and technology.
About AlexAnarcho
Alex is a world-renowned privacy advocate and self-proclaimed 'crypto-anarchist'. He is also the founder of Tip XMR, a platform that allows streamers to accept and display tips in XMR. He is a regular speaker at conferences relating to Monero and Privacy, and is based in Germany.
