This week's episode is kind of short because if you can't tell from the box behind him, Erik is moving from Michigan to Florida! He goes over what brought that up. We're also taking next week off since D.J. will be out of town and Erik is moving so its our "Summer Break".The bulk of the show today is dedicated to looking over the 2026 Formula 1 schedule and the big item of note is Monaco is moved to mid-June and F1 will be taking on last part of the Indianapolis 500 directly in television ratings. With Indy 500 TV ratings on the rise again and still considered a mega event in the United States is this move smart? Is it just arrogance thinking they can take on the US's largest motorsports event in TV ratings? On the second half of the show, we recap NASCAR at Michigan, the excessive use of the John Fogerty guitar riff every time they come back from commercial, and the storylines coming up as NASCAR heads to Mexico for the first time in many years, IndyCar heads to Gateway, F1 heads to Canada, and we have the Le Mans 24 hour race all in one weekend! Oh and because of traveling and moving Erik and D.J. won't have time to watch any of those! Don't forget to enter our contest by June 30th for a chance to win an autographed 1:24 scale William Byron diecast. Enter at https://frracingonline.com/contest and get bonus entries for following us on socials, Spotify, and more!⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Big Announcement: Erik's Moving!00:05:05 - Formula 1 2026 Schedule and Canadian Grand Prix00:09:55 - RIP Motorsports Christmas: Monaco, Indy500, and Coca-Cola 60000:14:43 - NASCAR Race Recap: Michigan and Strategy Insights00:19:37 - NBA Draft Lottery and Reggie Miller00:24:19 - Max Verstappen's Championship Hopes and Red Bull Strategy00:29:08 - Managing Personalities in Sports: Lessons from Elite Leaders---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. "Two Idiots Talking Racing... and Stuff" sounds like a fitting tagline for this show, isn't it? Today on F-R Racing's Garage Talk we officially adopt that as the tagline for the show. What started as a quick and serious show evolved into what you see and listen to on a weekly basis so we felt it was time to start updating the branding to match the show.We kick off the show this week discussing the latest in iRacing including Erik's surprisingly good performance at Lime Rock Park, D.J. having to switch to the booth last minute, and the upcoming schedule (including our all new Bottom Split Racing Series beginning on June 23rd! If you're wanting to break into oval racing or just struggle on ovals, we're the development league for you! $10 broadcast fee gets you into 8 races every other Monday at 10pm ET.On the second half of the show we discuss a racing weekend full of drama including Alex Palou being wrecked out at Detroit, McLaughin vs Siegel, and Louie Foster's suspension breaking. We move on and discuss week 2 of NASCAR on Amazon Prime Video and the increasing uproar of older fans threatening to never watch NASCAR again over the move, how the broadcasts are going and the drama between Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.Finally, we discuss the Max Verstappen's incident with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix and the hilarious Internet theory on why Max purposely tried to get himself suspended for the Canadian Grand Prix (it involves Le Mans).Don't forget to enter our contest by June 30th for a chance to win an autographed 1:24 scale William Byron diecast. On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we give a brief mention to the F1 Monaco "race", because that's all it deserves, one of the weirder Indy 500's we've ever seen, and the first NASCAR race on Amazon Prime Video.First up, we talk about the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and as expected it was a parade with no on track passing, and the required two pit stop strategy didn't work out. Next, and the bulk of the show we talk about the Indianapolis 500 from the pre-race helicopter flyover, Scott McLaughin's pace lap crash warming his tires, numerous incidents on pit road, timing and scoring issues at the track, and the botched coverage of the finish. Finally, we talk about the Coca Cola 600 and Amazon Prime Video's approach to covering the event and how it varied tremendously from what FOX did. On this week's episode of Garage Talk, we're joined by the very talented Jackson Lambros, co-founder of Outlap Media and reporter for Dive Bomb about the latest Team Penske scandal at the Indianapolis 500, the fall out, D.J. apologizes to Robert Shwartzman, and more!At the start of the show, we introduce you to Jackson Lambros, co-founder of Outlap Media, a reporter for Dive Bomb, and the next voice of Wednesday Night Dash! As mentioned previously, Trevor Kratzer will be stepping down after the truck series to head to college and we're excited to have Jackson step in as the next voice! You may recognize his voice from the Bristol Season 12 Wednesday Night Dash race, and the first two season 5 Indy Racing World Series races.D.J. and Erik missed badly by predicting Robert Shwartzman would be the one bumped from the Indy 500 field, but instead he is the first rookie to sit on the pole since 1983! We apologize to him and Prema for our bad prediction.Next, Jackson fills you in on the Team Penske scandal involving the illegal modification to the attenuator from what is the attenuator used for, why you can't and shouldn't perform any modifications to it (safety issue), and break down the fallout for top Penske management getting let go over for now their second scandal in two years. In the second half of the show we preview the upcoming weekend of racing including F1 at Monaco, the Indy 500, and NASCAR at the Coca-Cola 600. Finally, we talk about the highlights from the All Star Race at North Wilkesboro, McLaren's strategy call in Italy, and our caution filled iRacing event at Bristol. On this week's episode of Garage Talk, we recap the Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, recap the Kansas NASCAR weekend including Carson Hocevar's "gesture" to Layne Riggs, ideas for iRacing to improve the restart procedure, and more!D.J.'s kids got him sick yet again, but the show must go on! For the first half of the show we largely stick to on topic motorsports including a recap of the Sonsio Grand Prix, a breakdown of what little Indy 500 practice we've seen so far, and which driver will ultimately miss out on qualifying for the race? We both agree there is a clear favorite to miss.Next, we welcome Horizon Hobby to the F-R Racing family! Horizon Hobby has been a great friend to NASCAR and D.J. loves his 1:12 scale hobby grade RC car and now Horizon Hobby is rolling out the 2025 editions! Check them out at https://frracingonline.com/horizonhoby (Affiliate Link).Next we move on and discuss the NASCAR weekend at Kansas including a dominant performance from Kyle Larson and Carson Hocevar winning the truck race with the bird heard round the world. His gesture to Layne Riggs while taking the checkered flag got a variety of responses including a surprising one from Kyle Busch of all people. Finally, we get off topic a little bit towards the end of the show, but we do follow up on our discussion of iRacing's re-ordering procedure for oval racing during cautions, especially during finishes under caution. We have not seen a response from iRacing support over our ticket from our Talladega debacle, but we provide some suggestions on how iRacing can fix the driver notification system.Be sure to head to https://frracingonline.com/contest and sign up today before June 30th for a chance to win an autographed William Byron 1:24 scale die cast!⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Introduction to Garage Talk Podcast00:08:50 - IndyCar and NASCAR Race Highlights00:17:27 - NASCAR Drivers and Team Dynamics00:26:34 - Upcoming Races and Weather Challenges00:35:32 - Sim Racing and iRacing Challenges00:44:19 - General Nostalgia00:53:07 - College Memories and Stories01:01:47 - Closing Thoughts and Future Plans---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. As you know, we record on Wednesday evening after Wednesday Night Dash (on  ⁨@Stadiumscene⁩ ) and this week has been an absolute struggle. You've noticed the broadcast did not happen live as scheduled Tuesday night and we ran into some scoring problems (maybe) at the end of Wednesday Night Dash. We get into those struggles on today's Garage Talk.First up, we go into the details of how the broadcast fell apart on Tuesday and what D.J. had to do to somewhat rectify the mistake. We have a plan B if the broadcast were to fail, but it's not ideal. Here's what we did: https://youtu.be/fNlB9ya-NigNext, we've talked about Magic: The Gathering some on the show and D.J.'s 7 year old kid approached him asking about the cards on his desk and wanting to learn how to play. He ended up telling her that she needs to be a little older, but when is it ok to introduce that to your kids? D.J. thinks about age 10-12. What do you think? Finally we close out this shorter than usual show with a recap of the weekend in racing, first with IndyCar at Barber, F1 at Miami, and NASCAR at Texas. We go over Erik's reaction to the finish including Michael McDowell's questionable blocking, and ultimately it being a Joey Logano win. On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we unveil the 2025 F-R Racing Anniversary giveaway! You'll want to stick around after the open to see what could be yours! After that, Erik opens a pack of trading cards from Parkside Cards. Parkside is a smaller trading card producer who is the exclusive supplier for IndyCar and the NWSL. Erik has gotten lucky in the past and ended up with an autographed card. Will he this time?Next, we move onto an issue brought up by Mike Joy last week on Kevin Harvick's show about NASCAR failing to adapt for the next generation of fans. With "youthful" sponsors and consumer products being replaced by B2B sponsors, is there a disconnect between the sponsors and the fans? Finally, we get into Talladega weekend including a Top 10 in the ARCA race from Cleetus McFarland, a messy end to the Xfinity race, and a snooze fest of a cup race. Erik has officially crossed over the hill and reached 40 years old! On today's episode officially dubbed as Erik's Birthday Spectacular, we bring out our old friend Jeppson's Malört, discuss the IndyCar testing Internet issues, and somehow finish off the show talking about Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.First, We kick off the show with our old friend Jeppson's Malört as we celebrate Erik's birthday (spoiler alert, we never ended up doing the second shot) and look at famous people with the same birthday as Erik. We then spin off and talk about D.J.'s copy of the 1998 Indianapolis 500 program and are reminded of a long time NASCAR driver who made his IndyCar debut that season. Next, we talk about the testing at Indianapolis and how IndyCar ended up with egg on its faces because the pit lane couldn't make an Internet connection and had no analytics data. Practice was held up for over two hours citing a "safety concern" which is fair, but it falls back on our discussion from last week about racing becoming too reliant on analytics and ultimately ruining the product some weeks.Next, we talk about Rick Allen breaking his silence after his surprise exit from NASCAR and sharing his thoughts on the Dale Jr Download, Formula 1 having a hard time getting the price they want for a US TV deal. We dive into the future of live sports on tv and will this end up just driving more people to F1TV (our affiliate partner, see link below) if they can't get the deal they want? NASCAR returned to Rockingham and we briefly discuss that. Finally, somehow we get into the discussion of how we played Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons as kids, get into our collections, and how D.J. regrets selling off his Magic: The Gathering collection as a teenager.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Erik's 40th Birthday and NASCAR Connections00:08:36 - Travel Plans: Chicago Wedding and Battle of the Bricks00:17:06 - Indy 500 Traditions and Racing Anecdotes00:25:31 - Formula 1 TV Deals and Streaming Challenges00:33:49 - NASCAR Talladega Race and Stage Racing Concerns00:42:36 - Garage 56 Documentary and NASCAR Viewership in Europe00:50:56 - Magic: The Gathering Collection and Nostalgia00:59:32 - Dungeons & Dragons and Gaming Memories01:07:48 - Building a Magic: The Gathering Deck01:16:16 - Diecast Car Giveaway Preview and Show Wrap-Up---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. If you watched the racing over the weekend you were left pretty bummed out. Bristol was a bust, Long Beach IndyCar was pretty boring, and Oscar Piastri ran away with the F1 race in Bahrain. The IMSA race at Long Beach was arguably the most compelling. Yet somehow we go way off course and spend probably more than half of our first ever marathon episode discussing everything else. If you decide to skip this episode, we don't blame you.We kick off the show discussing Kyle Larson's eye-opening comments about how he likes racing in the Xfinity Series so he can embarrass the drivers, but unlike some of the talking heads, we discuss the context around the click bait headline and why it's a good thing he "embarrasses the kids" and how it happened to him when he was a youngster in the series. We dig into the history books and look at some of the Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series drivers who were good or great in the series, but never made it in the Cup Series.Next we move on and discuss the drama with every team except for maybe Haas (weird, I know?) and after discussing where Max may end up next season we go off topic for a bulk of the rest of the show. It starts off with Erik getting ready to celebrate his 40th birthday next week and a simple question is "Isn't Happy Birthday To You" now in the public domain? Answer: It is as of 2015. You know who else is in the public domain now? The original Winnie The Pooh which led to a low budget horror film involving Winnie the Pooh as the bad guy.In our now regular segment of TV and Movie updates, we talk about cult classic and movies that were terrible but we liked them anyway. Erik talks about "The Tree of Life" and D.J. mentions a movie of the old TV Show "McHale's Navy" staring Tom Arnold, David Alan Grier, and the great Tim Curry. We do get back on the racing talk looking at the confirmed entry list for the 109th Indianapolis 500 and D.J. asks the question about why is there little to no marketing for the IMSA Series? Only 81000 people watched the Long Beach race on Saturday on USA and it's absolutely mind-blowing that with Americans loving sports cars why they don't market that to anyone. Finally, we close out the show talking about D.J.'s car getting hit while stopped at a stop light last weekend. Everyone is fine and the car is mostly ok, but consider it a PSA about paying attention while driving.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Cold Open00:08:43 - NASCAR and Xfinity Series Highlights00:17:38 - Formula 1 Drama and Team Dynamics00:26:53 - Public Domain and Copyright in Media00:35:38 - Exploring Cult Classic Films00:44:28 - IndyCar Racing and Strategy Analysis00:53:23 - IMSA Racing Marketing and Sports Car Enthusiasm01:02:42 - Collectibles and Memorabilia Discussion01:11:13 - Beer Culture and Regional Brews01:19:42 - NASCAR Race Strategies and Challenges01:28:17 - Car Accidents and Insurance Stories01:37:04 - Upcoming Racing Events and Adjustments---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. We're back with another episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk. In this week's episode we go over how BORING the F1 Japanese Grand Prix was, throwback weekend at Darlington, and D.J. broke his foot.To kick off the show, we announce our brand new partner, Nixon Watch Company. We're excited to become part of the Nixon family and proud to call Nixon the official watch of F-R Racing. To learn more, visit https://frracingonline.com/nixon (affiliate link).Next up, we address the elephant in the room of why D.J. was back in the broadcast booth for the Indy Racing World Series race at Mid-Ohio. What D.J. was originally told was a left foot sprain, was actually a small break and during his testing/practice for Mid-Ohio his foot swelled up so he opted to sit this one out. It worked out ok because Taka forgot his Display Port to HDMI adapter and only had one monitor, shifting D.J. over to the first seat for the event.Next, we discuss how the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix was incredibly BORING to the point even Oscar Piastri was surprised by the lack of highlights while in the cooldown room. There was more interesting drama during practice and qualification including Max Verstappen's unexpected record breaking lap in Q3.After that, we discuss NASCAR throwback weekend at Darlington. How was the race? Is throwback weekend still necessary? If they do continue with it, what should the limit be? We close it out talking about what's on TV including the Amazon Prime series "First to the Finish" featuring friend of the show, MX-5 Cup driver Heather Hadley. D.J. made it through episode one and hopes to finish the next episodes in the next week. He also discusses how you should be watching "The Studio" on Apple TV+.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Introduction to Garage Talk and Racing Discussions00:09:22 - Max Verstappen's Record-Breaking Performance00:18:48 - Alpine Team's Unexpected Lack of Points00:28:08 - Challenges of iRacing and Personal Experiences00:37:28 - NASCAR and IndyCar Schedule Insights00:46:52 - Nostalgic NASCAR Paint Schemes and Memories00:56:30 - Seth Rogen's New AppleTV+ Show, "The Studio"01:06:05 - Upcoming Racing Events and Podcast Announcements---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. On this episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk we kick off discussing the big news out of Red Bull that Liam Lawson is being demoted to Racing Bulls and replaced with Yuki Tsunoda after only two races. How bad of a PR move is this for Red Bull?Next, we discuss D.J.'s least favorite race on the IndyCar calendar, The Thermal Club. From the boring race to the power outage knocking the FOX broadcast offline, the poor ratings, and the Country Club race with limited attendance, why would they keep coming here?A little bit of off topic discussion comes in from the concept of Paw Patrol, D.J. and Erik's connection with Clifford The Big Red Dog's author, and Kangaroo Jack? Finally, we recap the Homestead NASCAR weekend and how Kyle Larson came so close to pulling off the three race sweep.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Red Bull Drama + Yuki Replaces Liam Lawson00:08:25 - Racing Strategies and Fuel Management Insights00:16:26 - IndyCar Season Highlights and Driver Performances00:24:42 - Formula 1 Updates and Red Bull Team Dynamics00:33:07 - NASCAR Viewership Trends and Race Analysis00:41:42 - TV Shows and Pop Culture References in Racing00:49:46 - NASCAR Playoffs and Driver Standings Discussion00:58:53 - Upcoming Racing Events and Movie Releases---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, Erik and D.J. start off going off topic looking at concerts and a surprise throwback name on the 2025 Lollapalooza schedule. Once they get back on topic, it was time to recap the NASCAR weekend in Las Vegas and the rainy chaos of the Formula 1 opening round in Australia. Is Kimi Antonelli the real deal?Next, we discuss our week in iRacing including D.J.'s unexpected return to the broadcast booth, Erik getting hosed by a software glitch, and the penalty flag that ruined Erik's Wednesday Night Dash. Finally, we are talking about bringing out a new iRacing NASCAR themed development league for new and inexperienced drivers to work with each other and build up their race craft to better compete in Wednesday Night Dash. You can hear our process out loud as we go through eligibility, and even the name.As an added bonus, we look at ways that NASCAR's Cup Series can become the Winston Cup again without it being a reference to the previous company (since legally that can't happen). We're back with another episode of Garage Talk! On this week's episode, we kick it off discussing NASCAR continuing to be inconsistent with those last lap yellows, Carson Hocevar having a line of drivers wanting to talk to him post-race, and the upcoming IndyCar Season.First off, we have to lead right into the show talking about the upcoming IndyCar season, FOX announcing the pit reporters for the broadcasts, and previewing the upcoming season. There just appears to be more hype and excitement leading into this season despite not many changes to the series itself.Next, we move on NASCAR throwing a caution on the last lap with an accident behind and ruining another finish. They claim it was in the name of safety, but then again it's the opposite of what they did at Daytona. Carson Hocevar's aggressive driving continues to bring complaints from other drivers including two drivers who have been pretty aggressive early in their careers as well. Finally, we sneak a little F1 talk in since their season will begin soon and D.J. questions Erik for why he scheduled the IRWS IndyCar race at Belle Isle for 45 laps. Did any of you actually enjoy the F1 75 Live unveiling show this week? D.J. thought it was pure cringe and embarrassing and he has a lot more to say about that on this week's F-R Racing's Garage Talk.First off, as we kick off the show, we jump right into the F1 75 live show. For those who missed it, they brought all 10 teams together at the O2 Arena in London to unveil all new liveries and introduce the drivers in the cringiest way possible.Next, we discuss the iRacing Developers update including official announcement for a new track used by IndyCar that has been long missing from the service. We also talk the new ARCA car and some other changes including a controversial one of a "poor connection" alert to drop drivers off the track who are ruining races due to their poor internet connection. Finally, we get into Daytona 500 weekend and discuss everything from the blocks, Ryan Preece flipping his car (again), races ending under caution, penalties, disqualification for Parker Kligerman, and an extremely messy ARCA race on Saturday morning.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️: 00:00:00 - Formula 1 Embarrassing Unveiling Event Analysis 00:09:10 - NASCAR vs Formula 1: Radio Communication Differences 00:18:04 - Sim Racing Equipment and Setup Discussion 00:27:03 - iRacing Updates and New Features Overview 00:36:03 - Daytona Race Recap and Key Moments 00:44:57 - NASCAR Officiating and Rule Consistency Debate 00:54:00 - IndyCar and NASCAR Season Discussion 01:03:01 - Upcoming Races and Fantasy Picks Strategy---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. On this week's Garage Talk, we hang out with John Miles. John owns JM Motorsports, races with us on Wednesday Night Dash and other events. We talk to him about the process of building a sim racing team.First up, John is a college student at the University of Missouri so we discuss how does he balance iRacing with college and other activities. Side note: if Erik and D.J. had iRacing back in college, things probably would have not gone well. John goes into his process of how he built his team originally with his childhood best friend Jax Malan and the interesting place where they met Lane Snow.Next, we talk about the challenges of finding sponsors for an esports/sim racing team. John has managed to secure some sponsorships of large companies through meeting with local locations. Finally, we close out the show talking about the NASCAR Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium. How was the clash? Was it better than LA? Should they go back there next year?Follow John and JM Motorsports onInstagram.Key Episode Highlights:00:00:00 - Introducing John Miles of JM Motorsports00:07:39 - Balancing iRacing and College Life00:15:25 - The Rise of Esports and iRacing00:23:07 - Pro Sports Nepotism and Young Drivers00:30:52 - Challenges in Indie Car Racing00:38:46 - Comparing NASCAR and IndyCar Events00:46:37 - Technical Aspects of Sim Racing00:54:47 - Upcoming Races and League Plans---------Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. We're back with our second episode of 2025 and we have a lot to talk about regarding the drama at the Rolex 24, some iRacing league previews, and D.J. pulls out his 90s NASCAR diecast collection. First up, there is a lot to digest from the weekend including a post-race disqualification for one of the class winners, Tommy Milner's "iconic" reaction to a BMW driver, a big wreck during the overnight hours, and a massive wreck to start the second race of the MX-5 Cup. We checked in with our friend Heather Hadley, who was part of the big wreck and she confirmed she was ok. Next, D.J. decides to pull out his case of 1990s NASCAR diecast and we review some of the sponsors we used to see in NASCAR back in the 90s and the hilarious "edits" to the tobacco and alcohol sponsors on the "kids" versions of the cars. What, no Miller Lite car for the kids? Finally, we preview the upcoming iRacing Indy Racing World Series league, which kicks off Tuesday, February 4th at 10 pm on Stadium Scene TV . There's still room to join so head over to https://frracingonline.com/irws to learn more and register your spot. Our free Friday night GT series race is back next week (February 7th) with a 60-minute GT3 sprint race from Mount Panorama (Bathurst). There is no fee to join or standings to keep, and it's also broadcast on Stadium Scene TV. If you want to join, click our Discord link below and let us know you're here for the GT race! ⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️: 00:00:00 - Rolex 24 Disqualification Drama and Mechanical Failures 00:07:10 - Mustang GT3 Victory Amidst BMW Shenanigans 00:14:17 - NASCAR Diecast Collection and Childhood Memories 00:20:46 - Iconic NASCAR Sponsorships and Memorable Cars 00:27:34 - Beanie Babies Craze and Black Friday Shopping Incidents 00:34:22 - iRacing Adventures 00:41:03 - iRacing Indy Racing World Series Season Preview 00:48:00 - GT Racing Events and iRacing Community Fun --------- Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET.
